The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 263 You’ve loved her for fourteen years?
Tristan cupped Megan’s face and kissed her fiercely.
Her eyes widened in shock as she clenched her teeth to block his insistent tongue, but it was useless. His kiss was intense and desperate, like a man drowning trying to catch one last breath.
She kept slapping his chest, but he held her tightly, refusing to budge.
Then she bit down hard on his tongue, pushed him away, and landed a loud slap on his face. "Get out! Take her and get lost!"
Tristan looked at her, frozen in place. He stepped forward slightly, but seeing how worked up she was, he hesitated. With a deep breath, he turned and walked out.
When she heard the door close behind him, Megan knew—this was the end for them.
The fact that Tristan didn’t even try to explain meant everything she feared was true.
She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and stared out as Tristan opened the car door for Nicole. Nicole glanced back at her, her eyes calm—no smugness, no gloating, nothing that screamed "the other woman."
Maybe that was her advantage—low profile, subtle, slowly worming her way into his heart without making waves.
Nicole lowered her gaze and got in, taking the passenger seat—Megan’s seat.
Tristan walked around the car to the driver’s side. He paused and looked up at the woman in the window. Seeing her baby bump made his chest twist in pain.
A scorching sensation shot through him again, and he hurried into the car, started it, and drove away from the Lewis estate.
As the car disappeared behind the closing wrought-iron gates, Megan broke down, covering her face and sobbing uncontrollably. He left just like that—didn’t even spare her one last look.
Her cries filled the room.
Emily ran in. "Megan, what’s going on?"
Megan just turned, shook her head, and clung to Emily, crying her heart out, every sob full of agony.
Then Brandon, Jason, and Samuel came rushing in too.
They had no clue what had just happened.
"What the hell?" Samuel scratched his head. "Where’s Tristan?"
His eyes landed on the laptop left on the bed. Once he saw what was frozen on the screen, he exploded.
"Shit! Tristan’s a damn scumbag! Megan’s pregnant with his kid, and he’s out messing around? Where is he?!" Samuel started pacing like a madman, hunting for Tristan. "I knew bringing that woman back was sketchy."
He stormed up to the third floor and kicked open Nicole’s room door—only to find it spotless, clothes folded neatly, but no one there.
He returned to Megan’s room, face grim. "They’re gone. So? Megan, when did you find out?"
Megan didn’t say a word. She waved her hand. "Please leave me alone. I just need some space."
She ushered them all out. "Don’t go after him. Let me at least keep my last bit of dignity." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
She curled up on the bed, hiding under the covers.
Memories of her and Tristan kept replaying in her mind. They had been through so much, loved each other deeply. After all that, how did everything just fall apart once things finally seemed calm? So fragile. So fast.
She’d noticed him acting off lately—distracted, distant. She just hadn’t realized it was a sign of betrayal.
Suddenly, she felt the baby kick. Her chaos of emotions had affected the little one too.She gently placed both hands over her belly. "Baby, don’t be scared. Mommy’s got you. I won’t give up on you—you’re mine, and I’ll protect you."
Out of nowhere, the black Maybach swerved and hit the brakes hard.
Tristan covered his mouth with his hand, but blood still gushed out between his fingers. Bright red and shocking.
Nicole quickly handed him some tissues—clearly, this wasn’t the first time she had seen him like this.
"Tristan, I really don’t get why you’re doing this. You didn’t see Megan’s face when we left—so hurt, so heartbroken. I couldn’t even meet her eyes. Why break her like this?"
Tristan wiped the blood from his lips, then shook his head. "I’ve got three months left. Maybe not even that much. If I cut things off now, she’ll have time to adjust. If I died suddenly, she’d never recover."
Nicole frowned. "But even so, letting Megan think you betrayed her? She must hate you right now."
Tristan gave a bitter laugh. "Let her hate me—that’s better than her finding out someday that it was the sorcery worm from her that killed me. She’d never forgive herself. I’d rather take the blame."
Nicole sighed. "What if she can’t handle it and decides to get rid of the baby?"
Tristan pressed a button and lowered the car window. He gazed out at the moving traffic, his eyes vacant. "If that’s what happens, maybe it’s for the best. I’ll be wiped clean from her world. She deserves someone better. Someone who can actually stay."
Nicole’s eyes welled up. "You two love each other so much... how did it come to this?"
"If I’d known it would end like this, I wouldn’t have gone near her." Tristan rolled the window back up, muting the world outside. "I’d have kept it all to myself—just watched from afar as she married someone who could give her everything."
He chuckled quietly. "But life doesn’t work that way, does it? I messed up. I can’t even keep my promise to see her down the aisle."
Nicole shook her head. "I’ve never been in love, but I think I get what that kind of love feels like—it doesn’t just vanish. You two are tearing each other apart. Do you think it’ll fade, that love will turn to hate and then slowly disappear?"
Tristan kept his eyes ahead. "Maybe. Time changes things. When she meets someone else, when she starts over, she’ll eventually move on."
Nicole understood—finally. But knowing didn’t make it hurt any less.
She looked at him. "Tristan, aren’t you scared Megan will forget you?"
Tristan smiled bitterly. "Yeah. That scares the hell out of me. Even if I’m in the grave, the thought still haunts me. I fell for her the first time I saw her when I was thirteen. She was all light and warmth—so easy to love, so easy to get pulled into."
"You’ve loved her for fourteen years?" Nicole couldn’t hold back the tears. "How do you just walk away from that? Isn’t there something—anything—you can do? What about Karl? He might know how to fix this."
Tristan shook his head. "To get rid of the heart-devouring worm, he’d have to destroy the Silverwing King Worm inside of him too. And Karl can’t survive without it. Just promise me one thing, Nicole—help me finish this act. I’ve never asked you for anything before. Please don’t tell Megan the truth. Let her hate me, if it means she doesn’t live with lifelong guilt."
