The Extra's Survival-Chapter 148: Sanctum OfDespondence[3]
Lucas looked at the huge round sphere ball of light that fell from the sky like a comet but before reaching the ground it dispersed into countless small streaks of light in different directions.
The sphere of light would release a certain number of small crystals which will decide the number of participants who will qualify for going to the next round.
To qualify for the next round, a challenger would have to obtain a crystal and retain it for a certain time after infusing its mana.
After infusing his mana, the crystal would mark the infuser's mana and he will be teleported out of the dungeon marking his qualifications.
This scene reminded Lucas of the airdrops in a certain shooting game in his previous life. Those who managed to secure the drops that fall from the sky as fast as possible would receive a head start at the beginning of the match.
The same case is applied here. Anyone who was able to acquire and retain it in his possession would be able to qualify for the next round.
Only the time required to infuse the crystal to make it yours wasn't exactly a short period.
It was neither too long nor too short. It depends on the user's mana level. A 3-Star rank warrior can infuse his mana faster than that of a 2-Star rank warrior.
On the other hand, mages had an upper hand in the same rank.
Be it guarding the crystal or snatching it crystal from others, it required skill and effort to put off.
In this sense, there were many loopholes in this time of competition.
If there is a huge disparity of strength and there is a guy with monstrous strength, he could monopolise all the crystals and eliminate everyone else according to his will.
He could also claim all the crystals and passed do his friends or bargain for something in return, granting him favours.
For a guy who seeks profit and had the strength to achieve the crystal, this round is an icing cake for him.
Such behaviour was permitted and the organized committee didn't eliminate the loophole rather they justified it by saying that it will take all the skills from luck to strength, adaptability and connections to pass the round.
You can do anything at your disposal to reach your goals. After all, that's how the world work in real.
Lucas's first goal was to acquire the crystals for himself to ensure that he will be able to move on to the next round.
Lucas noticed that a few skeletons were slowly rising from the vicinity, and as he saw a huge number of them surrounding him, he activated the Ring of Karakarass aura of death so that they may not able to identify him.
Ghosts were not the main problem is they are just vengeful spirits without any physical existence so they don't possess much harm unless they are higher level.
Only a vengeful ghost of many years old which had been tainted with malevolence for many years and had fed on negative energy for years can harm you by trying to take over your soul which is rarely successful.
Lucas raised the Ring of Karkarass and tried to send a wisp of its death aura to deter the skeletons from approaching him. He thought it might work as King Karkarass was said to have reached a level near Godhood.
But that was from his memory that he got from his other self and doesn't know in actuality how much strength he was.
Lucas didn't know whether there was any necromancer in the sanctum or would he encounter any but it would troublesome if they got a glimpse of the ring.
But seeing the army of skeletons advancing towards him, he had to use the ring of Karkarass.
The skeletons did fall back upon sensing the Ring of Karkarass aura but the next moment they felt something was amiss as they felt both life and death aura coming from the person before them.
But they didn't go near him after all they don't have so much intelligence to weigh the pros and cons and identify the loophole so they just stood there looking at each other like an idiot.
As Lucas smiled, thinking that his trick worked, he heard a loud galloping sound that woke the skeletons from their stupor.
Gallop...Gallop...Gallop.
Lucas heard the loud galloping sound of the hooves and he scanned his surroundings searching for the source of th sound he finally noticed it.
A D rank horse rushed toward with a frightening speed at Lucas as if it had found his prey.
The horse was a skeleton structure and a greenish aura was emitted from his body and his eyes were burning with greenish flames.
Lucas cursed his luck. He was too weak to cover his life aura fully with the death aura using the Ring of Karkarass so the horse who seemed to D rank was able to identify Lucas's life aura more profoundly and marked him as his enemy, it came charging straight at him.
As the beast ran toward Lucas, it crushed the skeleton army in front of him.
CRACK!CRACK!
The skeletons were either crushed or blasted away by the horse made charge who didn't seem to mind the surroundings.
It looked as if except for Lucas, it didn't have an eye for anyone.
Lucas summoning an ice spike, shot ice spikes toward it but the beast jumped here and there and sidestepped by jumping on its grooves and in this manner avoided the ice spikes from assaulting it.
The ice spikes collided with the ground and shattered and blasted away the skeletons.
Lucas kicked a skeleton that was coming from behind and jumped towards a nearby tree which was behind him and using the trunk of the tree as a foothold, he leapt towards the horse by stomping the tree trunk.
Lucas's body shot toward the horse like a cannonball and pulling his sword, he slashed at the incoming horse.
Swish...
Lucas's body passed through the horse like lightning while the horse who tried to give them a head butt passes Lucas unable to touch a hair of Lucas.
A small thud was heard and bones from the neck of the horse fall along with the skull on the ground with a small thud.
A Lucas landed on the ground, he heard a clack-clack sound coming from behind and turned back to see that that skull had broken free from the horse and fallen on the ground was emitting that sound.
Moreover, the horse that lost its upper portion was still dashing ahead and was running here and there madly, as if it was looking for its head.
"Damn! It didn't die, even after this " Lucas muttered with a shocked expression.
"Do I have to destroy his whole body?"Lucas thought.
Though he had seen many movies and read many novels and manga in his previous life it was the first time, he was dealing with the undead.
It was the first time he was fighting with the undead and he was all alone in this fight.
He looked at the wriggling horse skull and moved towards it.
Some skeleton tried to block Lucas but he just swung the sword.
Each slash tore the upper half of the skeleton which even after falling to the ground, didn't die and like a persistent cockroach they crawled on the ground coming towards his feet and trying to pull Lucas down the ground.
" Damn!", Lucas cursed as he felt that he was fighting a bunch of annoying flies that refused to die.
He stomped on the skulls which were squirming around him.
CRACK!CRACK!CRACK
The sound of the breaking of bones was heard that reverberated across the deadly silence of the first as Lucas stomped and crushed the skull.
Lucas's hands glowed and lightning started to merge from his hand.
Lucas stomped on the ground and his body shot up, his kick made a crack in the ground and some skeletons were crushed.
Lucas jumped up and raised his palms pointing downwards, he shouted"Lightning blast!"
Streaks of lightning condensed in his palms and were shot down towards the bunch of skeletons.
ZIP!ZIP!ZIP!
BOOOM!
A small explosion took place with a shockwave as lightning spread across the ground.
The skeletons were thrown back by the blast and their bodies were crushed and the old decayed bones of the skeleton turned into powder of white ash and were scattered by the air.
Lucas landed on their feet and heaved a sigh of relief and dashed towards the horse's skull.
Appearing before it, he thought that breaking it would kill the horse entirely.
He wasn't sure about it and it was just an experiment on his part but he had a hunch that doing this could kill it as he saw the skeleton who was crushed and turned into ash by his previous attack completely disappeared.
As he reached near the skull and was about to step on it, he saw an amusing scene.
The horse galloping here and there, which was in a frenzied state, after flattening many undead skeletons dashed towards a huge canopy tree and crashed against the wall.
BANG!
With a loud blast, the bones of the horse flew here and there and fall on the ground and broke into pieces.
Lucas looked at the scene with his jaw wide open. He was stunned for a moment.
H didn't know how to react, he wanted to laugh but seeing the current situation, he was in no mood to laugh.
Coming onto his sense, he looked around and thought, the horse surely made his work easy.
