The Hero is Hunting me!-Chapter 50: The Last Line of Defense
Jacqueline’s lips stretched into a wide, delighted grin.
She was enjoying this.
Every attack.
Every desperate attempt.
Every ounce of resistance thrown at her.
As the smoke slowly dissipated, her eyes locked onto the three women before her—each of them visibly exhausted, their breathing uneven, their stances unsteady.
"Oh?" Jacqueline tilted her head slightly, mockery dripping from her voice.
"Already tired? How disappointing... I was hoping for more."
Without warning—
She vanished.
A violent shockwave cracked the ground as Jacqueline surged forward at terrifying speed, her movements closer to a beast than a human.
Min-seo’s eyes widened.
Before she could even react—
Jacqueline was already standing right in front of her.
Too fast—
A brutal punch smashed directly into Min-seo’s face.
The impact echoed like a cannon blast.
Before Min-seo could recover, Jacqueline followed up with a crushing blow to her abdomen, driving the air from her lungs.
"Kgh—!"
Min-seo doubled over in agony.
Then—
With a cold, merciless expression—
Jacqueline delivered a final kick, slamming her foot into Min-seo’s stomach with monstrous force.
Min-seo’s body was sent flying, skidding violently across the ground before crashing into rubble.
"So fast..." Min-seo thought faintly as darkness crept into her vision.
From a distance, So-ah and Kim Gae-in watched in horror.
So-ah clenched her fists, blue flames surging violently around her arms.
But—
Jacqueline was already behind her.
So-ah felt it.
That killing intent.
She twisted her body just in time.
Jacqueline’s punch came crashing down—but So-ah managed to block it with both arms and immediately counterattacked.
Her fist, engulfed in blue flames, slammed upward into Jacqueline’s chin.
The blow landed cleanly.
Jacqueline’s head snapped back slightly—
Yet she smiled.
A twisted, delighted smile.
Before So-ah could pull back—
Jacqueline grabbed her head with both hands.
"So close," she whispered.
Her knee shot upward.
CRACK!
It smashed directly into So-ah’s face.
So-ah’s vision blurred violently as pain exploded through her skull.
She nearly lost consciousness on the spot.
Jacqueline released her grip.
And in the same motion—
She delivered a savage kick to So-ah’s side.
So-ah’s body flew through the air, crashing into a nearby tree with an ear-splitting sound.
The tree snapped and collapsed under the impact.
"Puah—!"
Blood spilled from So-ah’s mouth as she collapsed to the ground, barely conscious.
"SO-AH!!"
Kim Gae-in screamed, rage completely overtaking her.
Her power surged wildly.
A massive tornado erupted around her body, the wind screaming like a living creature.
Jacqueline planted her feet, bracing herself against the violent gale.
"Tch... Damn wind," Jacqueline muttered.
"You’re always such a pain—!"
Her grin widened.
"But that’s exactly why I like it!!!"
She drew in power.
The purple aura around her body thickened, pulsing violently.
Inside the tornado—
Kim Gae-in focused with everything she had.
She compressed the wind further.
Sharper.
Denser.
Deadlier.
The air itself became a blade.
She forced the tornado closer to Jacqueline.
Jacqueline gritted her teeth.
For the first time—
Her face was sliced by the razor-sharp wind.
Thin cuts appeared across her skin.
Blood trickled down her cheek.
"Hahahaha!!!" Jacqueline laughed loudly.
"YES! MORE!! STRONGER!!"
But despite her laughter—
She was struggling.
The wind was relentless.
She glanced down at the ground beneath her feet.
A cruel idea formed.
Jacqueline smirked.
In the next instant—
She slammed both hands into the earth.
The ground trembled violently.
From within the tornado, Kim Gae-in felt the earth beneath her shake.
"W-What—!?"
Then— 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The land itself lifted.
A massive slab of earth tore free from the ground.
Kim Gae-in lost focus for just a split second.
The tornado dissipated.
"Kugh—!"
Jacqueline hoisted the massive chunk of earth above her head, her muscles bulging unnaturally.
She stared straight at Kim Gae-in.
"What!?" Kim Gae-in gasped.
"She lifted that much ground!?"
Jacqueline hurled it forward.
Kim Gae-in snapped back to reality.
She channeled wind into both hands, shaping it into razor-sharp blades.
She charged.
Their fists collided.
The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward.
Kim Gae-in managed to block Jacqueline’s punch.
Jacqueline followed up with a knee strike—but Kim Gae-in narrowly dodged.
Wind wrapped around Kim Gae-in’s legs.
Her speed skyrocketed.
She blurred.
Launching a relentless barrage of attacks, Kim Gae-in struck again and again.
Jacqueline couldn’t dodge.
She blocked.
Clashed.
Endured.
Cuts began appearing across Jacqueline’s body.
Shallow—but numerous.
For the first time, Jacqueline was being pushed back.
Kim Gae-in smiled faintly.
I’ve got her—
BOOM.
Jacqueline’s hand snapped forward and clamped around Kim Gae-in’s throat mid-dash.
"K-Kugh—!!"
Kim Gae-in gasped, her body freezing in shock.
"Let go... you bastard..."
"You want me to let go?" Jacqueline said calmly.
"Fine."
She released her grip.
Before Kim Gae-in could escape—
Jacqueline’s fists rained down.
Punch after punch after punch.
Each blow landed with terrifying speed.
Kim Gae-in’s consciousness shattered.
Her body collapsed to the ground.
Unmoving.
Defeated.
Jacqueline straightened up.
Her gaze slowly lifted—
Locking onto the figure standing atop the rooftop.
Elvera.
Elvera clenched her teeth.
So it’s come to this...
She leapt down without hesitation.
"Venom Blast!"
Elvera thrust her hand downward.
A massive dark-purple slime dragon burst forth, roaring as it surged toward Jacqueline.
At the last moment—
Elvera flipped backward, leaping off the slime dragon.
The dragon slammed into Jacqueline.
Viscous purple liquid splashed across her body.
"Ah..." Jacqueline muttered.
"That stings..."
The liquid was no ordinary poison.
It was high-grade venom—acidic enough to melt nearly anything it touched.
Jacqueline’s arm began to dissolve.
But then—
Her aura flared.
Purple energy engulfed her arm.
The melting flesh regenerated instantly.
"What!?" Elvera gasped.
"Damn it... That’s insane regeneration!"
Jacqueline stared at her, eyes narrowing.
"...I know this power."
Elvera tensed immediately.
"Elvera. The Venom Acid."
Elvera’s eyes widened.
"You know me?"
"Of course," Jacqueline replied.
"America’s beloved hero. Famous everywhere. Then you vanished during a mission."
Elvera maintained her stance, refusing to lower her guard.
"I’m a former hero too," Jacqueline continued.
"My nickname is Jacqueline."
Elvera froze.
Jacqueline—
SS-rank hero.
Member of the World Jury Council.
"One of the World Jury..." Elvera said slowly.
"What are you doing here?"
Jacqueline smiled.
"Capturing my prey."
Elvera’s heart sank.
Indigo...
"Why are you doing this?" Elvera demanded.
"You were a hero. Why become a villain?"
Jacqueline’s smile twisted.
"I didn’t choose to become a villain," she hissed.
"It’s because of Indigo!!"
Her aura exploded outward.
"He drove me insane! I’ve never met anyone stronger than him! He’s the only one who can rival me!"
Elvera was stunned.
Yoo Jinhoo... is equal to her...?
"Enough talk," Jacqueline said coldly.
"Move... or die."
She vanished.
Rushing straight toward Elvera—
The final defense of Yoo Jinhoo’s home.
Could the last line of defense stand against Jacqueline?
