The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 239 New Year’s Revelations
When Jason Lewis came home that night, Tristan Reid was already parked on the couch in the living room, his long legs casually crossed.
"Still up?"
Tristan let out a soft grunt. "Waiting for you."
"You wanna talk?" Jason gave a faint laugh. "Give me a sec," he said, heading into the kitchen.
When he came back, he dropped a six-pack of beer onto the coffee table. "Have a drink."
Tristan popped open a can and took a swig without waiting.
Jason did the same. The beer hissed open, foam bubbling up like melted snow. He took a sip—ice-cold.
He glanced at Tristan. "Don’t tell me you stayed up just to see me? What’s on your mind?"
"You into that actress girl?"
Jason’s hand froze mid-air, still holding the can. Then he chuckled. "Yeah, kinda."
He knew Tristan wasn’t the type to waste words, and definitely didn’t poke around in other people’s love lives for no reason.
The smile slipped from his face. "Why? Something wrong with her?"
Tristan shook his head. "Nothing obvious for now. But gotta be cautious. This time’s tricky. Even though Nathaniel Cooper got caught, he’s still got plenty of pieces left in play. Every single one’s like a ticking time bomb—mess up, and boom, it’s over."
Jason wasn’t the type to be reckless in relationships. He couldn’t deny, though, this was just the time when hidden threats liked to crawl out.
His brows drew together. "Thirty and just started catching feels, and I gotta tiptoe the whole way? Bit depressing, honestly."
He tilted his head and took a long gulp.
Just then, a parrot zipped over his head. "So sad, so saaaad!"
Jason almost spit out his drink. "Stupid bird, one more word and you’re dinner!"
"Oh oh! So sad, so saaaad!" the bird kept chirping.
Tristan chuckled low. "Hey, the bird ain’t wrong. So, what were you up to tonight?"
Jason filled him in on his evening. "You think anything’s off?"
Tristan took a moment, then shook his head. "No slip-ups. But Jason, if you’re serious about her, don’t rush into moving in. I don’t want any surprises showing up at your front door."
"Got it. I’ll be careful."
Before they knew it, New Year’s rolled around.
It was Megan Shaw’s first one at the Lewis house since reuniting with her family.
She was standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows with Stella Banks, pasting festive window cutouts. The air felt cheerful.
"Mom, look who’s here," Megan said, smiling.
Stella looked out—the Bentley had just pulled up outside.
Jason got out, walked to the passenger side, held the door, and helped a girl step out.
Megan’s lips curled into a playful grin. "Look, Mom—either the boys didn’t bloom, or they all bloomed at once. Brandon’s already gonna be a dad, and now Jason’s bringing home his girlfriend. Who knows, maybe big bro’s next."
Stella laughed. "And your fourth brother?"
Megan shrugged. "Samuel’s like a total dreamboat ‘til he starts talking—personality falls right off a cliff. I’ll go get the door."
"Careful, sweetheart," Stella called after her with a smile.
Megan opened the door. "Happy New Year, Jason, Michelle."
Michelle Irwin’s cheeks flushed instantly. "Oh—thank you."
Megan grabbed her hand warmly. "Girl, your hands are toasty—Jason must’ve kept them wrapped up the whole way here!"
Michelle chuckled softly and let Megan lead her up to the second floor.
Megan stopped in front of Brandon Lewis’s room and knocked. The sound of footsteps got closer, and Emily Gates opened the door. "Michelle? Wow, finally meeting you in person! Come on in."
Megan Shaw quickly pulled Michelle Irwin inside and they both sat down on the couch.
Emily was visibly excited. "You look even prettier than on screen! That drama you did with Jason in ’Love in the City’? I saw a bunch of clips online, it looked amazing! And isn’t the full film dropping right at midnight?"
Michelle nodded and pulled out a small stack of movie tickets from her bag. “I got tickets for everyone tonight—it’s on me. But I’m not sure if you all want to stay up that late, especially with a pregnant lady in the house.”
Megan grabbed the tickets cheerfully. “This kind of thing doesn’t come around often! I’m definitely going. How about you, Emily?”
Emily hesitated, whispering, “I’d love to go, but I have no idea if Brandon will let me.”
Megan patted her chest with a grin. “Leave it to me.”
Laughter burst out between the three of them like a mini sitcom.
It wasn’t until just before dinner that they finally made their way to the dining room.
The whole family gathered around the table. Tonight, Mrs. Lewis was seated in the main spot, eyes closed, gently turning her prayer beads.
Mr. Lewis reached into his pocket and handed out three red envelopes to Megan, Emily, and Michelle. “It’s the New Year. Your grandma and I got these for you girls. Happy New Year.”
Megan waved her envelope in the air. “Grandpa, are you going full CEO now, giving out cards like bonuses?”
“CEO? What now?” Mr. Lewis looked a bit lost.
“As in, overbearing CEO!” Megan turned to Tristan Reid, then playfully tilted his chin. “Woman, don’t waste your tricks on me—I won’t fall for it!”
She cleared her throat and narrowed her eyes, acting all serious. “Woman, you’re one tempting little devil."
Emily burst out laughing. “Honestly, that was dead-on.”
Brandon frowned. “I have never acted like that. How would you even know it’s accurate?”
“They’re all like that in novels and shows,” Emily replied with a wink, her voice trailing off. “Besides, you’re not exactly CEO material.”
“Stop watching that nonsense, it’s all fluff!” Brandon cleared his throat and reached out to lift Emily’s chin. “A real CEO says—Woman, fetch me the scalpel and sutures. I need to stitch this now.”
Samuel Lewis nearly choked from laughing. “Bro, it’s a miracle she married you. That’s not CEO energy, that’s more like Perma-Prof!”
“Perma-what? Some kinda beast?” Oliver Lewis joined in, confused.
Brandon’s face darkened rapidly like the sky before a storm.
Samuel quickly cleared his throat. “No, no, Perma-Prof! As in our dominating Professor Lewis! Okay, fine—second brother, how about you and Michelle give us your CEO version?”
Jason Lewis smirked, clearly enjoying this, and shook his head. "Nah, you do it."
Samuel pressed his hands together dramatically and gave Jason a pleading look.
Jason turned, took Michelle’s hands in his, and spoke gently, “From the moment I looked into your eyes, I saw the stars, the moon... and myself. But I don’t want to only live in your eyes—I want to be in your heart, too. Will you be my girlfriend?”
Michelle gave him a soft, affectionate smile. “I will.”
Jason leaned down and kissed her hand. “It’s a promise, then.”
Samuel clapped with exaggerated awe. “Second brother, you’re insane. Is that how you tricked her into dating you?”
Jason just sipped his wine and smiled.
Megan chuckled. “Samuel, if I ever want to have a future sister-in-law, you better switch careers and go be an actor now.”
Samuel looked utterly confused. “Why though?”
She grinned. “Because memorizing lines might cover up the fact that you’re straight-up clueless.”
