The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood-Chapter 316
Wiggling out from under Michelle, the girl stood up. She knew she didn’t excel when it came to physical strength, but she had never expected she would be so weak she wouldn’t even be able to support another person.
Looking around, she saw others nearby. "Guys! I found her! Come help!" she shouted.
Quickly, a small group of people gathered. Then, it was no longer troublesome to bring Michelle, staging as Ana, to the clearing where they were camping.
When Ana was brought to the clearing, she was left to the group of people who were training to be healers, while the group that found her went to inform the others who were searching for Ana that she was found and brought back.
When Leonard heard Ana was found, he quickly returned and went to the healers.
The moment he saw the state Ana was in, he froze. He was sure it was done by the pair of sisters he had confronted just a while ago. They were the only ones who had left the clearing other than Ana.
But Leonard knew not to act rashly. If he went to confront the two, they could easily deny it. And before Ana could speak about who beat her up, they would destroy all evidence.
He had to wait for Ana to be in a state where she could talk.
But that would clearly take a while.
When Ana was brought to the healers, they tried to heal her with light-element spirit energy, but it didn’t work in the least bit.
So they examined her and found out that her own spirit energy was harming her, preventing healing.
Not a single one of them was a full-fledged healer, and even experienced healers had rarely come across such a condition. So they didn’t know how to heal Ana.
They discussed the situation for a while before deciding on a move. And it was quite a radical one.
One of the healers stood up and went to the Poison Maker Masters trainees.
When that group saw a healer coming toward them, they thought they would be accused of something. But instead, the healer, a young man, bowed his head slightly. "I’m sorry, but do you have a poison that disables spirit energy for a fixed amount of time?" he asked.
The Poison Maker Masters didn’t answer for a while, staring at the healer. Then, one of them stood up. "What happened for someone like you to need a poison like that?" he asked.
The healer knew he couldn’t waste time, so he quickly explained what they had found out about Ana’s condition when they examined her. If they didn’t want her spirit energy to prevent healing, they needed to make it unable to leave her dantian until she was healed.
Hearing that, the Poison Maker Masters didn’t want to help. Not a single one of them wanted to take responsibility if the healer’s plan didn’t go well and they ended up being blamed for it.
Meeting with rejection, the healer tried to persuade them for a while before returning empty-handed.
When the healers saw that, they weren’t surprised, but they were unhappy. They didn’t like that they couldn’t cure a patient when the cure was available.
The whole time, Michelle was conscious. She just couldn’t speak because the bruise on her cheek would stretch painfully whenever she moved her lips.
Of course, with her endurance of pain, she could easily push through it. But considering she was staging as a pampered non-cultivator, it would be strange for her to do that.
Still, there was something Michelle could do.
Since from the start, Ana had some spirit energy, she could use spatial rings. So Michelle reached into her space, and a bottle appeared in her hand.
Seeing it, one of the healers took it and opened it.
Healers were trained to discern poisons, so they could tell it was a simple spirit-energy-locking poison.
"Why would you have this, Lady Ana?" the healer asked in surprise.
But considering she wasn’t a cultivator, her father must have given it to her in case someone attacked her. A poison like that could save her life. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
After checking that the poison was safe, one of the healers rolled a pill out and put it into her mouth. Because of the bruise on her face, Ana’s brows furrowed in pain when she had to open her mouth, a whine leaving her throat.
Of course, that was just another one of Michelle’s acts.
Swallowing the poison, she observed how it worked within her body. It was indeed given to her by Vincent, just like the healers had guessed, so she had never tested it on herself.
She was a bit worried it wouldn’t work on her properly since her spirit energy flowed through her veins. She didn’t have separate spirit veins.
Luckily, ordinary healers couldn’t see that, so her secret of possessing Spirit Soul Blood was safe. To be able to see the state of someone’s spirit blood, a healer would have to undergo further training and study. It was impossible for someone from the group to have undergone it, since they weren’t even proper ordinary healers.
Those advanced healers were called Spirit Healers, or Vein Healers, and it was considered a mastery just like any other. Which one a person pursued depended on them. Both were understood by everyone.
Actually, Spirit Healer mastery was one of the rarer masteries. Because of that, if someone was a Spirit Healer, they would receive quite a few privileges, even if they were only a beginner in the mastery.
Thinking about all that, Michelle returned to observing the poison she had eaten. To her surprise, it was actually working on her, even though she didn’t have spirit veins.
It swept throughout her whole body, including her veins, and pushed all her spirit energy down to her abdomen. There, it forced it into her dantian.
For Michelle, it was a strange feeling. Her dantian was rarely filled with spirit energy, since it was flowing through her veins most of the time. Her dantian was only full when she was cultivating.
Suddenly, her veins felt empty and her dantian stuffed.
But the healers didn’t notice that. Seeing that the spirit energy gnawing at Ana’s wounds was gone, they quickly proceeded to heal her.
They pushed light-element spirit energy into her wounds to speed up the healing process. And it seemed to work. Ana’s bruises started rapidly disappearing.
What they didn’t know was that their spirit energy didn’t have any effect. Michelle’s body was actually rejecting them. The reason her bruises disappeared so quickly was because of the extreme healing abilities her Spirit Soul Blood had given her. A single bruise could disappear within a matter of seconds. If it was especially big or deep, it could take a few minutes.
Since Alexander didn’t hold back when punching Michelle, the bruises did take over five minutes to heal, but that was actually good. The healers knew the extent to which they could speed up someone’s healing. If it went too quickly, they would get suspicious.
When Ana was healed, she wanted to sit up, but the healers held her down. "You still need to rest! Stay lying down!"
"Fine..." Ana grumbled, clearly unhappy. She was bored of doing nothing and just lying down.
The healers left Ana to rest, leaving only one girl behind to watch over her so she wouldn’t do something dumb.
Leonard was observing the tent where Ana was being healed. When the healers came out, he quickly went over. "Is she fine now?" he asked.
"Yes, Young Master!" one of them nodded. "She should just rest to recover her energy," he added.
Hearing that, Leonard entered the tent. He had seen Ana’s bruised face when he found out she was back at the clearing. Seeing her healed face was a nice change. "What happened?" he asked, not even letting Ana greet him.
Ana wanted to sit up, but the healer girl shot her a glare, so she stayed down. "It’s nothing much, actually!" she shrugged.
Leonard frowned. "You were found beaten to the point where you couldn’t move on your own, but it was nothing much? You should be happy nothing was broken!"
Ana felt like rolling her eyes. "Young Master Leonard, even if I tell you what happened, you wouldn’t be able to do anything to the culprits."
Her words felt like a stab to Leonard’s pride and identity. As the Young Master of the Ostrich family, he felt obligated to keep peace during the journey. If someone did something wrong, they would be punished. So why was Ana saying he wouldn’t be able to do it?
"Was it Elen and Leonia who hurt you?" he asked. "They were the only ones who left the clearing."
Ana didn’t answer, making Leonard gnash his teeth. "Answer me, Ana!" he raised his voice.
Ana smiled slightly. "Young Master, if it was them, what would you do? If I say it was them, they could easily say I’m only accusing them. In the end, our relationship is clearly one of animosity. They could even say I hurt myself to frame them."
Leonard froze. Ana’s words somehow made sense, but he didn’t like it. There had to be a loophole in it. One that Ana left on purpose for him to find. It felt like she was testing him, to see whether he would find it on his own, or if she would have to tell him.
