The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 467: If Only She Knew How Happy She’d Be
The next day, the weather was cool, perfect for shopping. Paige Sterling made a round at Islet Labs, then took Wayne Wright shopping with her.
In the mall, she bought whatever caught her eye, regardless of whether it was useful or not, and handed them to Wayne to carry.
Paige rarely went out shopping, but with all that had been happening recently, she found herself with more free time, allowing her to indulge a little.
Wayne acted as the perfect bodyguard, silent and obedient to her every whim.
Sometimes Paige would deliberately tease him, yet his expression remained stoic.
Paige always pushed him to his limits until his facial expression broke, deriving some strange pleasure from it.
Paige finally entered a men’s clothing store, browsing through the selections.
She picked things out and compared them on Wayne, then asked him to try them on, saying, "I’m buying these for my husband, just using your body as a mannequin, don’t get the wrong idea."
Wayne lowered his gaze and wordlessly entered the fitting room, trying on piece after piece for Paige.
No matter the style, color, or size, Paige found them all suitable. Even with Wayne’s average face, she didn’t think he looked bad and kept complimenting, "Looks quite nice."
Paige decided to buy everything.
Wayne thought she was complimenting him and as Paige turned around, a strange smile appeared on his face.
When Paige looked back at him, his face was expressionless again.
Switching to another men’s store, Paige continued to shop.
In the past, Julian Hawthorne always bought her things; she seldom bought anything for him.
Todays, she was in the mood to get everything Julian might need.
From clothes down to a pair of insoles and socks, she didn’t let anything slip by.
Finally, Paige entered a trendy luxury fashion store, picking out a bunch of casual clothes for Wayne to try.
When Wayne came out after trying on the last T-shirt, he saw Paige sitting on the lounge sofa with a blond-haired young man chatting her up.
"Hey beautiful, are you a celebrity?"
Paige, wearing sunglasses, radiated a star-like aura indeed.
But she denied it, "I’m not."
The blond continued, "Wow, you’re so beautiful, if you entered the entertainment industry, you’d definitely become a big star."
Usually not one to engage in pointless conversations, Paige seemed pleased with the young man’s flattery, sporting a smile, "Is that so? I think so too."
The young man went on, "Your voice is also lovely, if you sang, you’d definitely win a lot of hearts."
Paige chuckled.
The young man continued his flattery, and after he felt he had said enough, he asked, "Hey, since we get along so well, can we exchange WeChat contacts?"
Wayne observed Paige, who seemed about to agree, and silently walked over, looking at Paige.
"I’m done trying things on."
Paige stood up, looked him over, and said, "Looks good."
The young man heard Paige say this and his eye twitched hard.
Miss, your taste is a bit off, this guy is so ugly, and he’s dressed so brightly, it’s only highlighting his ugliness in the most exquisite way.
Is she saying this with her eyes open just to spare this guy’s feelings?
As the young man thought this, he felt a chilly gaze fall on him, sending a shiver down his spine.
He tore his gaze from Paige and met Wayne’s eyes,
those eyes were cold, carrying a hint of a warning, making the blond shudder and walk away awkwardly. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
So, this ugly guy was actually her boyfriend?
She’s so beautiful, why would she do this to herself? Wouldn’t she rather find someone like me, attractive and talented?
For a brief moment, the young man thought she must be forced into this, and as he walked further away, he looked at Paige with eyes full of sympathy.
Paige, "... ?", these young people are so strange.
After that, Wayne kept staring at Paige, and as if Paige didn’t notice, he said, "You shouldn’t talk to strangers."
Paige glanced at him, "I’m not a child, why shouldn’t I talk to strangers."
Wayne replied coldly, "It’s dangerous."
Paige scoffed, "If I did nothing because it’s dangerous, why would I even need you?"
Wayne instantly fell silent, expressing his displeasure with a stoic face.
With how ugly he looked now, anyone appearing around Paige could easily become the catalyst for her to move on.
It’s really tough for him.
Leaving the fashion store, Paige bumped into someone she knew, "Paige!"
Paige looked over and found it was Mona Wright—Skylar Hughes’ steadfast best friend, still by her side through everything.
Such a best friend would be a national treasure in Veridia if she had common sense.
But if not, no matter how loyal she was to you, she’d unknowingly cause the same amount of harm, leaving you silent even after taking a hit.
Mona, holding two bags, wore a fake smile, "Miss Sterling, why are you shopping alone?"
Paige linked arms with Wayne, "Can’t you see there’s someone here?"
Mona’s glance swept over Wayne and fell on their linked arms.
Then she looked at Wayne’s face, momentarily questioning if Paige had a problem with her sight.
Even if struck down by Julian, she wouldn’t settle for such an ugly man, would she?
But Mona was delighted, so she continued her fake smile, "Miss Sterling’s bodyguard is really unique, and you’re so close, you’re quite a match. For a moment, I thought he was Miss Sterling’s husband, hehe..."
Paige seemed to not hear the barbed comment, "Thanks for the compliment."
Clearly intending to insult, Paige accepted it wholeheartedly, leaving Mona feeling like she had eaten a mouthful of dog shit, stuck neither in nor out.
And Wayne just looked at Paige linking his arm, without moving or speaking.
Mona’s mouth ran on, "I was curious, why didn’t Mr. Hawthorne come to accompany you, Miss Sterling? Gee, Mr. Hawthorne is so inconsiderate, leaving you all alone, making you find just anyone to replace him..."
She was there to see Paige’s misfortune.
Nowadays, everyone knew there were problems between Julian Hawthorne and Paige Sterling, and it seemed Julian had found another woman.
That woman was Alisa from The Tell Group, the two openly appearing together had long ceased to be a secret.
And Alisa was so beautiful that countless men fell for her charms, making it tough for Paige to win Julian back from Alisa.
Moreover, Alisa wasn’t a kind woman like Skylar, if Paige went head to head with Alisa, who knows how badly she’d lose.
When Paige schemed to break apart a couple before, she must not have anticipated this day of being abandoned herself, right?
Karma really comes around, if Skylar knew, she’d be thrilled, hehe.
