The Growth of a Titan in the Cultivation World-Chapter 117 - 114- More Dead Bodies
Chapter 117: Chapter 114- More Dead Bodies
This man with the bloody dagger was in his mid to late twenties with an average appearance. Something Sol especially took noticed off was that he was wearing the same coarse gray rags he and Yoon-Jae were wearing.
Aside from this, there was also the fact that these two men in middle of the office as well as the one at the table weren’t wearing any footwear. Which was beyond odd.
Suddenly Sol noticed that around the two bodies, dust from the cracked walls had fallen onto the floor. There were obvious footprints within the dust. He glanced down at his own feet and then at the dragon mural, he and Yoon-Jae had left footprints on the ground.
But there were too many footprints in the dust for them to only just be theirs.
"Did the killer acted and then removed their victims’ shoes? Interesting..."
Sol rubbed his chin and slowly walked around the room, examining everything in great detail. However, he made sure to memorize the difference in the size of the footprints on the ground before adding to them.
Whether this was a trial of some sort to obtain this person’s legacy, or they were actually teleported to this place, and everything was real, one fact still remains, and it’s that they have to find the murderer who killed this person called Su Moon.
That was the only way to escape from this place.
After looking around the crime scene, Sol took notice of the over-turn chair in front of the main desk and the footprints around it.
The desk and chair were slightly out of the way of the center of the room.
Sol’s gaze then drifted to the man he assumed to be Su Moon dead on the desk, and then toward the two dead bodies on the ground.
Something wasn’t right about this entire situation.
It was about here that Sol was finding himself quite invested in solving this mystery. The Rune Legacy reward was definately something he was curious about, but this situation was beginning to stimulate a part of his brain that was usually dormant.
Sol excitedly walked over to the desk and examined the papers scattered on it from a distance.
One paper caught his eye; it was a document that detailed the description of a servant and their background. Perhaps it was a document that was filed when this servant was employed in this palace. But it was partially covered by other papers so Sol could only see the part where the servant’s features were described. He was also unable to pick it up due to the suppressive aura this man, who might be a Deity, was radiating.
But as Sol was craning his neck to see this document more clearly, his eyes were soon drawn to the man’s right hand.
Under the man’s finger was a half-finished word written in his golden blood.
’It’s written in a Language similar to the one used in Jianghu. If I’m not mistaken from the book’s Master gave me, it should be an earlier version of Jianghu’s Language used in the past.’
Without much effort, Sol immediately figured out what this unfinished word was supposed to be.
’Imposter.’
"Why that word?"
Sol muttered to himself.
Suddenly, hurried footsteps were heard outside. Someone was sprinting towards the room he was in.
Sol hurriedly turned to look at the wide-open door and tensed up as the footsteps drew closer and closer. However, when the figure appeared at the doorway, he immediately relaxed.
It was Yoon-Jae.
After running back into the room, Yoon-Jae said between his gasping.
"Hey... I... I found something."
Sol paused when he saw Yoon-Jae gasping. For cultivator’s, Aether Energy was like air, as long as their Internal Aether Energy was sufficient or there was Aether Energy in the surroundings, they shouldn’t ever exhibit Mortal signs of physical exhaustion.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, what were you doing to be so tired?"
"Nothing! I was simply walking around this ridiculously large palace. But haven’t you realized something is off about this place? Try calling out your Innate Dharma."
Sol did as Yoon-Jae asked trying to call out his seedling, but he immediately frowned. A suppressive force was trying to prevent him from calling it out of his body. But thankfully, it felt like his seedling could ignore this suppressive force somewhat.
However, Sol chose not to go against this force for the moment.
"You can’t summon it, right? Not only that, but our cultivations are practically nonexistent, it’s like we’ve returned to being Mortals!"
Sol also noticed this fact as well, but his physical state was in a somewhat peculiar state. Something was trying to turn him into a Mortal without any cultivation, but his body was rejecting its effects. He wasn’t sure why he was able to reject this mysterious power, whether it was his bloodline or his Innate Dharma. Perhaps it was both.
"Well, I suppose this is part of the Legacy Inheritance trial."
"Bah! We need to find some other way to leave this place, why do we need to follow this person’s sick game?"
Yoon-Jae seemed to be annoyed with this situation. However, Sol perked up and said reassuringly.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, don’t worry, I know who the murderer is!"
"Huh? You do?"
Yoon-Jae was taken aback.
Sol nodded and then confidently pointed at the man who was wearing the same clothes as them on the ground.
Yoon-Jae saw this and immediately rolled his eyes.
"He’s dead, Sol."
"Okay, okay, just listen to my theory, Brother Yoon-Jae."
Sol said as he walked over to Yoon-Jae and pulled him into the room.
"Are you seriously going to participate in this? We’re trapped here with no way of contacting the outside world. We should be focusing on escaping rather than playing this game."
Sol didn’t let go of Yoon-Jae and kept dragging him as he said.
"But Brother Yoon-Jae, isn’t that why we have to solve this murder? That’s the only way we can escape!"
Yoon-Jae stared at Sol and said.
"You just want to show off and solve this game to get the Legacy Inheritance of this supposed Rune Deity, don’t you?"
Sol blushed and immediately denied Yoon-Jae’s words, however, it was obvious he was lying.
If Sol wasn’t mistaken, the method of linking and overlapping runes that the Jeagal Clan has, came from the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension. However, it now seemed like the Jeagal Clan had only obtained a part of this method, making their Formation Arrays inferior to the ones Sol saw on the iron rod.
This place they entered by chance, along with the Legacy Inheritance that was spoken about in those floating words, there was a solid possibility that it was the full Legacy Inheritance the Jeagal Clan would kill for.
Sol really couldn’t miss the opportunity to gain something like this. As for who this Legacy Inheritance belongs to...
This Legacy Inheritance trial was in the home of Deities, who else did it belong to if not the owners of the home?
Sol soon dragged an unwilling Yoon-Jae over to the middle of the office before he pointed at the overturned chair in front of the desk--then at Su Moon behind the desk-- and then finally at the two dead bodies.
"Do you see any connections between these three things?"
Yoon-Jae casually glanced at everything Sol pointed at, but his gaze soon stopped on the bloody golden dagger in the hand of the servant, who was the third victim.
He squinted his eyes, and then without even meaning to, he unintentionally began pondering about this situation.
That was all Sol wanted.
Soon, Yoon-Jae sighed and said.
"Go ahead, let’s hear what you have to say. I can’t say I don’t find this interesting."
Sol beamed with a smile and then explained.
"Then let’s call these three, Victim One, Victim Two, and Victim Three."
Sol pointed at Su Moon at the desk, then at his possible son next to the servant, and finally at the servant.
"Judging by Victim Three’s clothes, he must be a servant. Victim One must be the Master and Victim Two must be the Young Master. However, the suppressive aura that Victim Three is releasing is no weaker than Victim One and Two. So, if he really is a servant, why would he have such strength?"
"An assassin?"
Yoon-Jae said with raised brows, and Sol nodded.
"Victim Three came inside to have a talk with Victim One, but in the midst of their chat, he sprang up from his chair while knocking it over before sneak attacking Victim One. While Victim One was being killed, Victim Two heard the commotion and came running in. After an intense ’tussle,’ the two destroyed the room and the fight ended with the two killing each other. Right after that, we entered through the door to see this aftermath only a few minutes after it happened."
Yoon-Jae frowned but didn’t say anything.
Sol walked over to where Victim Three was and carefully approached the stream of blood that was flowing out of him.
It was normal, unlike Victim One and Victim Two who had golden blood.
After dipping his finger into the stream of blood, Sol walked back and was about to let a droplet of blood fall onto the blue rune array on the floor in the middle of the office.
However, Yoon-Jae suddenly grabbed his hand and stopped him.
"Wait, something isn’t right. Why would a servant sit down with their Master to have a chat? And despite being face down, look at the amount of blood pooling beneath him. There was a weapon involved in his death, but there’s no indication that Victim Two had a weapon during the fight."
Sol nodded.
"I know this theory is strange and a few things don’t add up but given the evidence everything points to Victim Three being the murderer. He even has the murder weapon in his hands, which matches the slashes on Victim One’s neck. We can’t approach Victim Two to turn him over to see the wounds on his abdomen, but I’m sure they’re from the same dagger. Plus, we have two tries so I wanted to test this theory out first."
Yoon-Jae thought for a moment then let go of Sol’s hand.
Sol dropped the blood onto the rune array and after a moment, two lines of words were added to the ones already floating in the center of the room.
But they were in bloodred.
"Chances remaining: 1"
"Time remaining: 24:34"
Yoon-Jae’s expression changed when he saw this.
"There was a time limit?! What happens if we don’t complete this game in time?"
"It doesn’t say, but we have to assume it’s something bad."
"Damn it! We were too greedy to come here by ourselves."
"It’s okay Brother Yoon-Jae, we still have a day left and one chance remaining."
Sol then began looking around the room some more.
If the murderer wasn’t Victim Three that clearly had the murder weapon, then it was either Victim Two or... someone else.
Were they in danger?
Sol didn’t know if this place was real or not. If the killer was still on the loose, then it was a problem since they didn’t have their cultivations. But even if they did, would these existences need more than a finger to kill them?
Suddenly, Sol shivered as he recalled that figure he had bumped into before he came into this room with Yoon-Jae.
However, the words floating in the middle of the room said that no one was able to leave this palace after Su Moon, Victim One, was killed, so where did that person come from?
After thinking for a moment without coming to a conclusion, Sol finally remembered that Yoon-Jae had run here to tell him something.
"Oh, right. Did you find anything when you were looking outside, Brother Yoon-Jae?"
Yoon-Jae sighed and said.
"Yeah, I found more dead bodies in other rooms."
"Ah! Why didn’t you say something sooner?!"
Yoon-Jae frowned.
"Because you were too busy trying to get this Legacy Inheritance."
Sol became awkward, but he quickly coughed in his fist and said.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, show me!"
