The Forgotten Slayer-Chapter 11: Welcome Home
Chapter 11 - Welcome Home
Judging from what Ava had told her, there was two types of invasions from the underworld. A dominant being could create the pathway themselves or a swarm of monsters could claw their way out together. Since this was a threat rating of ember it was more likely to be a swarm because if it had been a singular being, it must have been stronger to come out alone.
The threat level was typically evaluated based on the intensity of tremors within the ground in addition to energy readings.
Bell was still nervous mainly because this would be her first time against such foes.
A minute passed and the first wave of beast came out. Large boar like creatures with tusk that pointed straight outward could be seen.
Their sheer number was overwhelming to Bell. Looking behind her, Ava was standing with no hint of fear in her eyes.
A lot of people from the academy had shown up as well. Strangely, Lapis was nowhere to be found.
Seeing the other people had already began repelling the attack, Bell ran forward herself. She was given a weapon before hand from Ava, a small blue knife.
Three of these boars made it passed people in front of her. One was charging directly for her. The other two ran in seperate directions as if they couldn't be bothered.
Easily dodging to the right of the boar, Bell slid the knife that was in her right hand against the side of the boar.
The beast fell over sideways with its guts coming out. Bell had yet to learn the essence of weapon infusion or how to properly control her abilities but she couldn't deny her sharp reflexes.
Another few minutes passed with Bell killing six other beast. Something was definitely wrong. The boar didn't seem to be looking for a fight, as if they were truly running away. Furthermore, dozens and dozens of these things were still continuing to climb out of the hole.
Ava stepped forward.
"Do you feel it Bell? Close your eyes."
The trembling was ongoing. Except it seemed to be growing louder.
"What does it mean?"
"If I was guessing, something strong is about to appear. Let me handle it."
Ava ordered all of the students that had gathered around to move back. When the area was clear all of the remaining hordes of beast turned to ice and shattered. In fact it seemed as if the entire hole was frozen over.
After a second Bell believed the entire thing was taken care of, but if that the case then why was Ava still looking at it?
An explosion erupted from the ground causing debris to fly everywhere. A large wall of smoke could be seen towering above the height of the city walls. It could likely be seen from a great distance.
A creature that looked like a large serpent appeared.
It was a Wyrm.
Jumping fully out of the hole, it lunged straight at Ava. For the first time ever, Bell saw Ava unsheathe a weapon. She struck the air in front of her in a cross formation. Hundreds of small ice shards flew toward the massive creature.
The Wyrm opened its mouth consuming them all.
The dark green scales of the beast turned to an icy white. Ava looked annoyed, yet impressed.
The large snake opened its mouth and shot out a beam of raw ice. Ava moved out of the way fast enough. Bell barely managed to react in time. The entire middle section of this road was destroyed and Bell noticed some people that were hit became frozen.
This type of situation was definitely not at the level of ember. In fact this monster must have been worthy of the flame rating which was the next level above.
Bell began to worry. She was sure Ava could take care of the beast alone but a few people have already became victims.
Ava's voice boomed.
"Watch closely!"
A sphere was taken the place where Ava was standing. The temperature must have dropped dramatically because Bell felt unbelievably cold.
Jumping from the ground, Ava dived directly into the jaws of the beast. Seconds later massive shards of ice pierced the Wyrm from the inside. Following that attack, it shriveled up and flailed around until it eventually stopped moving on the ground.

Bell then saw Ava cut her way out from inside of the beast with a similar knife that Bell was using.
'Is it over?'
Bell looked around and couldn't see any other monsters. The other students were so star struck by what had occurred their mouths were wide open. Unfortunately, it seemed there was one more surprise that the underworld had in store.
A golem that was at least triple the size of the Wyrm climbed out of the pit. Glancing over at Ava, Bell noticed she didn't look that great probably because of how much energy she used in one attack. The creature looked as if it was about to stomp her into mush. As it rose its leg up, a bolt of lighting struck the creature in the head. Bell was once again baffled because the lighting came from behind her.
"Did you miss me?"
"Clyde? How did you do that?! Also where have you been!?"
Ignoring Bell, Clyde walked to where Ava was standing.
"We owe me one."
Ava laughed.
"My dear Clyde you have some explaining to do. It can wait for now though."
"However your debt cannot wait. I am starving more than you could imagine."
"Clyde if was being presumptuous, I think you are asking me on a date."
Clyde's face became flushed as he turned to the side.
"Don't flatter yourself."
