The Gourmet Innkeeper: Cooking Monsters in a Fantasy World-Chapter 337: Hiding Threats
Seeing this, he immediately sent an announcement.
[Everyone holding canteen food, please stay in place. Please hold down everyone trying to leave. Staff members, please capture anyone who resist. The innocents who cooperate will receive a 3-meal voucher in the canteen.]
For the price of a few hundred hearth points, people in the main inn and the extension would receive this message. The conveniences after the upgrade was really convenient. Should he open up ad space?
Anyway, without further ado, Finn went straight to the array.
By the time they returned to the main base, it was somewhat chaotic. Most of the people who were apprehended naturally did not agree easily, but many still cooperated after his promise. Whether they were truly innocent or not, however, only time could tell.
At this time, the most suspicious were two people who were making a scene. "How dare you!"
"Damnit! Let go of me!" Another said, this one was a bald man with a menacing expression on his face. The other one was much calmer, and even looking genuinely confused, making people think he was innocent.
The man's name was Lozer. His 'scene' was the dramatic innocently taken one, and he was just tagged as suspicious because when the announcement was made, he was darting to the door.
He simply told them he psychologically averse to being contained, so it was his instinctual reaction. Now that he knew 'he was not going to be harmed', he will cooperate with them.
The other guy, on the other hand, spewed out curse after curse.
Lozer stared at the bald man causing a scene and cursed internally.
Idiot, he thought. He should've played it calmly, like him, thankfully there was no connection between them on the surface. They arrived with different groups so even if this idiot was caught, there was still him.
But…how did they get detected so quickly? They were planning to use the very expensive potion, imported from the elven territories, to harm several people here. Even if they didn't die, they'd be injured, and the inn's reputation would be ruined!
This way, a good portion of the guests would leave, reducing their potential enemies, and isolating that damned owner before they made a move.
Sadly, their perfect plan, somehow, got thwarted.
They were also planning on using the downtime to investigate how far that little odd creature could go and how strong it truly was, but they just couldn't get a read on it.
Lozer was part of one of the mercenary teams that had been here before, but his alliance had always been elsewhere.
He gave the idiotic ally a bad look for losing his cool.
He was trained as a spy, and he was actually a spy planted in the Freiz Mercenary Team and was responsible for poisoning the old man Lenok. They had started investigating, but they hadn't caught him yet because he did some tricks.
For example, those people thought the poison was in the cup or in the water, completely unaware it was on the ink.
He knew the old man had a nasty habit of rubbing his nose when deep in thought.
The vapor from the poison, through time, was enough to cause damage, especially since he had been weakened prior by some other mild medicines.
Even this bald idiot didn't know they were part of the same team, so even if he were interrogated, he wouldn't be able to lead anything to him.
As for the traces, everyone who was apprehended had traces of it. He had poisoned the trays, and then subtly added some more to random people's food using his water ability, creating a mist of sorts.
His plan was flawless!
What he did not know was that the damned innkeeper had a lot of tricks on their sleeves.
All the suspicious individuals were taken to separate rooms. Along with Finn were Gideon and Durgan, as well as Syl, and they handled each one.
They were also warned that they had detectors in the room that would light up when a skill was used. If it lit up, the person would be killed immediately.
They borrowed the inn's bedrooms, making sure the examination was away from prying eyes to prevent any leaks and hindrances. It was also to comfort the innocents that they wouldn't be handled too roughly.
If the prisoners heard of this, they would give them looks. It was as if they weren't threatened with death if they used a skill!
One by one, they were interrogated, with the most suspicious ones purposely placed at the back of the line.
When Lozer saw the others in a daze when they went out, he immediately approached to gently pry for information.
They shook their heads when people asked, telling them that they could not mention anything that happened in there for a month or else they'd be blacklisted.
The inn was so good. No one wanted to be blacklisted!
Only that idiot was left behind, and Lozer gulped, entering when it was their turn to get called in.
He was made to sit on the small table at the side, with the interrogator kindly pouring him some water. "Drink some tea," he said. "You need hydration since you're going to talk for a while."
"Ah, yes."
"What's your name and affiliation?"
"Lozer from Freiz Mercenary team."
"Who do you report to other than the mercenary team? Where are they from?"
"Satio. The Bhissit Family."
Lozer immediately paled as soon as he spoke. His eyes widened. "What—that's not what I—"
Then he looked at the tea in front of him and gasped.
Finn's lips twitched. Goodness. As expected of an elven prince! Even as a kid, he could make such effective potions!
Anyway, Lozer's admittance caused the others' eyes to sharpen. With this, the interrogation could finally get physical!
PAK!
With a punch from Gideon and a kick from Durgan, the interrogation went on smoothly, with the usually controlled Lozer spilling out his annoyances.
"THE BHISSIT FAMILY HAD TAKEN INTEREST IN THE INN. DETERMINED TO TAKE OVER!"
"WE WILL ATTACK YOU!"
"AND WE WILL ATTACK YOU IN A WEEK WITH A FORCE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE!"
