The Gigolo System in the Academy of Magic-Chapter 33: Professor Helene’s Conspiracy
Chapter 33 - Professor Helene's Conspiracy
"What's wrong? Are you just going to stand there?"
James cursed in his mind that this woman was too seductive but obediently walked over to the podium.
"Professor, about my question earlier -"
She interrupted him with a lazy wave of her hand and handed him a stack of documents.
"Help me sort these out first," she said lightly.
James blinked. Papers? He frowned. She had only been at the academy for a few days. How could she already have coursework to grade?
When looked at the paper he saw that the page had a photo and some information, there was also an insignia at the top that looked unfamiliar. But what was more eye-catching was that he recognised the photo. It was someone in his year. The information seemed to be discussing the person's origins.
What's the meaning of this? Information the demons secretly collected...why would she show me this?
Helene smiled, "I'll answer your question... after you help me with this. Some of the intel might be inaccurate. I'm hoping you can verify it."
James didn't speak but looking at this enchanting woman, his heart was completely cold.
He glanced above her head, Helene Ashvane [4 (Stranger)]
"What if I say no?" he asked slowly.
Helene shrugged, her arms crossing beneath her generous chest. She leaned back in her seat and tilted her head at him. "Then you can leave, but I won't be able to help you anymore."
James' mind was racing. Was it all intentional? But from when...At that meeting at the library? Why him?
"Why me?" James finally asked aloud.
Helene didn't answer immediately. Instead, she picked up a separate file from her desk and waved it slightly in the air before passing it to him. "We have your file, too."
His hands trembled slightly as he opened the folder.
He saw himself—a photo from orientation, when he'd still been adjusting to academy life. The boy looked a little pale and sickly but he had beautiful dark eyes and a handsome face.
The contents beneath were sparse but striking.
"Civilian. Both parents are deceased. In the custody of unidentified Level 5 mage [Wanderer]—no further information. Minimal magical potential. Enrolled at Ainsworth due to regional quota. Low compatibility with noble peers. Poor relationship with Ryan Everheart, Darien Wren, Emele..."
Is that why she approached him, why she asked about Ryan during the tournament?
"Aren't you afraid I'll tell someone?" he asked suddenly, looking up.
Helene laughed softly. "Tell them what? We're demons going on a delegation to your school of course we'd be interested in the students."
She lifted her eyebrows. "That's just common sense."
"What about how you got this information?" James pressed on anxiously. "You must have spies in the faculty! I'll tell the school!"
Helene's expression didn't change: "We didn't collect this. It was provided by a third party. If you can find the spy, we'll be grateful. After all, if they're in your academy... they must also be on our side as well."
A third party? James filed that bit of information away.
"You have nothing to lose," Helene said gently. "It's just basic information, that's all, trust me you'll be very well rewarded."
Helene's charming smile was in full force, and she winked at him suggestively.
James' expression was conflicted but he sneered in his mind. If he helped the demons, then they would immediately have a handle on him.
The academy might not care about the demons' actions, but what about him? A human mage who helped the demons spy on students?
James felt he had a few options right now.
He could not agree. He didn't think demons could do anything to him, and anyway if he really wanted he could just wait for a while and let the Everhearts entangle with them.
But then he would be wasting his contract with Helene, and if he wanted to thwart the Everhearts plans he also needed to know more information about the demon side.
If he agreed he could also have more opportunities for close contact with Helene and increase her favorability.
This might be an opportunity...As for the risk of being found out by the academy? He had an idea on how to deal with that.
"Are there other students involved?"
Although Helene was the acting professor for the demon delegation, he had heard there were other demon students and faculty in the other years but there were fewer of them.
And he wasn't the only civilian student in the first year, it's just that most of them put their head down and ignored everything and went through the school like invisible people.
"Yes, so don't worry, it's just some information. Do you agree?"
James hesitated for a while but eventually nodded.
Helene stood up and walked around the desk. She reached out and patted him on the shoulder.
"There. That wasn't so hard, was it?"
But just as she turned to leave, James acted.
He grabbed her palm and looked into her eyes with an anxious expression, "Nothing will go wrong, right?!"
Helene froze.
She was much stronger than James, if she wanted to she could get out of his grasp easily. But this time her expression was dazed, and if you looked closely you could see hints of a dark blush creeping on her face.
[Favorability + 1]

[Favorability -1]
The system notifications seemed to indicate her confusion.
"Professor?"
It was only after a dozen seconds that Helene came to her senses. Her smile was a little ugly and she forcefully removed her hands from his, but she still had to comfort him, "Don't worry, only you and I know about this. You can trust me, I won't tell anyone!"
'But I will.' James said in his mind.
After a while, Helene had calmed down, so when James sat at a desk and meticulously looked through the information the demons had gathered, she placed a few books on the table. It was books about the Witch Tribe. Their history, various curses and dark enchantments etc.
"This is what you want, right?"
Seeing James look up, Helene smiled and leaned down, revealing the wide expanse of her chest. Her voice was seductive and entrancing, "Or was it something else?"
James laughed nervously and took the books quickly, which made Helene laugh.
