THE GOD EATER-Chapter 133: Important Mission.
Jane’s voice was raised as she said, "Anyone who has worked for the sect for any significant amount of time should know that the Four Directions Sect is always at war with the other four sects and should know the various ways that they fight each other. How can you not know that?"
By the time she was done speaking, her voice had been raised to the extent that she was shouting. This irritated Loki, and he decided that he had had enough of her condescending attitude.
So, in response, Loki rolled his eyes and said, "Are you going to answer my question or not? If you aren’t, then fuck off."
She sneered at him and said, "The fact that you don’t know how possessing a status is related to knowing the difference between the Earthly and the Heavenly Battlefield means that you don’t possess a status."
"That makes you a fool who is in over his head and will die very quickly on the battlefield. It also makes you worthless to me. So it is you that should fuck off."
With that said, she huffed at him. Then she turned her back to him with a swish of her robes before sauntering away with quick steps.
He watched her go for a while before scoffing and saying, "Good riddance. I don’t know what she’s so cocky about. It is not as if I have never killed rank 3 cultivators with level 2 Dao Status before."
After she was gone, he became serious and said to himself, "But she might have a point. I am too ignorant about the state of the world."
"It seems knowing the difference between the Heavenly and the Earthly Battlefield is important information. I must get this information as soon as possible."
Then he looked around and said, "But where do I get it?"
There was the option to buy the information he needed from the trading platform. But again, there was no way to be sure of the authenticity of the information, so he was wary of giving his money away to buy fake information.
At the end of the day, he went up to one of the workers on the ship to ask for information. The man was a rank 2 cultivator, and his current job on the ship was to make sure that everything was tied down properly on the deck.
Loki approached him and said, "Do you know the difference between the Heavenly Battlefield and the Earthly Battlefield? Tell me, and I’ll give you 1,000 energy stones."
Before the man could speak, Loki said, "Take note that you’re not the first person I will be asking for this information. I have already asked someone else, so I just want to compare what you have to say with what they said in order to spot inconsistencies."
His eyes narrowed dangerously as he said, "If I find out that the other person lied to me, they will be in big trouble. But if I find out that you lied to me, you will be in big trouble."
The man felt the aura of a rank 3 cultivator on him and immediately became nervous. This is despite the fact that he is somewhat connected and has a powerful background.
When he heard Loki’s warning, he made up his mind not to offend this rank 3 cultivator. But that didn’t stop him from trying to get better benefits.
So he said to Loki, "Give me 2,000 energy stones, and I will tell you all that I know."
His words made Loki say to himself in frustration, "I wish I still had the Hypnotize Metac."
If he had the Hypnotize Metac, he would be easily able to get this man to tell him everything that he wanted to know. That’s usually what he used to get information from cultivators when he wandered the city.
But after considering the fact that there was a hostile, scheming, and proud Mind Hunter nearby whose vision isn’t restricted by walls, he felt that he would still be frustrated right now if he possessed the Hypnotize Metac and didn’t leave it behind.
To the man, he said, "I only need you to buttress something I already know. So 1,000 energy stones are all that you get."
The man grumbled inwardly about how Loki was a miser before smiling and saying, "Deal?"
Then he offered his hand to Loki for a shake. Unfortunately for him, Loki didn’t shake his hand.
Loki stared down his nose at the outstretched hand for a while. Then he used the Power Identification Ability on the man.
Race: Human
Status: 1
Energy Quantity: 61
Energy Density: 8.
Energy Rank: 2.
Body: 0.8.
Soul: 2
Mind: 2
Will: 2
Skill: 130%
Metac: Corpse Control.
When he saw the Core Metac that the man was using and realized that he was speaking with a cultivator of the Death Pathway, he felt the urge to step back. This is because it is common sense not to touch any cultivator of the Death Pathway.
There is the fact that cultivators of the Death Pathway work with corpses and are therefore dirty. There is also the fact that a cultivator of the Death Pathway can curse you to death from a long distance as long as they have come into contact with something related to you, so there was no way he was going to shake the man’s hand.
Just looking at this young man made him remember how the corpse of one of Slav’s lackeys had exploded in his face and killed him when he should have been victorious.
This memory and everything else that he knew about Death Cultivators made him want to keep his distance from the man. But then he remembered that he was much stronger than the man, so he stood his ground.
He overcame his instinctive fear of the pathway of death and said to the man with an even voice, "Keep your hands to yourself and tell me what I paid for."
