The Extra's Reincarnation-Chapter 60: Aelius Day (2)
Finally, we were at the main capital of the Kingdom Of Aureus.
When we entered the gates, the guards didn’t even bother to check our carriage. It just proves how influential and important the Florence family was, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
As we made our way through the bustling streets, I couldn’t believe how lively and vibrant it was so early in the morning.
Colorful banners fluttered in the breeze, and the air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and baking pastries.
People from all walks of life streamed towards the city center, their faces alight with anticipation.
As we got off our carriage, I truly underestimated how well celebrated this day was.
It wasn’t just people of the human race, but also elves, intelligent monsters, and even dwarves.
The First Emperor Aelius must have been a truly influential leader to have united all races in celebration.
"My lady, what do you have planned for us today?" Nivel asked curiously.
He was dressed in a fancy suit that made him seem out of place. Despite his discomfort, it seemed he didn’t mind the suit.
"Well, just like always, there’s a ceremonial introduction that everyone gets up early to see, King Aureus will explain today’s events with some updates on news related sources and afterwards Aelius day officially begins,"
"Oh I see, well I’ll be looking forward to todays celebration,"
"I hope you do," Ophelia smiled.
As we made our way deeper into the streets, I couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer scale of the celebration.
The capital was a riot of color and sound, with street performers entertaining crowds on every corner and the tantalizing aroma of festival food wafting through the air.
Ezekiel’s eyes were as wide as saucers, darting from one spectacle to the next.
"Look, Julian!"
He nudged me by the arm, pointing to a group of mages creating dazzling illusions in the air.
"Have you ever seen magic like that?"
I shook my head, genuinely impressed. The display was far beyond anything I’d witnessed in our small town.
Diana strolled next to me, her back held high with an air of elegance, yet her eyes revealed her excitement for today.
"The royal mages always put on quite a show for Aelius Day," she explained.
"Just wait until you see the main ceremony."
As we made our way towards the central square, the crowd became increasingly thick. Lady Florence confidently guided us through, her notable status earning us courteous nods and easy passage. Eventually, we arrived at a prime spot near the front of the gathering where we could see everything clearly.
In an instant, the bustling square fell into a hushed silence as an orchestra started playing from the rooftops of buildings. Their melodic tunes filled the town for 10 minutes before coming to a grand finale.
And then, as if by magic, a massive crystal screen materialized above the central platform.
Without delay, the image of King Paul Aureus II flickered to life on the screen, capturing the attention of all who were gathered
Even through the screen, his presence was commanding.
He had his golden crown shining in the sunlight, and his eyes held a warmth that seemed to reach out to each person in the crowd.
"My beloved people," his voice boomed, rich and resonant.
"Today, we gather to commemorate more than just our past - we celebrate our future. Aelius Day serves as a reminder of the strength that comes from unity and the unwavering power of hope in even the darkest of times. 3 millennia ago, The First King Aelius brought together all continents, uniting nations and ending the reign of terror of the King of Demons. Through his sacrifice and bravery during a grueling battle that lasted weeks, he showed us why we should never give up, no matter how dire the circumstances…"
As the King concluded his speech, he began to make announcements for the day’s events.
"My apologies for another long speech everyone, so let me get on to the next segment for today’s events… so we have an extra special announcement. In honor of our great ancestor and to secure the prosperity of our kingdom for generations to come, we will be hosting a grand tournament: The Royal 8 Challenge!"
A ripple of excitement passed through the crowd. Beside me, I felt Diana stiffen slightly.
"Along with the activities planned out for today, as well, as the annual fighting tournament, we plan to have young warriors and mages from across the land to have the chance to prove their worth and vie for the honored position of Royal Blade to my daughter, Princess Francine."
The screen split, revealing a young girl with golden hair and piercing blue eyes. She smiled sweetly and I already knew immediately of who this person was.
Francine Evalina Aureus
The novels only regressor and the true main character of this world.
Before Kaelen’s existence, she lived an entire 82 lives before he came along.
She is the Princess that is determined to stop this world from ending.
Now you may be wondering, if she had lived 82 lives to save this world, why wasn’t she able to ever do it in at least one of them?
The reason for that isn’t so simple.
In most of her lives, she had spent most of her lives chasing after the wrong person for help.
Believing that this person could make a difference in preventing the end, she failed to realize that they were responsible for her death in every single lifetime.
Their relationship was doomed from the start, and I could only hope that Francine can realize it now before it’s too late.
"Holy smokes! She’s so pretty…"

Ezekiel’s jaw dropped at the sight of Francine.
Diana couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Ezekiel’s reaction and playfully nudged him with her elbow.
"Get a grip, Ez," she muttered. "You know someone like her would never give you a second look."
Ezekiel’s hopeful expression quickly faded as Diana’s words brought him back to reality.
"You’re right…"
"…Now, we’ve spread the word across the continent and I’m hoping to see if your child has what it takes to fulfill the position. If you’d like more information on this event, visit the Kingdom’s informant center. But enough announcements… Let the celebration begin!"
The King finished his announcement and the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. The square buzzed with energy as people excitedly discussed the unexpected news of the Royal 8 Challenge.
I glanced at Diana, noticing the slight furrow in her brow.
"Did you know about this?" I asked quietly.
She shook her head, her eyes still fixed on the now-fading image of Princess Francine.
"No, not really,"
Lady Florence clapped her hands together, beaming.
"Well, isn’t this exciting? A chance for young talents to prove themselves to the royal family. Julian, Ezekiel, perhaps you two should consider entering!"
Ezekiel looked around nervously and I could tell that even he didn’t want to do it.
"Uh…Ah… I think I’ll pass on this one."
He’s a Prince of another kingdom and participating in the challenge might violate many laws on Ventus soil.
But still, I’ve never heard of this ’Royal 8 Challenge’ in the novel.
It wasn’t explained or elaborated by any of the characters within my memory so I needed to be sure of what it is.
