The Girl Who Reincarnated as a Vampire Heiress-Chapter 188
The vampires had an extremely grand affair, even just for a meal, with a long table set with white candles and a tablecloth draped softly over the edges.
The table was laden with various delicacies and fine dishes.
It was an overwhelming sight to behold.
Daniel shamelessly swallowed his saliva.
How delicious, the food of the wealthy was truly high-class.
His eyes gleamed with envy, wishing he could pounce and clear the table.
But since Xavier hadn't spoken, he obediently stood at the side, not daring to make a sound.
When Xavier sat down and placed Chloe in the chair beside him, he looked at the young ones with a hint of a smile.
He kindly said, "Sit, why are you all just standing there?"
Daniel, Qin Huaibei, and Katherine immediately relaxed and sat at the table's edge.
Once Xavier took the first bite, the meal officially commenced.
Daniel didn't dare act too brazen, modestly placing a large bone on his bowl.
Then he began gnawing on it.
He still paid some mind to his image, taking small bites as he gnawed the bone.
Chloe, however, was a different story.
Back home, Chloe was more mischievous than at school.
She had always been a rather unruly child, and being doted upon by more people at home only made this trait more apparent.
Chloe pushed aside the greens and salad that Xavier had served her and speared a small rib.
Hmm, very fragrant.
Unfortunately, this scene was noticed by Xavier, whose fork landed beside Chloe's plate as he sternly warned:
"Don't be picky with your food."
Upon hearing this, Chloe pursed her lips and reluctantly ate a bite of salad.
After finishing the salad, she went for dessert, only to be intercepted by Xavier midway.
The man's tone was tinged with mild exasperation:
"What are you doing? You haven't even finished your meal and you're already eyeing those junk foods."
Chloe sulkily withdrew her hand:
"If I don't want to eat it, then I won't. I don't care for it anyway."
Xavier looked at her for a moment, "If you don't eat it now, I'll have some sent to your room later."
As if she hadn't heard, Chloe shoved a small rib into her mouth defiantly.
Seeing this, Xavier added, "Your favorite chocolate cake will be included."
Chloe paused momentarily.
After a while, she reluctantly turned around and ate a forkful of salad.
"Heh."
Beside her was Xavier's laughter, the emotion behind it unclear.
On the other side, Qin Huaibei and Daniel ate while furtively glancing at the situation with Chloe.
Daniel clicked his tongue and said in a low voice, "I didn't know Chloe was like this before..."
"Like what?" Qin Huaibei asked.
Daniel didn't feel comfortable saying it out loud.
Just look at her little demeanor, she had a hint of being spoiled, didn't she?
As Qin Huaibei and Daniel huddled together whispering, Katherine suddenly spoke up:
"Where's Anderson?"
Upon hearing this, they both froze.
That's right, where was Anderson?
Daniel blinked, carefully recalling.
He realized he hadn't heard Anderson make a sound since Xavier appeared outside Chloe's room.
Later... he didn't even see Anderson follow them to the dining room.
After a while, Qin Huaibei suddenly realized:
"Shh, don't mention it."
He suddenly remembered that among vampires, Anderson was merely a lesser servant attending Chloe, equivalent to a household servant.
Such status clearly did not entitle him to dine at the main table.
They were guests worthy of being treated well at Chloe's home, while Anderson was but a servant who couldn't even sit at the table.
For a moment, everyone felt a mix of emotions.
...
After the lunch was over, Chloe deftly had the servants pack up some untouched dishes and set them aside.
Seeing this, Xavier slightly frowned:
"What is this for?"
Upon hearing the question, Chloe unhesitatingly shifted the blame: "Daniel gets hungry easily, so I packed some for him to eat later."
Daniel, who had been burying his head in his plate, looked up in confusion.
He was about to explain that he wasn't some insatiable glutton when he met Chloe's smiling gaze.
He blinked, then obligingly went along: "Ah yes, I do have a big appetite."
Daniel took a bite of the meat, "To be honest, I start feeling hungry again within twenty minutes of finishing a meal."
Upon hearing this, Xavier gave him a blank look.
To prove he wasn't lying, Daniel stuffed another large bone into his mouth.
The meat, drenched in sauce, perfectly slid off the bone.
Xavier: "..."
He didn't wish to pursue the matter further: "Alright."
After saying this, Xavier stood up, exchanged a few words with Chloe, and then left the dining room.
Chloe, taking a bite of the small rib, looked at him in surprise:
"You're leaving so soon?"
"Yes," Xavier wiped his hands with a napkin, "I still have matters to attend to."
Hearing this, Chloe snorted, "Okay, then go quickly."
Upon hearing this, Xavier's hand paused momentarily as he wiped it, and he solemnly said, "I'll be back later to keep you company."
"Oh," Chloe lazily replied.
She didn't put much weight on those words.
That's what he said, but he'd probably forget later.
After Xavier's figure completely disappeared, Chloe hopped off her chair and began urging her little friends:
"Are you done eating? If so, come with me to find Anderson."
She still held the packed meal she had intentionally prepared.
The food servants ate generally tasted ordinary; Chloe had tried a couple of bites out of curiosity when she had seen Anderson holding a boxed meal before.
It lacked flavor and was terribly bland.
After that, Chloe often cooked small meals for Anderson.
After all, he was Chloe's person, and eating such poor food would be a disgrace to her.
If others saw it, they might even say Chloe was impoverished.
Upon hearing they were going to find Anderson, Daniel, who had been quite displeased earlier, immediately quieted down and grabbed a few fritters to take with him as he ate.
He mumbled while eating:
"The rules in your family seem even stricter than Qin Huaibei's."
Chloe spread her hands: "Can't be helped, my dad is just that kind of old-fashioned guy."
Indeed, he was quite old-fashioned.
Qin Huaibei commented, "Yeah, your dad reeks of feudal remnants from the old society."
Chloe pursed her lips: "But you can't say that completely, Xavier is still quite reasonable about certain things."
Ah well, let's not talk about that.
They moved on, Chloe heading toward the hallway outside the room Anderson usually stayed in.
Chloe felt she must be the most understanding and considerate mistress in the world, even bringing food for her servant.
Good heavens, no one could be kinder than her.
Chloe hummed as she walked down the hallway, but when she reached the corner, she suddenly heard voices coming from inside.
It was a woman's voice:
"Young Master, this is the wish of the head of the family. The Francis Family needs you."
As the words fell, Chloe stopped in her tracks, and Qin Huaibei and the others behind her felt surprised as well.
What happened?
Not long after, Anderson's voice sounded, calm and nonchalant:
"Tell that old man that I'm Lady Chloe's man, used to be, still am, and will be in the future."
"Next time he wants to take me away, he'd better inform Lady Chloe in advance."
