The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 426: Then let me give you a fortune-telling performance.
Chapter 426: Chapter 426: Then let me give you a fortune-telling performance.
On the other side, at the Aerial Garden.
Scarlett Jennings had parted ways with Chase and Adam Jennings as soon as she heard Ava Zimmerman had left early.
It wasn’t as if they were particularly close; she’d only come with Adam because it was convenient.
More importantly, standing next to Chase, she was afraid of catching his "idiot energy."
Scarlett had come to the party tonight mainly to see Ava Zimmerman. Since Ava had left, she planned to leave as well.
But before leaving, she had to say goodbye to Alicia Sharp.
As tonight’s main host, Alicia was naturally surrounded by a crowd.
When Scarlett approached, she overheard someone asking about Alicia’s sister, Chloe Sharp.
Back when Dashiell Xalvadora, the first guest on the debut season of "Inspiration," was exposed to be a serial killer, discussions about him raged online for quite some time.
However, in their elite social circle, the focus of conversation wasn’t Dashiell but rather Chloe Sharp, who had been in a passionate relationship with him at the time.
"Your sister really has poor taste in men. But Dashiell Xalvadora’s been behind bars for months now—why is she still hiding from everyone? She’s your sister, after all. She went through so much, yet you didn’t bring her to your birthday party?"
People in the circle had more or less heard about the Sharp Family drama. Alicia Sharp had single-handedly reclaimed her rightful position as the eldest daughter.
Mad as she was, she made it work.
Most of the younger elites in the circle admired Alicia, but there were a few who couldn’t stand her smug demeanor. Bringing up Chloe was an obvious attempt to provoke her.
Unfortunately for them, Alicia wasn’t the type to cater even to her own father, much less someone else.
"Who doesn’t know that my relationship with Chloe Sharp is terrible? Why would I bring her to my birthday party?"
She purposefully paused, glancing at the person who brought it up and sneering,
"People who lack brains but love to flit around annoy me."
The surrounding young elites couldn’t resist chuckling at her words.
Alicia’s remark seemed directed at Chloe, but everyone knew who she was really talking about.
The person looked mortified but didn’t dare openly confront Alicia. They could only grab a drink to cover their embarrassment.
Alicia ignored them and continued chatting and laughing with others. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Scarlett and cheerfully waved her over,
"Scarlett, come over here!"
Scarlett walked over, immediately drawing the attention of several young elites nearby.
They were genuinely curious about her.
It wasn’t just because of her online fame but also due to her prediction about the kindergarten field trip accident, which ended up saving a group of kids.
Some of those kids were the siblings of people present at this very party.
For once, they had a chance to see her up close, and everyone was eager to interact. Hearing she was about to leave, a few instantly started making a fuss, including Phaedra York, who had been livestreaming earlier.
"Scarlett Jennings, it’s Alicia’s birthday today. You just got here, and now you’re leaving? That’s a bit rude, isn’t it?"
"Yeah, you don’t even show up to most of our gatherings. Do you look down on us or what?"
If this had been a more formal banquet, perhaps they wouldn’t have behaved like this.
But tonight’s crowd was all similar in age, and with no elders keeping watch, even though they knew Scarlett wasn’t quite one of them, they couldn’t help but tease her a little.
Scarlett could sense that while a couple of people weren’t well-meaning, most had no bad intentions. She didn’t want to spoil the mood, so she thought for a moment and said,
"How about I perform a fortune-telling for you?"
Alicia had originally intended to help her smooth things over, since Scarlett was her guest. But before Alicia could step in, Scarlett took the initiative to respond.
The young elites paused briefly, surprised at Scarlett’s directness, then quickly grew interested.
"Yes, yes! Let’s do it!"
They’d seen Scarlett on variety programs showcasing her ghost-hunting and fortune-telling skills. She’d even accurately predicted that Winsor Family heiress was scammed out of thirty million in pocket money by her scumbag boyfriend.
Many had long wanted to experience it firsthand.
The loudest of the crowd, Phaedra, enthusiastically pulled out her phone, grinning as she asked,
"Scarlett Jennings, you don’t mind if I livestream your fortune-telling, do you?"
Scarlett glanced at the phone in his hand and replied,
"I’d advise you not to go live."
Phaedra assumed she was concerned about privacy and felt a little disappointed,
"Come on, it’s just for fun. You’ve done livestreams while appearing on shows. I’ll even give you all the livestream tips if that’s what you want."
He thought she was asking for money.
Scarlett eyed him and suddenly asked,
"You recently visited your family’s ancestral grave, didn’t you?"
Her seemingly random question left Phaedra stunned. He instinctively asked, "How do you know?"
"I not only know that—I also know you secretly started a livestream during the visit."
Scarlett’s statement made the gathered elites exchange disapproving glances.
They knew Phaedra loved streaming for fun. Broadcasting their leisure outings was one thing, but livestreaming during an ancestral memorial? Risking that taboo?
None of them deeply believed in such things, but they still respected the traditions passed down by the older generations.
Phaedra didn’t give it much thought. Hearing Scarlett say this, he naturally asked,
"Did you watch my stream?"
He didn’t even deny it—last week his family had indeed traveled back home for their patriarch’s death anniversary. His grandfather took everyone to pay their respects as usual.
He had streamed briefly, mainly to show off to his followers the grandeur of how rich people held ancestral ceremonies.
Scarlett shook her head, "I didn’t watch your stream, but your phone is stained with shadow energy. You probably offended your ancestors during the broadcast."
She hadn’t said "Shadow Spirit" but explicitly mentioned the ancestors because the shadow energy on his phone carried a faint trace of familial fortune binding them to him.
The ancestors must have been angry but, restrained by familial ties, couldn’t really punish him, so they left shadow energy on his phone.
Even so, Phaedra himself had picked up a trace amount of shadow energy.
Phaedra hadn’t expected her to say he offended his ancestors. His heart immediately sank, fearing she might be right. But in front of everyone, he refused to lose face and countered,
"You’re saying that like it’s true? How am I supposed to know you’re not just making it up to scare me?"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. Seeing his reaction, she didn’t budge,
"If you want to know whether I’m lying, just start your livestream right now and you’ll find out."
She gestured toward his phone.
Phaedra looked at her and hesitated, holding his phone with visibly shaky hands, unwilling to start the stream.
The others saw his wavering and couldn’t help but jeer once more,
"No way, Phaedra, don’t tell me you’re scared?"
Among the younger elite, they enjoyed stirring up a commotion. Though a few tried to persuade him otherwise, the majority egged him on.
Phaedra, worried about losing face, gritted his teeth and said,
"Afraid of what? It’s just a livestream! I was streaming earlier, wasn’t I? Fine, I’ll do it!"
With that, he turned the livestream back on.
As soon as the stream started up, viewers flooded in rapidly, drawn by the host’s name.
[Finally, he’s back online!]
[Saw this trending. Someone said you’d show us my baby girl?]
[Young master! Keep us entertained!]
Seeing the familiar audience and their comments, Phaedra immediately regained his confidence,
"See? It’s on. Everything’s fine, same as usual. Scarlett Jennings, you were clearly just trying to scare me..."
Mid-sentence, as he moved the camera toward Scarlett, the stream’s screen suddenly went pitch black.
The next instant, a sinister ghostly face loomed from the screen and rushed at him...
