The Golem Mage-Chapter 288: Outer Region Overlords Part 2.
Just as confusion began to swirl among them, a massive Root burst forth from the ground, transforming itself into what could only be described as a face.
"How dare you all destroy my part of the forest, disturb my sleep, and kill my kin," the root spoke with an enraged tone.
A sense of urgency washed over Alec as he heard the warning from the system spirit golem, who had been quiet for a while.
"Alec, no matter what happens, you have to get out of here, I swear that thing is a dire threat, It’s not even its main body, and yet it has the power to kill you countless times over."
Alec, slightly skeptical, replied,
"And what makes you think that? It’s not like you can detect any Mana waves from it!"
Attempting to check the root’s Mana waves, Alec realized to his shock that he was being blocked by an intangible mental shield. Experience new tales on novelbuddy
He was unable to gather any information about the root at all.
This was perplexing because he recalled being able to read a peak Tier 4 Mage’s Mana waves before.
Moreover, he had been able to sense Orion’s aura, despite him being a Tier 5 Mage.
This meant that whatever was in front of them was far stronger than a Tier 5 Mage, since he was not even able to sense its aura.
The revelation that this root was not even its true form added another layer of astonishment to the already bewildering situation.
"What do you mean by killing your kinsmen?, We haven’t attacked any plant lifeforms since we entered the orcish forest,"
Astrid, with blood dripping down his mouth, seethed with anger towards the root that had taken on a face.
Kethra, acting quickly, closed Astrid’s mouth before he said anything rash and tried to defuse the situation peacefully.
Being more knowledgeable about the forest than anyone else present, he understood the kind of danger they had stumbled upon.
All he wished for in that moment was for the Root that came from a Tree known as the Overlords Plant Tree of the Outer Region to simply ignore them.
After all, they were just a group of newly advanced Tier 4 mages.
Unfortunately, the Root, acting as a representative of the Overlord Plant Tree, seemed to be an unreasonable plant.
"What do you mean You haven’t attacked any plant life forms?, You have slaughtered many as you cleared your way into the forest and breached our region," the root retorted, expressing its grievances.
"Initially, I had no intention of intervening since I am just a fragment of the Overlord tree, However, your use of such a wide range lightning spell has not only harmed the environment and depleted its fertility, but it has also caused the death of a lot my kin. "
" You friend there has made it almost impossible for them to reproduce or pass on their legacy to future generations, and such an act is punishable by death," it explained sternly.
The faces of each mage in Astrid’s group twisted with anger, despair, and disbelief.
"Just who do you think you are to..."
before the sentence Could be finish , a resounding smack echoed through the air.
The Barrier Mage, who had just regained consciousness and had been following the group, hoping to witness the outcome of Alec and his golems, could no longer tolerate the situation.
After they were being scolded by a plant, he decided to act tough in order to regain some of his lost face after losing against Alec so easily.
However, instead of receiving any favor, he was met with a harsh whack from another vine controlled by the Root.
"Um, Overlord tree, since you have already captured the culprits, please allow me, this insignificant one, to go. I’m not really needed here!" Alec nervously laughed as he bowed before the root.
This unexpected action from Alec caused Kethra’s facial expression to turn grim.
He hadn’t anticipated things taking this turn.
Realization dawned upon them that they were now in the worst possible situation.
It was actually Astrid who had used the AOE skill, making matters even more dire.
Bang!
Another vine was sent towards Alec, but before it could land, Titan stepped in front of him.
And He was swiftly slapped away by the immense force behind the vine.
"Insolence!, You want to leave?, I have declared that everyone here shall die!" the huge root declared, directing countless vines to enclose and trap everyone, Alec desperately tried to recall his golems once again, but to no avail.
He then realized that he couldn’t even connect with his pouch anymore.
The only reason he had been able to connect with it before was due to the residual mana left on it.
Now that the golems refused once and the residual mana had disappeared, Alec was unable to retrieve his golems.
To make matters worse, his mana pool was sealed, leaving him unable to use his mana at all.
"Let’s break through!" Alec exclaimed as he and his golems attempted to make a run for it.
They were aware that both Astrid Group and the Root sent by the Overlord tree had the ability to kill them.
There was no way Alec would wait to be slaughtered, especially since the root seemed primarily focused on Astrid.
Deciding to take advantage of this, he made a quick escape.
"I said no one is ever getting out of here!" the Root shouted, hurling five large seeds towards Alec and his golems.
Alec dodged them swiftly, quickly reacting and evading the attack.
Alec turned back, intending to make a teasing face at the root, but one of his golems pulled him back.
"Master, this is going to be hard," the golem warned.
Alec watched in disbelief as countless plants warped around the Five seeds from all sides, growing at an astonishing speed.
Soon, five massive Treants stood in front of him.
Realizing the tremendous physical power possessed by these creatures, Alec couldn’t help but exclaim,
"Ohhh shit!"
Desperate to escape, Alec did his best to flee, accompanied by his golems.
As All five Treants slammed their massive fists to the ground, causing a tremor that shook the area.
" The physical powers of those bastards are almost comparable to the earthquake spell skill that you had your Clan mages used on the goblins at the Blood Moon War,"
the system spirit golem complained, also losing its footing and falling to the ground.
Countless Wood Woad spirits, as short as goblins but entirely made of wood, emerged from behind the summoned Treants.

Armed with clubs and shields, they swiftly dashed towards Alec and Astrid’s group.
"Not another round of fighting," Alec muttered, unsheathing his weapons once again.
With ease, he slashed the first Wood Woad that lunged at him, cutting it in half effortlessly.
His blades were coated with his sword intent, amplifying his sword Qi attack strength and making them even more lethal than before.

Magneto raised both of his hands in the air, utilizing his hoverboard to maintain his height while casting a wide-ranging defensive spell.
The spell was meant to shield Alec and the remaining golems from the onslaught of massive rocks being hurled by the Treants.
Alec, filled with frustration, realized there was no longer any way for him to escape.
The Treants had blocked the exit point, and countless Wood Woads seemed to be emerging from all corners of the forest.
And Retreating would only lead them to face the root alongside Astrid’s group, but Alec had no interest in helping them as it appeared that the root found joy in tormenting them the most.
"There is no way you’re leaving us here, Our only option is to work together, That’s the only way we can escape, Otherwise, forget about leaving," Kethra, who now bore visible bruises and looked weakened, chuckled with relief when he realized even Alec had failed to escape.
He hoped to rope Alec in, in the hopes that he might discover a way to escape.
However, the fate of the other mages was none of his concern.
After all, the root had already slain three mages from their team, showing no urgency as it seemed to relish toying with them.
