The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 450- A Slip In Façade
Chapter 450: Chapter 450- A Slip In Façade
Cian didn’t dodge Sol’s sudden actions; he allowed Sol’s finger to touch his forehead while he closed his eyes. At the same time, he responded with a bitter smile.
"It’s resisting the sealing force causing it to slowly weaken."
Sol frowned deeply when he heard that, his face still slightly flushed. With the tip of his finger on Cian’s forehead he sent his Soul Energy inside Cian’s mindscape where his soul was located. It was much easier to restore the damage to the sealing rune and strengthen it than create a new one from scratch.
However, this was extremely dangerous for Cian. Giving someone access to his mindscape was a suicide decision since his soul could be wiped out with only a thought from that person.
Nonetheless, he didn’t show an ounce of resistance against Sol. It was strange how trusting of Sol he had become. Even Sol himself wasn’t aware of his actions. If anyone was observing this scene from a third-party view, they would think the situation was quite strange.
After some time, Sol removed his finger from Cian’s forehead.
"I’ve strengthened the seal, and I’ve also made it harder for that entity to resist it."
Cian sighed in relief. Using Jianghu’s customs, he bowed with a cupped fist towards Sol and said with a grateful expression.
"Thank you, Brother Sol, for-"
However, he didn’t get to finish his sentence as he stopped before simultaneously turning with Sol to look down the hallway to see a figure approaching.
Cian’s face immediately turned ugly when he saw the figure while Sol’s expression, however, was hard to read.
"Brother Sol, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you after our first interaction!"
The crisp and slightly immature voice of a young boy echoed in the hallway. This boy, who looked no older than eleven or twelve, almost skipped over to Sol and Cian’s side.
Cian’s face had already morphed into an extremely unwelcoming expression as he icily said.
"What are you doing here Althorne? I’ve already told you I am not willing to join your Faction in this tournament."
The person turned out to be the child-like Althorne. He was still wearing his Church’s golden robes. Along with his short brown hair and gray pupils, it made it obvious he was different from the people of the Eastern Continent. His actions of still wearing these robes, it almost seemed to indicate he was unwilling to integrate into the Eastern Continent’s culture and customs, remaining an anomaly.
However, that did not diminish his unique appearance. With those golden robes and slowly maturing handsome features, he looked like a little Emperor out on a stroll. The manner in which he carried himself was also noteworthy, he was extremely nonchalant and at ease. But it was a sort of nonchalance that made one feel comfortable around him.
With such a dichotomy between his authoritative appearance and nonchalant behavior, it would unconsciously make one lower their guard around him while also taking his words quite seriously. In other words, he was very charismatic.
Althorne’s face broke into a natural smile as he said.
"Cian don’t be so upset, I just wanted to know why you were so eager to get away from our meeting. Turns out you came to visit Brother Sol for an important matter."
Still smiling, Althorne looked between Sol and Cian before asking out of what seemed like genuine curiosity.
"Why did you visit Brother Sol, Cian? I happened to overhear the mention of a seal?"
Althorne tilted his head.
In response to his sudden question, Cian’s expression turned cold, while he said absolutely nothing. Sol also didn’t say anything, his expression was still hard to read. However, a flash appeared in the depths of his eyes for a brief second before disappearing.
From that one sentence, Althorne revealed he was spying on them. However, neither Sol nor Cian had sensed him.
Sol might be slightly drunk, but he wasn’t being careless when he decided to do this out in the open, he had his senses extended out to detect anyone nearby. But even then, he failed to detect Althorne’s presence.
Seeing that he only got silence in response to his question, Althorne didn’t feel uncomfortable. He instead smiled wider and fully took control of the conversation by furthering his questioning.
"Cian, that power inside-"
However, before Althorne could finish his sentence, Sol’s hand suddenly shot out towards the top of his head.
Althorne didn’t skip a beat, he instantly shifted his body and vanished to appear a few meters away.
However, Sol unexpectedly erupted with a terrifying fleshly body power and took a strong step forward. He easily surpassed Althorne’s speed of retreat and appeared in front of him to grab his head.
Althorne had not expected Sol to erupt with such speed or continue his pursuit. Because of this, he was caught off-guard, which allowed Sol’s hand to successfully land on his head.
Sol’s eruption of fleshly power was brief and was extremely contained so it didn’t cause a commotion on the ship. With his hand on Althorne’s head, Sol gently tussled his short brown hair while a smile slowly made its way onto his lips.
Meanwhile, Althorne just stiffly stood there, his smile frozen on his lips. He was getting intense flashbacks to when Sol had first done this in the Martial Hall Pagoda. At that time Althorne had felt death approaching him and this time was no different.
No, it was different somewhat.
The feeling of death was stronger.
Sol had gotten stronger.
As Sol smiled and rubbed Althorne’s head, he said.
"It’s good to see you too little Althorne. But I feel so distant when you only call me Brother, why don’t you go back to calling me Elder Brother? You can even start referring to me as Big Brother, I don’t mind at all."
Althorne soon regained his composure and went to step back, but Sol suddenly held his shoulder to stop him before using both hands to rub and pinch his cheeks.
"Come on, won’t you say it? Call me Big Brother and I’ll stop teasing you, ha-ha."
Sol laughed and continued to pinch Althorne’s cheeks. Meanwhile, Cian stood to the back watching this scene with a somewhat dumbfounded look on his face.
This was his first time seeing Althorne in such a position and he found it extremely hard to believe.
One had to know that Althorne shared a title with him, a Divine Son. It was given to the most outstanding genius from each of the Seven Great Churches, and it signified that one has a chance to become the Cardinal that oversees the Seven Great Churches.
Such a position was highly respected by all the Church members, and each Divine Son was treated as God’s children. They were sacred and holy existence to each member of the Churches, and they were extremely protective of them. It was to the point that one was not allowed to touch even the edges of their clothes on normal occasions.
However, what Sol was doing at this moment far surpassed that. If anyone from the Ga-Mon Church was here to witness this scene they would have immediately flip out.
Over where the blasphemous scene was playing out, Althorne kept his smile and calmly said.
"Brother Sol, I can’t help but notice the faint smell of wine coming from your room."
Althorne tried changing to topic while pulling out of Sol’s grasp. However, Sol stopped him once more.
"No, it’s Big Brother Sol. I really won’t stop until you say it."
Althorne paused before looking up at Sol.
Even though Sol was smiling to the point it reached his eyes.
Even though his actions towards him were gentle thus far.
Althorne could faintly sense a feeling of danger from him. That’s why he hadn’t forcefully pushed Sol away because he felt that if he did, that smiling expression would turn cold, and those gentle touches would become deadly.
It was a feeling Althorne knew quite well, but the problem was that he was the one who would inspire such emotions in others, not the other way around.
Having the situation reversed on him, Althorne felt anger surface in his heart, but he didn’t let it show on his face. Instead, he sighed and said.
"Big Brother Sol, what if someone passes by and saw this scene, I would be too embarrassed to face the members of my Church. Since I did what you requested, can you let me off?"
"Oh, did I say I would stop if you called me Big Brother? I can’t recall saying that. Maybe if you do it a few more times I’ll really stop."
Sol chuckled and then continued to pinch Althorne’s cheeks in a relaxed manner.
"You-"
Althorne’s façade suddenly slipped off due to Sol’s words and anger appeared on his face. However, it was only for a split second, and he instantly recovered.
Cian, who was looking on with a strange expression, had his pupils constricted when he saw Althorne’s reaction, and shock flooded his heart. It was almost to the point that he didn’t believe what he had just seen.
