The Herbal Scents of Farm Life-Chapter 2977 - 2978: All Demons
The old patriarch looked at them pitifully, on the verge of tears.
"I wanted to say, but what exactly do you want to know?" He had no idea what these people wanted to know, how was he supposed to tell them anything?
Should he just make up some nonsense to tell them?
He wanted to fabricate some tales, but could he do that? These people were sly as ghosts; if he lied, they would immediately catch him, leaving him too afraid to speak.
"What do we want to know?"
Upon hearing the old patriarch’s words, not just Lin Changhong, even Yue Chushui appeared very surprised.
The two exchanged a look, and in each other’s eyes, they saw the same thought.
"Who would’ve thought, old fellow, that you still harbor so many secrets, so many that only when we ask can you answer?"
Lin Changhong turned around, looking sinisterly at the old patriarch, and asked hauntingly.
"Uh."
The old patriarch was stumped by his words.
He didn’t hold that many secrets; he just didn’t want to reveal them all.
He thought if Lin Changhong and the others asked something, he would answer, and might still retain a few unknown secrets, giving him hope to survive and leave.
But now...
He seemed to have slipped up, what to do?
"No, there isn’t...I just... I just don’t know what to say, it happened so many years ago, how could I remember so clearly?
Just... just thinking if you asked what you want to know, I might possibly recall.
If you don’t ask, how would I know what to say... Ah!"
Before he could finish his sentence, Lin Changhong stomped heavily on him, and another scream rang out, only this time, it was stifled halfway by Yue Chushui’s spiritual power.
"Mm mm!"
The old patriarch was in excruciating pain but couldn’t scream, only stared wide-eyed at the two people before him, in disbelief.
Demons, demons, these people are all demons, they’re no better than Lu Tianfeng, all people-eating monsters!
"If you dare utter another sound, disturbing my brother-in-law, we’ll have no need for any secrets!" Yue Chushui warned with cold eyes.
"Mm, mm mm."
Despite the pain, the old patriarch who feared death understood the implication behind Yue Chushui’s words.
No need for secrets meant they intended to kill him.
Driven by the instinct to survive, he shook his head violently, his large eyes fixed on Yue Chushui.
"Mm mm."
"Chushui, what’s it trying to say?"
Lin Changhong saw its demeanor and knew it was trying to convey something.
"There’s something hidden in its bosom, take it out and see." Yue Chushui said.
"So it’s still hiding something, quite cleverly." Lin Changhong sighed, marveling at how magical beasts could hide things anywhere.
Not just in ears or noses, even within a scale could they hide things. Why couldn’t humans possess such abilities?
But now wasn’t the time for such thoughts. He reached out, and searched the old patriarch’s bosom.
Sure enough, he pulled out another item, this time not a map, but a leather-bound book. He flipped through it briefly, but couldn’t understand the contents.
