The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress-Chapter 301 - : 115 Chen Bureau major action_1
Chapter 301: 115 Chen Bureau major action_1
Director Chen’s alarm bells were ringing in his head.
He knew better than Chi Yundai that some people truly were lawless villains.
“Who said that?” He turned around, his forehead wrinkling, his back straight, serious and upright—his aura intensified in that instant.
He was always gentle and casual around Ji Heng on normal days.
But now, switching to the cold visage of King Yama seemed effortless.
Of course, being able to seamlessly blend into Jiang Fulai’s team in Xiangcheng and infiltrate the Ji Family’s inner circle—Director Chen was no ordinary man.
Even Ji Heng was startled by Director Chen’s sudden transformation.
Bai Lian did not speak. She stood by the window, where the sunlight burst through the clouds and invaded the room with golden cold rays, exploding behind her, giving her face a shrouded shadow and making her plain white clothes reflect the light like a haloed pearl.
The expression was not easy to discern, but Director Chen felt a chill shoot up from the soles of his feet in an instant.
Bai Lian’s gaze shifted towards Assistant Xu.
Director Chen got it, his eyes landing on Assistant Xu: “Speak.”
Director Chen had come with Ji Heng to see Xu En today, still unaware of the details surrounding Xu En’s poisoning and hospitalization—only having a general understanding from Ji Heng’s explanation.
Assistant Xu had never met Director Chen. All the information was circulated through Xu En’s hands, and he had no clearance to know it.
But he too was startled by Director Chen’s imposing manner and recounted the incident from start to finish.
“Abroad? CN nerve agent?” Director Chen realized the gravity of the situation.
A large-scale biochemical weapon prohibited by international conventions, the ability to bring it in meant there were connections; Director Chen sat on the sofa, his fingers tapping on his knee, knowing that the people behind it must be difficult to deal with.
He might not dare to investigate deeply on his own, but right now he was not alone.
Director Chen had an epiphany—it was as if an outstanding service award had been delivered right to his doorstep.
Assistant Xu looked at Director Chen, who after hearing the word “abroad” sat on the sofa pondering, and tried to alleviate the situation, “I know this case might be difficult to pursue.”
Director Chen immediately stood up and glanced at Assistant Xu, “Come with me.”
Assistant Xu was taken aback. Go with him?
Where to?
He didn’t fully grasp what was happening and instinctively looked to Bai Lian for confirmation. She nodded at him.
“Uncle Ji, I’ll head to work first.” Director Chen informed Ji Heng and left with Assistant Xu without further explanation. He took out his keys and his phone, dialing as he used the keys to open the elevator.
Assistant Xu followed Director Chen downstairs and then into the car.
Director Chen gestured for Assistant Xu to sit in the passenger seat while he took the driver’s seat and connected his Bluetooth headset.
“Yes, it’s me,” Director Chen drove along the ring road to Wallow Avenue, “That case concerning Xu En, yes, I’ll be there in 25 minutes, okay…”
Without Bai Lian and Ji Heng around, Director Chen was not an easily approachable person; the Assistant Xu in the passenger seat didn’t dare to speak.
He just listened as Director Chen made quite a few phone calls along the way.
25 minutes later.
Assistant Xu saw a familiar building, Xiangcheng Police Station.
A place he had just visited that morning.
The deputy director he had just seen in the morning was standing at the entrance.
And behind him were several other leaders.
Xu En, after all, came from Jiangjing, and when Assistant Xu went to report the incident that morning, the officers took him to meet the deputy director. However, only two officers were assigned for follow-up.
The sun was blinding in the midafternoon, startling Assistant Xu as he followed Director Chen out of the car.
To have the deputy director personally greeting them?
The deputy director did not look at Assistant Xu but respectfully handed a notebook to Director Chen, saying, “Director Chen.”
“Hmm,” Director Chen took it, glanced through the notebook as he walked inside, his strides swift, “Is everyone here?”
“Team One is fully on the case,” the deputy director followed closely, “The issue now concerns foreign documents, and some of our brothers don’t have the clearance.”
“I’ll approve the cross-border documents,” Director Chen entered the conference room, tossing the notebook on the table and pulling out a chair. Tilting his head at the deputy director, he said, “For those I can’t approve…”
He sat down, tone casual, “There are others who can.”
Director Chen was a fast climber.
There were indeed documents he couldn’t approve, but—
He had influence!
Outside, the officer who had spoken to Assistant Xu in the morning was still in charge of receiving him. Now the officer treated Assistant Xu with much more respect than in the morning, “Assistant Xu, please have some tea first. The bosses will probably be in a meeting for half an hour. Let’s review the route that Mr. Xu took the week before the incident occurred, as well as any suspects you might have in mind…”
Assistant Xu hadn’t received such treatment as tea in the morning.
After everything was asked all over again.
Assistant Xu watched the officer, a notion dawning on him, yet he found it hard to believe: “Are you planning to delve deeper into this case now?”
