The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 429- Strange Reaction From the Crescent Moon Enigma
Chapter 429: Chapter 429- Strange Reaction From the Crescent Moon Enigma
Sol, Mar-Yue, and Woo-seong waited around in a third pavilion for a few minutes.
Finally, another old man came to them. This time he didn’t appear out of nowhere but instead came through the large double doors.
He approached the pavilion and greeted the three of them with a respectful bow.
"Greetings, esteemed guests. I’ve come to escort you to our Jeagal Clan’s Ancestral Hall."
Woo-seong immediately snorted.
"Now you treat us as esteemed guests after falling to attacks us?"
The old man looked at Woo-seong with a stunned expression.
Sol’s eyes narrowed at that. After a split second, he deduced this old man wasn’t faking his reaction, he was really surprised.
Just as the old man was about to speak, Sol said.
"It’s our pleasure to visit the Jeagal Clan, we can head out now."
The old man paused, but only for a moment.
"Distinguished guests, follow me."
After saying that, the old man turned and walked back to the double doors.
Woo-seong also realized that the old man had no clue about them being attacked, so he let it go.
After leaving with Sol and the others following behind him, the old man rose into the air.
Sol wore a casual expression as he rose into the air following the old man, but Woo-seong’s expression was cold with a mixture of anger.
Mar-Yue meanwhile seemed to have forgotten what just happened. When she saw that the old man was continuously flying up, almost reaching the low-level clouds two thousand meters up, she was confused.
"Where are we going?"
She thought this Ancestral Hall was further into the Jeagal Clan’s Ancestral Grounds, not up in the air.
Sol was also confused, but Woo-seong seemed to have realized something and he looked at the old man shocked.
"Don’t tell me the Ancestral Hall you’re talking about is in the restricted area of the Jeagal Clan?"
The old man suddenly stopped and turned his head slightly behind him to say with a smile.
"It’s exactly that Ancestral Hall we are going to. In fact, we are already here."
Upon hearing that, Sol looked around but sensed nothing. However, when he projected his concealed senses into the surroundings, he felt the faint fluctuations of Formation Arrays.
’Terrifying, even my Heavenly Eyes wasn’t able to detect that there were Formations here. Forget about seeing through it, if it not for my ability to project my heightened senses, I would have never discovered them.’
As a testament to Sol’s thoughts, even Mar-Yue who was proficient in Runes and Formations wasn’t able to detect them.
The old man didn’t delay things anymore and he performed a doublehanded incantation. The void in front of the group distorted and ripples appeared.
The old man turned to them and said with a bit of envy in his voice.
"There has never been an outsider that was invited into our Ancestral Hall in the past thousand years, you three are the first. Even Outer Elders like myself aren’t qualified to enter despite being the designated guard."
After saying that, the old man motioned for them to enter the ripples.
Sol cupped his fists and thanked the old man for escorting them here before he led Mar-Yue and Woo-seong to enter the rippling void.
However, internally, Sol’s mind was racing.
Why would the Jeagal Clan invite them into such a place?
’Don’t tell me this Eight Trigrams Decryption Array is so important to them?’
Sol’s eyes flashed and excitement appeared in his heart.
After they entered, the old man waved his hand at the void, causing the space to solidify stopping ripples.
Then as if he were on solid ground, the old man sat with folded legs in mid-air. His body then grew distinct and soon he melded into the Formation Arrays here.
Ever since he took up this post several hundred years ago, this was his first time coming out to escort guests. He was a bit disappointed that it was so short but that was just how it was.
Inside the Formation Arrays, Sol and the others appeared inside a large hall that resembled a throne room.
Wide columns made of green jade propped up the high ceiling, while tiles of similar material lined the floor, vaguely reflecting one’s appearance.
The columns were decorated with eye-catching auspicious beasts, however, none of the three’s attention was on any of them or anywhere else in the hall except in front of them.
There was a golden throne directly in front of them, and sitting on it causally was a middle-aged man. The missing Dae-hyun was standing next to him while Wei-sun was behind Dae-hyun like an attendant.
They weren’t the only ones up there, twelve people were standing on either side of the throne seat, six on each side.
Eight of these twelve people varied in age with most looking to be middle-aged. But four of them were extremely old, their hair completely gray and their faces full of deep wrinkles old.
The moment Sol and the others appeared inside the hall everyone’s gazes landed on them.
All of a sudden, Sol’s breath hitched in his throat.
The gazes of these people were absolutely horrifying.
From the moment they entered the Jeagal Clan, they had hardly seen a cultivator above the Mortal Realm. The old man who attacked them and the one who led them here were the only ones they saw in the Spiritual Realm, the first being in the Heaven Expanse Realm while the latter was in the Sky Expanse Realm.
However, some of these people felt more terrifying than that elder in the Heaven Expanse Realm.
It seemed like they went from hardly seeing cultivators in the Jeagal Clan, to coming face-to-face with their entire upper echelon.
This momentarily stunned Sol and the others, but more so Sol.
He had not retracted his projected senses fearing this was some ploy by the Jeagal Clan. So even though these people had their auras retracted he could still feel their vast cultivation bases when his sense swept over them.
Due to the nature of this ability, he was confident that no one could detect it, at most one would think his gaze was too intense and scrutinizing.
The only one Sol met so far that slightly detected this ability was Quilt, which made Sol suspect it had something to do with the strange black armor he wore.
As Sol’s senses swept across these people, he matched his actions with his gaze. Afterward, he immediately retracted it.
Even though no one could detect it, if it lingered on these people for too long then they would eventually discover something was wrong.
Sol was especially fearful of that middle-aged man on the throne and those four old men; their auras far surpassed the hand he felt in Martial Alliance City and the aura released by the old man who attacked him.
Even the Academy leader was inferior.
However, one of the four old men was even more terrifying in this group. He was one of the two old men standing to the right of the throne. The moment Sol’s senses swept over him he was so deeply shaken that his expression almost gave him away.
Even though this old man was suppressing his aura to perhaps seem nonthreatening, it had the opposite effect. To Sol, it felt as if a vast ocean or a volcano on the verge of erupting was being suppressed.
If that kind of power were to ever be released, then heaven and earth itself would lose all color and the Worldly Laws would be extinguished.
That type of sensation made Sol feel unedge as if the old man merely needed to release a bit of his cultivation to kill him.
No, that was wrong.
Sol knew for certain that this old man only needed a single look to kill him, and his mind and soul would be wiped out.
This feeling of not being in control of his life and death was the first for Sol. Even when facing the Academy Leader back then he never felt this before.
In front of this power, he could only wait to die.
However, just when Sol couldn’t keep his cool anymore, the memories of his father surfaced in his mind. His rapidly beating heart and the hopelessness rising within him quickly subsided.
’He’s not that strong.’
Sol suddenly thought to himself.
This wasn’t him looking down on this frightening old man when he wasn’t anything worth mentioning. Rather, it was the fact that his father was just too outstanding.
Compared to his father in those scattered memories, this old man was only so-so.
As Sol calmed down, he began pondering on the feeling that had just overcome him.
’Is this the power of someone in the Heavenly Realm? I thought my Will was strong, but just sensing his suppressed aura had almost made me fall into despair. How terrifying.’
Sol’s heart could not help but shudder. Thankfully, he was able to ward off those negative feelings.
Unbeknownst to Sol, the moment those negative thoughts surfaced in his mind, the crescent moon Enigma in his Mortal Palace had begun to pulsate with a dark glow.
This caused the scattered memories of his father to become clearer in his mind and allowed him to recover. This wasn’t the first time it had done something like this, and it wouldn’t be the last.
While Sol was dealing with this matter internally, he had managed to keep his composure. However, the same could not be said for Woo-seong.
When the gazes of those people landed on him, he felt a formless pressure weighing on his mind that caused his expression to pale slightly.
However, Woo-seong was no ordinary person, his Will was strong, so he managed to recover quickly and after snorting he began circulating his cultivation base.
It wasn’t done on purpose, but Woo-seong’s already displeased mood became even worse.
As for Mar-Yue, she only glanced at the people up on the throne once before turning to admire the design of the hall. It was as if the current situation had nothing to do with her.
However, if one had been watching her closely, one would have spotted her eyes narrowing when her gaze met one of the six people to the left of the throne.
It was the old man who had attacked them just moments ago.
He boldly stood there staring at Sol and the others with an expressionless face.
Suddenly, Dae-hyun smiled and said.
"Brother Sol, welcome, I apologize for not visiting you sooner. This is my Father and the Twelve Grand Elders of my Clan."
