THE GOD EATER-Chapter 172: Lying Greg.

Sometimes, the attack of the Martial Body Sect can be as small as a harassment attack to test their defenses or frustrate them. As long as they can stand their ground and show that they won’t be easy to take down, the attack of the individual groups of the Martial Body Sect will end as harassment.

The more severe attacks by individual groups usually occur when the Martial Body Sect senses weakness. If this kind of attack occurs, there will be a lot of casualties on both sides, and a city might fall.

The harassment attacks occur once a month, while the severe attacks can occur once every six months. At least, that’s the usual frequency of attacks before Loki arrived on the battlefield.

For some reason, the city wasn’t attacked for three months. Greg claimed that this was because the death of the rank 4 captain who ambushed him had rendered the Martial Body Sect without personnel to spare for an attack for some time.

As reasonable as this explanation sounded, no one believed it because no one believed Greg’s claim that a rank 4 giant had taken to the air to ambush him.

His story was just too full of holes. Not only wasn’t it unlikely for the people of the Martial Body Sect to use airships, but it was also extra unlikely that they would use such a powerful airship.

They felt that Greg had concocted a story to cover up the fact that he killed his subordinates. Not even the sight of the corpses of giants was enough to convince some of them.

They believed that it might be true that Greg encountered some giants and killed them. But they also believe that those giants were in the ground and that Greg had put the corpses on the airship to support his story.

As for why Greg did this, they believe that it was to cover the fact that he stole the large airship. After all, now that everyone who was with him is dead, no one can say for sure where he got the airship.

Loki knew all about this because he was paying a little attention to the communication channel of the group.

The communication channel is a special means of communication that the sect opens up for soldiers through their token. It is better than using the communication talisman because it has no distance restriction and because every message that has been sent is always stored in the channel for anyone in the group to review.

He uses the communication channel to keep up to date with what’s going on in the group. Meanwhile, the group uses it keep tabs on him and check to see if he is still alive since they rarely see him.

Right now, the group is arguing about something important. And as usual, Greg is at the center of the storm.

Greg sent a message saying, "The fact that we’ve not been attacked for so long means that they don’t have the power to attack us. What we should do now is to take advantage of the situation and attack them when they are weak."

Someone immediately said, "I don’t think we should destroy another city. We just destroyed one six months ago, and the Martial Body Sect was pissed. They besieged us for three months in a row."

Greg replied with some frustration in his voice, saying, "I already told you that I’ve killed their rank 4 leader. That’s why they can’t take the opportunity to attack us."

That same person spoke up, saying, "I just don’t think it is worth it to antagonize the Martial Body Sect when we can enjoy this peace and sit back as we earn merit points."

These words pissed Greg off, so he raised his voice as he said, "Are you stupid? What do you mean it isn’t worth it? Of course it is worth it."

"If we attack them now, we can catch them off guard. If we kill them now, we will be able to earn merit points, and we will be able to extend our period of peace."

"You fool! Don’t you know that peace can only be earned through violence? I earned the peace you’re currently enjoying by risking my life and sacrificing the lives of the recruits that were accompanying me."

To this, a second person responded with a voice full of sarcasm, saying, "Right. Giants in the air. You fought them valiantly without your Mech and won."

A third person added, saying, "It is so unbelievable that despite all of the disadvantages that you faced in that air battle, only you managed to survive while everyone else died. You’re so impressive, boss."

This third person’s voice only had a hint of sarcasm. It was so faint that one might not notice it. But Loki did, and he chuckled when he heard what these people were saying.

Their words made him laugh and say to himself, "Maybe Greg wasn’t wrong when he said that I was thinking too much and worrying for nothing. The attack really happened, but no one believes that it really happened. So how could Greg have believed that it would happen before the attack happened?"

Their words amused him, but they made Greg angry. He said to them with anger in his voice, "What are you saying? Are you saying that I am lying?"

No one said anything for a minute. So the channel became dead silent.

Even though no one confirmed that he was lying. The fact that no one spoke up to say that they believed him was enough to let him know that no one was buying his story.

But he didn’t care about what they didn’t say. To him, unspoken words and opinions are more useless than their useless words.

So he sneered and said, "That’s right. You’d better keep quiet if you don’t have anything useful to say."

"As for the attack, it will happen. I am not changing my mind about that. What we are to discuss now is when the attack will happen and how many of us will join the attack."
