The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 227: Henry Jennings Orders May Larson to Kidnap Summers
At the kindergarten gate.
Caden Summers, flustered and red in the face, called Michelle Lockwood. "You... don’t do that again next time."
Before leaving the house, Michelle had thrown her arms around him and taken a bite. Was she part dog? Yvette Aston had seen the marks left on his neck.
"What did I do?" Michelle teased him over the phone. "I just gave you a kiss, and you’re already upset? You talked about making it up to me, letting me do what I want, but when I mentioned the bedroom, you said no?"
"You..." Caden raised his hand to his forehead, feeling like he’d sooner or later meet his end because of this woman.
Die from anger.
How shameless.
"Tomorrow night," Michelle said leisurely.
"Tomorrow... I have something to do." Caden gave a light cough, turning his gaze to the distance, clearly uncomfortable.
"What, are you an emperor who needs to choose an auspicious day to be with your concubine?" Michelle was a bit irritated. "Are you not up to it?"
"..." Caden was genuinely worried he’d suffer a heart attack from her antics at a young age.
"I’m informing you, not negotiating," Michelle chuckled softly. "I say tomorrow, so it’s tomorrow."
"We’ll... we’ll see." Caden quickly hung up on Michelle; this woman was terrifying.
After calming himself, Caden looked down at a stone by the roadside.
"Uncle!"
School was out, and the teacher brought the children outside.
Summers saw Caden and ran over joyfully.
Caden reached out to pick up a little one and suddenly realized something was wrong, as Summers was still standing by his feet.
Then who was he holding?
Looking quickly, Caden was momentarily stunned. "This is..."
"Uncle, his name is Baron." Caden quickly set down the child and spoke with a smile. "Uncle got the wrong kid."
"Uncle, he’s going to stay with us, you know." Summers happily held Baron’s hand and said.
Baron glanced at Caden and extended his little hand voluntarily. "Uncle, are you Mom’s brother?"
Caden hesitated for a moment.
"He wants to take my mom away, insisting that she’s his mom." Summers was already accustomed to Baron’s domineering nature.
Caden scrutinized Baron for a long time, feeling a stab of pain in his heart for reasons he couldn’t explain.
Back then, Yvette did give birth to twins, but due to complications, one child was stillborn.
Fearing Yvette would be heartbroken, Caden never dared to tell her she actually gave birth to two children.
If that child had survived, they would be as old as Baron now.
"Uncle, are we going to your house?" Baron said happily.
"Yes." Caden opened the car door and let the two little guys get in.
"Uncle, your car is so cool!" Baron, having never seen such a run-down car, actually found it cool.
Summers pursed his lips and spoke quietly. "Uncle, he’s a rich kid, never seen a broken car."
Caden was helpless. "Uncle bought and fixed this car for five thousand bucks, where’s it broken?"
"..." Summers counted on his fingers. "My dad’s car costs five million."
"Can we not compare with Ethan Grant..." Caden ruffled Summers’ hair. "Uncle has a reputation to keep too."
"I still prefer Uncle’s car." Summers giggled. "Because I don’t get carsick."
Summers gets carsick; luxury cars have airtight seals, making it easy to get sick. But in Caden’s car, the windows couldn’t be rolled up, providing good airflow.
"Little genius." Caden was also amused.
...
At Ethan Grant’s house.
Yvette Aston cried until her voice was hoarse before Ethan let her go.
This time, he didn’t torment her too badly, as Ethan had learned to be more considerate.
Once she’d been coaxed into sleep, Ethan got up and left the bedroom.
"I had someone pull May Larson’s hair." On the other end of the phone, Zane Quinn spoke again. "We still need to confirm Yvette’s relationship with May Larson to avoid the possibility that Caden isn’t biologically related."
Ethan’s face darkened. "The likelihood that Caden isn’t biologically related is very low."
"Isn’t there a possibility that Yvette is the true daughter of the Aston Family, and Charlotte Summers... is actually May Larson’s child, born from an affair between May and George Aston? May, wanting her daughter to live the life of the Aston Family’s eldest daughter, intentionally put on this act?" Zane analyzed while sipping his drink.
"Was George Aston blind?" Ethan found Zane’s analysis unconvincing.
"Hey, you haven’t seen pictures of May when she was young; she wasn’t ugly," Zane said, sipping his beer. "I’m serious; someone like May couldn’t possibly be so kind to Charlotte without a reason."
"Besides, when the issue of the true and false heiress arose, only George Aston and Charlotte took a paternity test; Yvette never had one with May Larson."
Ethan leaned back on the sofa and took a sip of his drink. "You have three days to look into it."
"Three days! Ethan, are you a tyrant?" Zane protested.
"Shut up." Ethan’s face was dark.
If Yvette truly is the Aston Family’s daughter, May Larson planning her suffering over the past six years is far from sufficient punishment.
"I’ve redone the paternity test for you and Summers; it’s already in your email. Are you sure you don’t want to look at it?" Zane said mysteriously.
Ethan took a deep breath, raising his hand to his forehead. "Don’t mention this to anyone, especially Yvette."
Even without that report, Ethan had already guessed the result.
Zane had sent the report to his email for some time now.
He never dared to open it.
He couldn’t.
"Ethan, don’t be a coward. Even though you wronged Yvette six years ago, you were also a victim. Just explain it to her properly," Zane couldn’t understand what Ethan was afraid of.
"You don’t understand..." Zane didn’t understand what the hurt from six years ago meant to Yvette.
Henry Jennings posing as Summers’ father clearly hit Yvette’s nerve.
Yvette was too averse to that night six years ago...
And Ethan himself was very averse to it too.
"Ethan, paper can’t cover up fire forever; if the truth comes out someday, Yvette will surely leave you," Zane sighed.
It’s rare for a woman to capture Ethan’s heart.
If she really left, who knows what this unstable person might do.
"I won’t let her leave..." Ethan’s voice was hoarse.
"Don’t do something you’ll regret. Women are to be cherished, not hurt," Zane reminded Ethan.
"Do I need you to teach me?" Ethan was about to hang up.
"Ethan... I still think you should tell Yvette," Zane was starting to worry.
"Shut up, and step back." Ethan abruptly hung up the phone.
Tossing the phone to the side, Ethan leaned back on the sofa, his hands trembling badly.
Summers... was indeed his son.
This was madness, absolute madness.
A powerless laugh escaped him as Ethan downed a glass of liquor.
Should he call it fate? Or was it a divine punishment?
Because six years ago, he was too confident that he had been set up... Without finding Yvette sooner, it led to today, where he can’t acknowledge his wife and child, both of whom were right by his side.
Indeed, everyone must bear the consequences of their mistakes.
...
At Caden Summers’ house.
Caden was asleep, as were Summers and Baron.
The door was quietly opened, and May Larson cautiously slipped in, casting glances around.
At night, Baron had a habit of getting up to drink water. Drowsily stepping out, he was suddenly covered from behind and fell unconscious.
May, in a state of panic, looked around to ensure she hadn’t woken Caden, scooped up the child, and rushed out.
She had agreed with Henry Jennings to secretly seize Summers, creating the illusion of a kidnapping.
Once Yvette and Caden failed to protect Summers, the Jennings Family would have the right to take the child directly from Yvette.
Yvette, unable to leave her child, would undoubtedly return to his side.
