Chapter 164: I’m Back!

The rest of the mission went smoothly, as it should. Lane left the dungeon, returned the clothes to poor Jose hiding in the stall, and drove first to the hotel he had booked as Lane. While it would have been more convenient to bring his real body to the Perellel Hotel right away... Oscar shared a room with another member of the Allen Guild, and Lane didn’t want to leave his body zipped in a suitcase for a few days! While his real body could go without food and water for weeks when he was possessing someone else... Lane wasn’t quite sure how it was with air, and he wasn’t at all curious to find out!

So, he had no choice but to drop it off somewhere else for now, and pick it up as they were getting ready to leave country K.

The Perellel Hotel was chaotic when he arrived, reporters all crowding up in front of the front entrance. As Lane tried to squeeze his way through, they were trying to all pull him back... And when he flashed them his summit pass, it got even worse! They were clawing at him, asking countless questions...

Oscar wasn’t even anyone important! Just part of one of countless delegations! And from a foreign country! He had nothing to do with the Awakened Agency! So what did all those reporters even want from him?!

And didn’t they see how tall and muscular he was? And an Esper? Did they have no fear?

Annoyed, he shrugged them off, and pushed his way through. "I have nothing to say. Find someone else!"

Finally, after the struggle, he managed to get in, and he instantly breathed out with relief. Now... to find Damien.

...It was easier said than done. While he knew where the man was, thanks to the updates from his - that is, Lane’s - team, Damien was... busy. Surrounded by people. Discussing the dungeon disaster with the Awakened Agency and other government agencies. In no way approachable, especially not for Lane’s purposes.

He looked tired though. While it wasn’t as bad as after Lane’s previous ’deaths’, he still... seemed affected by it. Worried. His usually perfectly combed hair slightly tousled, even though he wasn’t in the middle of a fight, but rather in official meetings.

A pang of guilt stabbed through Lane’s heart, his chest tightening. He really... caused the man a lot of anguish, huh? Even though it had never been his intention.

Brushing back his hair, Lane let out a sigh, and made his way to the hotel’s bar, ordering the sweetest, most sugary cocktail they had, as he waited for Damien to finish his meetings and return to their... well, now only Damien’s, room. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

It was only six hours later that Lane finally got the update that Damien Lennox retired for the night... Or perhaps, ’for the morning’ would be a better term, as he spent the whole night in the meetings, and the sun already had risen outside!

Lane stared at the time on his phone for a moment, tapping his fingers on the counter. Should he go bother Damien now? The man was undoubtedly tired... But then again, perhaps he would sleep better if he knew Lane was, ahem, safe and sound? He looked uneasy earlier...

Besides, who knew when the Allen Guild would return from the dungeon? And once they were back, it’d be much harder for Lane to approach Damien. And while Lane could always just send his boyfriend a message...

It was better to break the good news in person, no?

He finished his drink - at least the tenth since he arrived at the bar - and got up. It seemed he must have downplayed his drinking a bit, because his head spun as he stood up...

It was weird. He usually managed his drinking well, even in a freshly possessed body with which limits he wasn’t all too familiar yet. So what happened now? Was he... nervous or something?

Amused by his own thoughts, Lane let out a chuckle, shaking his head.

What was there to be nervous about? He was just going to see his boyfriend! And Damien was into him no matter what body he possessed in the past, so surely, he’d be okay with Oscar as well.

Even though Lane himself wasn’t too fond of it... It was too bulky. He might have found muscular men attractive, but that was to have sex with. As for the body he liked to live in, then the best was tall and toned, with nicely sculpted muscle, but on the slender side, without too much bulk.

Like his real body.

Unfortunately, living as ’Lane Allen’ came with too many restrictions. Because of his official rank, but even more so, because of his so-called family...

Lane sighed again, getting into the elevator. He stretched his waist, and leaned against the cold wall, as he waited to be taken to the 22nd floor. A smile blossomed on his face, as his gaze fell on the broken railing on his right... It seemed that without realizing, he ended up in the same elevator he took with Damien, the morning after he, ahem, ’deflowered’ the man...

The memory gave him the boost of confidence he needed, and as the elevator had finally stopped on his floor, he walked toward room number 2207 with no hesitation, lifted his hand, and gently knocked on the door.

A minute later, the door opened.

And Lane’s heart momentarily skipped a beat at the sight. Damien was in his grey pajamas, his hair down, clearly ready for bed. His face was a bit pale and his emerald eyes tired...

But he was still absolutely stunning.

"Yes?" Damien furrowed his brows, staring at Lane with surprise. "Mr. Morales? How can I-"

All of a sudden, he paused, as their eyes met. He stood there, staring at Lane in silence for a good moment, before hesitantly asking, "Xavier?"

"Well, it’s ’Oscar’ now... But yes." Lane’s lips curved up in a wide smile. "I’m back."

And then, not waiting for Damien’s answer, he slid into the room, shutting the door behind his back, as he smashed his lips into Damien’s.
