Seeing the two glaring at each other, Mo Jiaolan felt helpless and could only try to mediate, "Stop! Both of you, stop arguing!"

How could she not understand her own cousin? This girl had been pampered and spoiled since she was young, accustomed to being arrogant. Perhaps Ling Feng was somewhat at fault today, but it was surely she who had provoked it.

The driver glanced at the card and immediately straightened up in respect, because there were only a handful of such cards issued in the county—a mere ten!

"It’s nothing, I won’t take it personally," Ling Feng said with a smile.

Mo Jiaolan nodded, "Right, are you heading into the city? Want a ride with me?"

"Better not, I’ve got quite a few things to buy, and I can’t just leave my tricycle here," Ling Feng was tempted, but he couldn’t bear to abandon his precious electric tricycle.

"Oh? Have you started preparing for the animal husbandry business?" Mo Jiaolan asked.

"Yeah, it won’t take many days before I’m settled, then you can come over for a visit," Ling Feng replied.

Mo Jiaolan was somewhat surprised, not expecting him to progress so quickly, so she nodded, "Alright, we’ll get in touch by phone when the time comes. I’ll take my cousin home now; the family must be getting anxious."

"Sure, drive safely," Ling Feng nodded.

Watching as Mo Jiaolan’s car departed, he got on his tricycle and headed towards the county as well.

It was evening by the time Ling Feng was pulling a large load of goods from the county towards home. Although he had some money on hand, he was reluctant to spend it frivolously, so instead of hiring a vehicle, he pulled everything back with the tricycle.

In Shiliu Village, several women were cooling off under a big willow tree after dinner when they saw what looked like a small mountain approaching from the road, their eyes widening in astonishment.

Only when it got closer did they recognize that it was Ling Feng and his tricycle, loaded so heavily and high that it resembled a small hill from a distance.

Ling Feng was already gasping for breath and drenched in sweat. The load was so heavy that the battery died halfway through the journey, and he had to push the tricycle the remaining distance!

Seeing his state, Wang Yan was the first to laugh, "Yo, Ling Feng, what are you doing, moving the whole market back from the county?"

"Something like that, I’ve been shopping all day!" Ling Feng stopped to take a break, intending to rest his feet.

Wang Yan was lightly dressed today, wearing shorts and a tank top. As the sun had set and the sunlight was no longer strong, her fair skin stood out strikingly.

"You’re quite something, claiming that broken yard and then actually renting it. And you even had people fixing it up today—are you really going into animal husbandry?" Wang Yan asked.

Today, Li Shiyun had hired a few people to work, including her, and it was during the work that they gradually found out from the Village Chief that the job was for Ling Feng.

"Of course, otherwise why would I rent it?" Ling Feng wiped the sweat off his forehead, his gaze darting back and forth across her thighs.

There was more than just Wang Yan sitting at the head of the village, but she had the quickest tongue. Following the conversation, she asked, "Now that you’re about to become a big boss, do you need to hire someone? If you do, how about aunty comes to work for you?"

"Sure, room and board plus pay, will you come?" Ling Feng chuckled with a mischievous grin.

Everyone burst into laughter, and Niu Er’s wife, Yu, teased, "Wang Yan, you might as well go. Then you’d have something to do day and night, how refreshing!"

"Pah! You’re the one who wants to go, don’t you? Niu Er has been away from home for so long, hasn’t your field dried up by now?" Wang Yan teased back with a laugh.

The women erupted into a fit of giggles; the bold ones tossed in a few words, while those who were bashful could only listen with flushed faces, covering their mouths to snicker in secret.

Ling Feng quite enjoyed this atmosphere. The fact that the women would say those things in front of him meant they didn’t see him as an outsider. So he laughed and said, "Yu, you’re welcome to come work for me too, and I’ll take care of your field from now on!"

"Get lost, you rascal, your courage is growing by the day. How dare you tease me!" Yu chided with a laugh, flinging her slipper at him!

Ling Feng dodged swiftly and laughed, "I won’t talk with you anymore, I still have to unload goods!"

After that, he pushed his tricycle towards the village.

Wang Yan wanted to help, but knowing if she left, those women behind her would definitely gossip about her, so she could only watch Yang Ling leave.

Nonetheless, Yu still poked her secretly, "What’s the matter? Has your soul been stolen by that kid?"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Wang Yan glared at her.

Yu pouted, "You pine away in vain, I heard the new Village Chief has been frequently visiting Ling Feng’s house these days, the two might already be a thing!"

"Old classmate, we talked about getting together last time. How come you suddenly went silent?"

She had been quite cold to him before, so why all of a sudden say they should meet up? Could she be recalling the ambiguity between them from the past and wanting to rekindle old flames?
