Chapter 219: Death and Conspiracy (22)

Lu Jia’er hurried over to Ian’s side and followed his line of sight, she froze on the spot just like Ian.

It turned out that there was another secret chamber past this secret chamber. The back-most secret chamber was even larger than the lab outside. This furthermost chamber was not in a square shape. Rather, it was like a movie theatre in the shape of an egg. In the middle of the secret chamber was a stasis cabin with a man lying within.

What astonished Ian and Lu Jia’er was not the design of this secret chamber, rather, the man lying in the space stasis cabin.

Lu Jia’er wondered if she was hallucinating. She rubbed her eyes at once and when she gazed at the cabin again, she could see the man in there.

This man was so familiar to Lu Jia’er, his breaths, his warmth, and his everything were familiar to Lu Jia’er. Last night, she was in bed with him. This morning, they kissed so affectionately after they woke up. She snuggled in his arms this morning and now, he was lying in the cabin.

Lu Jia’er felt her mind empty at once. She turned towards Ian who was wearing a disguise to appear the same as the man in the space stasis cabin.

Judging by Ian’s looks, she could tell that he was in so much shock that he was slow to react.

Lu Jia’er heard her voice trembling. “Ian, why is Ace here? Didn’t you say that you just knocked him out and that he was safe? Why is he lying in here? What is going on exactly?”

Ian came back to his senses as Lu Jia’er hurled out the string of questions at him. He did not give her timely answers. Instead, he turned his attention to the backside secret chamber again.

“Ian?” Lu Jia’er yanked his clothes.

Ian turned around and said to Lu Jia’er. “He is not Ace!”

This came as another shock to Lu Jia’er. “What?”

“No, no, actually, he is the real Ace!” Ian changed his answer.

Lu Jia’er was completely perplexed by Ian’s words. “Ian, what are you talking about?”

Ian’s eyes glowed with thrill as he fixed his looks on Lu Jia’er. “Finally, I know the answer to the question that has been on my mind!”

“Ian, tell me, what is going on here?” Lu Jia’er was dying to know the truth.

“He is the real Ace…” When Ian was about to reveal the answer to Lu Jia’er, the door to the secret chamber was opened abruptly.

Alerted, Ian pulled Lu Jia’er to his back. Then, they heard sounds of laser anesthetic rifles in the secret chamber.

Lu Jia’er watched as Ian got shot right in front of her. Since she was standing behind him, she hurried to reach out her arms to support him. However, the next second, two security guards had run over and dragged him away from her support.

Afterward, Jin Xianglan came over. Lu Jia’er saw the former coming closer step by step. Jin Xianglan’s lean face was covered with a stern expression and her eyes glimmered with coldness.

The first thing after Jin Xianglan came into the secret chamber was to make sure if the programs of the sealed stasis cabin were stable. Nothing was unusual. Her tensed expression loosened up a bit. She turned over to Lu Jia’er.

This side of Jin Xianglan was so strange, so very strong, like a kid who was shamed into anger because her favorite toy had been touched by someone else.

Ian did not get to finish his answer but with as smart as Lu Jia’er was, she had already arrived at some form of a conclusion.

Lu Jia’er looked into Jin Xianglan’s eyes and pointed to the space cabin. “Professor Jin, why is Ace lying here?”

Jin Xianglan glared at Lu Lia’er. In the former’s eyes no longer had the warmth that was demonstrated this morning. Before Lu Jia’er could recognize what was happening, she blacked out and lost consciousness.
