Chapter 418: Full Package

But just before she got to her seat, she was suddenly caught in an embrace and a kiss forced on her lips from nowhere.

Before she could react just like today, and give the person a well deserved slap, she opened her eyes to see that it was Steffan Rosse... the same handsome doctor that had been invading her dream and every waking thoughts since she laid her eyes on him and seen again some weeks back at a club where they’d accidentally met to drown their sorrows.

He had taken advantage of her stunned silence to trace the outline of her nose, down to her lips, and whispered, "please, play along."

"And why should I?" She had retorted. Not that she hated the idea of kissing him. After all, she was so in love with him and couldn’t wait to feel those lips on hers again. But she needed a reason that wouldn’t make her appear desperate or and too eager.

"Don’t you want that piece of furniture to disappear from your sight?" Steffan had said and gestured with his chin towards her date who was about to burst from anger.

"I also want my parents over there to get out of my hair. Don’t look," he had added when she wanted to check them out.

’Now I get it,’ Lauren muttered inwardly, ’he was also here on an arranged date as her, and probably to ensure he doesn’t ditch the lady, his parents had taken it upon themselves to come along. Quite interesting. I’ll be damned if I let go of this golden opportunity. Come on, Lauren, it’s time to launch out for the great catch,’ she said to herself.

"Hmm! So you finally admit that my plan is useful after all." The spread of a peacock’s feather could only play second fiddle compared to the proud smile on Lauren’s face.

She couldn’t help but smirk when his head went up and down in a reluctant nod.

She had suggested that day at the bar when they found themselves in a similar situation that they pretend to be dating so that their parents can get off their backs and stop setting them up on blind dates with people they hardly knew anything about but he had charmingly rejected her proposal.

"You don’t have to agree, but I already knew it was the best way out for both of us. Both our parents want to force someone on us and force us to settle down. Since your parents are here, we’ll give them a good show," she said.

After getting Steffan’s nod again, she continued. "So now that we’re pretending to be dating, why don’t we make it more real? You’ll agree with me that a single kiss will not be convincing enough."

"What do you mean?" Steffan asked suspiciously as she saw the way Lauren’s eyes suddenly glinted mischievously.

Lauren didn’t bother responding as she directly put her words into action and caught his lips just as suddenly as he had done with hers a few minutes back.

For a moment they forgot that they were both acting as they got lost in the kiss and it was not until they heard throats clearing around them, that they pulled apart.

"Get a room, man," someone hissed as he stormed past them.

Lauren, who had been actively kissing a man in an open restaurant without a single care in the world moments ago, suddenly lowered her head shyly.

Not long after, from the corner of her lowered eyes, Lauren saw her date, storm out of the restaurant, leaving a trail of curses behind as he passed by them.

"Wow! That was faster and more effective than I ever imagined," she couldn’t help but laugh.

"Hey, sweetheart. Are you here alone? Why don’t you join us at our table?"

Lauren raised her head only to be lost in the warmth of one of the kindest smiles she’d ever received.

Before you could say, ’Jack Robinson, she was whisked away by Sarah, leaving a stunned Steffan standing alone in the middle of the room.

"Seriously? Are you that desperate, mom?" Steffan couldn’t help but shake his head and follow behind like an abandoned puppy.

Sarah Rosse, who has been waiting for ages for Steffan to show at least a fleeting interest in any lady, wasted no time in introducing Lauren to the rest of the family.

This was the first time he was seeing Steffan close to any woman. Even Dolly whim she had been forcing in him all this years could not even manage to draw out a light peck on the cheek from him, but here he was kissing a woman so deeply that she feared they were going to make love in the middle of the restaurant if nothing was done quickly.

After getting her to tell them her name, Sarah had said, "And I am Sarah Rosse, Steffan’s mother. Welcome to the family." She had released that beautiful smile that left Lauren no choice than to relax and blend with everyone, forcing her and Steffan to gradually translate the false relationship to what it is today.

A soft bite on her lips brought her back to the present and she looked up at Steffan with starry eyes.

"You mean..." Lauren’s voice faltered and she blinked faster to be sure it was really happening.

"Yes, love." There was a visible sparkle in Steffan’s eyes as he drew her closer to him. He could feel her racing heart and her shaking hands. "I remember everything. You. Us. Our wedding... and everything that happened before and afterwards." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Lauren’s breath hitched as the weight of his words sunk in. She was torn between hope and disbelief. "You... you’ve regained your memory?" Her voice was barely a whisper.

Steffan nodded. "I have. It all came back to me."

Tears pricked at Lauren’s eyes as an indescribable joy flooded through her. She reached out and cupped his face between her palms. "Welcome back my love..."

"Happy now? You now have your full package," Steffan grinned.

"Yeah, if you can have it all why settle for less?" Lauren said before asteffan took her hand and led her to sit.

"When did you..."

"The moment I regained consciousness at Dolly’s place," Steffan answered before Lauren could finish her question.

"That fight brought so many flashes and incidents where I saw myself saving you from a group of hoodlums. And again, when that gun was pointed to your head... the scene at the wedding came rushing back and that was when the headache became so intense that I lost focus which gave those guys the opportunity to strike.

"I wouldn’t say the fight was completely a bad thing then... it was in fact a blessing in disguise. I’m surprised it took a total knockout for that brain of yours to come back to life," Lauren teased lightly.

"That’s easy for you to say because you were not the one at the receiving end," Steffan complained, looking all aggrieved and hurt.

"But then, in a way I’m happy I got into that fight because at the end of the day, Dolly’s schemes eventually turned out in our favor."

Lauren’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Speaking of Dolly and her ridiculous schemes, did you really not feel anything for her when she did all that thing with you?"
