THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 398: Kill The Mood
The garden unfolded before them in a burst of color, vibrant roses in full bloom, lavender bushes gently swaying in the breeze, and tall hedges that created a secluded, almost magical atmosphere.
At the center, a small pond reflected the canopy of intertwined branches above, dappling the garden in soft, filtered light.
He followed Lauren down the cobblestone path, his steps slow and deliberate as if he were afraid he might miss out on any memory that could be triggered by the things around him.
Lauren guided him toward a rustic stone bench near the pond. She sat down, patting the spot beside her.
"We spent hours here, just talking and dreaming," she said, her voice tinged with fondness. "You even put up that swing for me when I joked about wanting one."
She pointed to a wooden swing hanging from a sturdy oak tree, the ropes worn but still intact.
Steffan approached the swing, running his fingers over the rough wood. His eyes scanned the surroundings as if hoping something might trigger a memory.
But there was nothing...just the quiet rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds.
Lauren watched him intently, her heart aching at the sight of his struggle. She reached for his hand, her touch grounding him in the present. "You don’t need to force yourself," she reassured him. "I brought you here because I thought... maybe it could help."
Steffan squeezed her hand, his gaze sweeping over the garden once more. The tranquility of the place washed over him, calming the frustration that had been bubbling inside.
"It’s beautiful," he murmured, his voice laced with a quiet awe.
They sat together in comfortable silence, and when Steffan glanced at Lauren, his eyes softened when he saw the hope and love reflected in her eyes.
He appreciated it that she had brought him here not just to jog his memory, but to remind him of the bond they shared.
"I may not remember anything," Steffan said, breaking the silence. "But I can feel how special this place was and still is to us and I know that I love you, Lauren. And I want to create new memories with you, here and everywhere else."
Lauren’s eyes glistened with tears, her smile radiant as she leaned in to kiss him. "That’s all I’ve ever wanted," she whispered against his lips. "Just us, here, making the best of what we have."
Steffan kissed the top of her head. "Then that’s what we’ll do."
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting golden hues across the garden, Lauren rested her head on Steffan’s shoulder, her fingers intertwining with his.
Steffan pulled her closer, holding her as if anchoring himself to this place that felt like home even in the fragments of his mind.
As he gazed at the person who was a part of that feeling, his eyes darkened inexplicably with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine.
The air between them thickened and was charged with unspoken desires that neither of them dared to ignore.
Lauren instinctively looked up and a familiar ache began to bloom in her chest at the way Steffan’s hand moved to cup her face. His thumb brushing along her cheek, sent a shiver of anticipation down her spine.
She knew what would follow if she didn’t act fast, but wasn’t that what she also wanted?
"Lauren?" Seeing her hesitation, Steffan murmured, his voice low and laced with a hunger that made her hesitation melt.
Steffan’s fingers trailed down to her neck, lingering at the pulse point beating rapidly beneath his touch.
She leaned into his touch and her eyes fluttered shut as a soft sigh escaped her lips.
She tilted her head and allowed her lips brush against his, soft and tentative at first as if she was testing the waters.
But the moment their lips met, it was like a dam broke, the tentative touch quickly deepened into something more urgent and consuming.
Steffan’s lips trailed from her mouth to her neck, planting soft kisses along the sensitive skin. Lauren’s head tipped back, giving him access as her fingers tangled in his hair.
Every kiss sent a jolt of pleasure through her, and she couldn’t help the soft moan that escaped her lips, her body arching into his touch.
Steffan’s hand slid to the back of her neck, his fingers tangling in her hair as he pulled her closer.
The kiss got deeper and fierce, as if he was trying to make up for all the lost moments they hadn’t shared.
Lauren’s hands gripped his shirt, anchoring herself as the world tilted beneath her feet. She could feel the heat radiating off him, the sheer need in the way he held her, as if he couldn’t bear to let go.
She gasped against his lips as Steffan’s hand found the small of her back, drawing her against his fired up manhood.
The feel of his manhood pressed against hers sent a wave of heat crashing over her, and for a moment, she even forgot to breathe.
The world around them ceased to exist; all that mattered was the taste of his lips, the feel of his hands and the way their hearts beat in unison.
Steffan’s hand drifted lower, tracing the curve of her waist, and Lauren felt herself teetering on the edge of surrender.
She wanted this, she wanted him more than she could put into words. But as Steffan’s hand dipped lower to explore further, something in Lauren’s mind clicked.
"Steffan," she whispered breathlessly, reluctantly pressing her palms against his chest to create some distance between them.
Steffan stopped, his breathing heavy, eyes clouded with desire as he looked at her, trying to gauge what had changed.
"Lauren?" he asked in a voice husky with need.
Lauren bit her lip as she fought the urge to close the distance between them again. But she knew she had to be the one to pull back, with the nagging reminder of time slipping away.
She managed a small, teasing smile, though her voice was thick with the weight of her own longing.
"I seem to remember a certain doctor telling me that he was only free for the afternoon and was slated to supervise a surgery," she whispered, her fingers still tracing the lines of his shirt. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Steffan blinked, the haze of desire slowly lifting as her words registered. He let out a soft groan, pressing his forehead to hers as he tried to catch his breath.
"You really know how to kill the mood, don’t you?" he said, though his lips curved into a playful smile.
Lauren laughed softly, her hand slipping from his chest to cup his cheek. "Someone has to keep us grounded," she replied, though the heat lingering in her eyes mirrored his.
Steffan sighed, pulled her into a gentle embrace, his arms wrapping around her as he pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead before finally releasing her.
He helped her to her feet, and they stood there for a while longer, neither quite ready to leave but knowing they had to.
Eventually they still had to leave.
Lauren talked animatedly as they drove back, the sun set behind them, casting long shadows that stretched out over the road,
They were a few kilometers to the city when
a black SUV appeared from nowhere and screeched to a halt in front of them.
