The Goddess Made A Mistake Again-Chapter 436 - Looking For Company [ Part 2 ]
Chapter 436: Chapter 436 - Looking For Company [ Part 2 ]
Seeing the sudden fear on the bandit, Marva too felt that there was something very wrong going on.
Marva got off her horse and came before the bandit as she pointed her needle like sword at him, "What are you hiding?"
"I- I- I..." The guy stammered in the face of pain and didn’t know how to respond.
Seeing his friend like that, the other bandits tried to help him.
"We’re just worried that the boss already knows that we betrayed him. The boss is quite sensitive about such matters and would kill us immediately." The guy said with great acting.
"Tch!" Marva couldn’t discern whether the guy was lying or not.
But Velma was.
The vines suddenly grew thorns as they slowly impale the bandits, making them scream.
"ARghhh!"
"I know you’re lying."
"Bu- But... we’re no- Argh... I’m sorry! I’m sorry, I won’t do it again." The bandit cried as he felt the many small but sharp thorns pick into him.
"Tell us why you won’t get in the base?" Velma asked.
"I... I can’t say." He felt the thorns stab him, "PLEASE! I CAN’T!"
Seeing such helplessness over the question, Velma changed it, "What is inside the base? Is it filled with bandits waiting to attack us?"
"No No!" The bandit shook his head, "It’s empty... It’s completely empty!"
Velma’s brows lift up at the answer. The problem wasn’t that he was lying, it was that he was telling the truth.
"If there’s no one there, why won’t any of you want to go inside?"
"We... We can’t say it, Please! Don’t ask us!" The bandit’s begged her.
’Hmm... such reluctance over entering their own base.’ Velma looked at the base in front of her with great suspicion, ’There’s a trap inside... something that’s not alive.’
"There are traps inside, correct?" Velma asked, her calmness making her a pioneer of resolution.
Seeing her look, the bandits struggled, "Mmph... yes, there is." But ultimately spoke it.
His friend’s looked at the guy with anger but didn’t say anything. They too knew what pain he was going through.
"But you won’t say what trap is inside, right?" Velma asked and the bandits looked down, "Well... then I only have one choice left."
The bandits felt a bit calm thinking she would knock them out and leave them be.
"I’ll have to throw you lots inside."
"What!" They looked up, not believing she uttered those words, "No, you can’t or else-"
"Or else what? You’ll die?... by what?" Velma peered but the bandits shut their mouths.
"Okay then, goodbye." Velma murmured emotionless as she was about to throw the fearful bandits inside.
"STOP!"
Suddenly, they all hear a young voice.
"Stop, don’t go inside the base!" The young voice, familiar to the Valkyries spoke.
"Hm... that voice?" Velma blurted.
"Why does it seem like..." Marva murmurs.
Both Valkyries eyes twinkle as they call out at the same time, "Keira?!"
Not a second later, Keira’s figure riding on a horse appeared before their vision.
"Don’t go inside!" Keira yelled as she quickly sped up through the army.
Recognizing the young woman, the soldiers quickly made way for her. Keira felt grateful for that and quickly came before her superiors and said, "Don’t go inside!"
The two Valkyries saw the sweat and worry on her face, "Don’t... go..."
"Inside? We got it!" Marva smiled and asked, "What are you doing here and how do you know not to go inside?"
"I... information... Oricon... Trap..."
"Oricon tra- what?" Marva didn’t understand it but Velma was the other case.
"You got information from Oricon that this was a trap?"
"Hm..." Keira nodded numerously as Marva gave her a bottle of water and looked at Velma.
"How did you get that?"
"Experience" Velma said and asked, "Where did you get that info from?"
"That would be me."
Both Valkyries look back and see Henry, Jacob and Lucian approaching them on horses. The one who spoke was Henry at the lead.
"Henry!" Marva perked up seeing him, "What are you doing here? Are you here to see me?"
"Coincidentally, yes. I’m here to warn you guys."
"Aww... at least try to act nice." Marva said.
...
I ignore Marva’s words and get off Reverence. I pat the old horse, "Take a rest, old boy."
"Mr. Tax, a word with you." Velma called me and I went to her.
"Lady Velma" I give her a nod, "What Keira blurted and you picked up was correct. We got information from Oricon that his son, Orion, laid a trap for you guys."
I look at the helpless trapped bandits, "But it seems like you already got the last part."
"That much was easy. They were lying too much and weren’t enthusiastic at all when I told them to go inside."
"That sounds right." I nod, "Nobody would be stupid enough to walk inside a base filled with ignited sigmat crystals that could blow up a city center."
"What?" Velma sharply looked at me and Marva wasn’t okay either. "What did you just say? Enough to blow up the center of a city?"
"Yes, Lady Velma. As malicious as it sounds, its completely true." I tell them, "Oricon told us that out of the three bases, two were decoys. But even those decoys were a big trap, waiting to dump on you guys."
Velma turned to the bandits, the thorns impaling further than ever, "Is it true!"
"Yes, Yes! It’s true." All of them nodded, "That’s why we wanted to leave. The explosion would reach far if we didn’t escape."
"You said two of the three bases, Henry?" Marva asked, "What about the one that’s real?"
Velma answered for her, "That’s probably the one with the whole bandits gathered together."
"Bingo!" I tap my nose.
"But that means..." Marva’s eyes widen.
"Whoever gets caught would surely be annihilated completely." Velma frowned, "Have you warned the others?"
"You’re the first we found." Lucian came, "We hope you would have ways to inform the others quickly."
"We could, but those could be ignored in the heat of battle." Velma said and looked at Marva, "Marva, use your speed and quickly go to the company that’s closest to us."
"Okie Dokie!" Marva saluted and vanished with a white flash.
"Who’s closest to us?"
"Lord Seman"
I smile, ’Good to know it’s not the prick.’
...
After talking a bit more, we quickly departed together with the Valkyrie company.
With proper direction, it didn’t take long for us to arrive to the next base.
Unfortunately...
"Thank goodness, you’re safe Lady Velma. I was worried about you." The Prick Peter and his Dragonoir Soldiers were here.
"I’m fine, thanks to Lord Henry." Velma said, ignorant to his words.
"Oh?" Peter looked at me, "So you’ve actually accomplished something? Good for you."
"Why are you here?"
"Excuse me? Do you dare ask-"
"Why are you here?" I step closer to him, intentions not looking very good, "Where’s Lord Seman?"
"He took the other route." Peter answered.
"Why?" Velma asked this time, "Wasn’t this base supposed to be Lord Seman’s mark?"
"Yes, it was... but this one was closer so I traded mine for his." Peter said as my face darkens.
"FUCK!" I scream, shaking most of the surrounding men.
"What’s wrong with him?" Peter pointed at me.
"Since you’re here and this base is empty... it means Lord Seman’s got the real one with Fifty thousand bandits in it..." Lucian murmured, his face similar to mine.
"Oh..." Peter realized his mistake, "Well, let’s go to his rescue then!"
The others nod and were about to leave when I yell, "STOP!"
They stop and curiously look at me as I smile, "I have a plan."
