The Hero is Hunting me!-Chapter 63: The Price of Peace
The front door opened.
Elvera, So-ah, and Min-seo entered the house while carrying several shopping bags in their hands.
Their eyes widened the moment they saw me standing between Zofia and Kim Gae-in, desperately trying to calm them down.
"U-uhm... both of you, please calm down..."
I said, my face already covered in sweat.
The two of them were clearly irritated with each other.
"Can you shut up already, you bitch!? I’m trying to sweep here!!"
Zofia shouted angrily.
"What did you just say to me!? You can’t even sweep properly! You’ve been sweeping the same spot for the past ten minutes!"
Kim Gae-in yelled back.
Their argument showed no signs of stopping.
Elvera walked closer.
"Oh? What’s going on? Why is it so noisy in here..."
She said calmly.
Zofia glanced at Elvera.
Elvera responded with a sly smile.
"Hm~ so the person who defeated me a few days ago can’t even sweep the floor properly."
Elvera was clearly mocking her.
That was starting to get on my nerves.
Zofia’s expression darkened.
So-ah and Min-seo walked closer and stood behind Elvera.
"What’s happening here?"
So-ah asked, confused.
I let out a sigh and explained.
"I told Kim Gae-in to teach Zofia how to sweep, but... I didn’t expect it to turn into something this complicated..."
"Hah... I’ll teach her myself."
So-ah said.
She placed the shopping bags on the table and walked between them.
"Both of you, stop arguing. I’ll teach Noona Zofia how to sweep."
Kim Gae-in crossed her arms and looked away.
"Fine. You do it. She’s been testing my patience all day."
So-ah then calmly began teaching Zofia how to sweep properly.
Surprisingly, Zofia actually listened.
The atmosphere finally became peaceful again.
Hah... finally.
I didn’t expect Kim Gae-in to argue this badly with Zofia.
She probably still hadn’t accepted her defeat from a few days ago.
I crossed my arms and looked at Elvera.
"So... what did you guys buy?"
Elvera turned toward me and smiled softly.
With a small laugh, she replied.
"Just some clothes."
"Really? Then... where’s the receipt? Let me see it."
Elvera glanced at Min-seo.
Min-seo understood immediately and reached into her pocket.
She took out a small piece of paper.
Min-seo walked toward me and handed me the receipt.
I took it and looked at the total.
And at that moment...
My heart almost stopped.
"3,938,503 won."
Too many numbers.
T-too much money...
Why did they buy clothes this expensive...?
I could feel my legs starting to shake.
I remembered clearly.
The money in my bank account was only around 200,000 won.
"Ah... my money... it’s probably flying somewhere far away in heaven now..."
I muttered weakly.
I collapsed onto the sofa.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.
*At Seoul University*
Ji-hye was sitting at her desk in the classroom.
Her face looked bored.
Jin-ah, who was sitting next to her, noticed and tilted her head.
"Ji-hye? What’s wrong with you?"
She asked softly.
Ji-hye glanced at her.
"Hm? I’m just bored."
"Bored? How can you be bored in class like this?"
"You know... all these lessons are things I’ve already learned before. I just have to pretend to pay attention." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Jin-ah smiled in understanding.
"Ah... just like I expected from Ji-hye~ you really are amazing."
While the professor was writing something on the board, the classroom door was knocked.
"Hm? Oh! It seems he has arrived."
The professor said excitedly.
He turned around to face the class.
"Alright everyone, today we have a transfer student."
The students immediately started whispering among themselves.
But Ji-hye still looked uninterested.
The professor turned toward the door.
"Please come in."
The classroom door opened.
A young man walked inside.
Handsome.
Blue hair.
Green eyes.
Fair skin.
Tall.
And extremely good-looking.
The female students immediately started whispering and blushing.
The young man walked toward the professor and turned to face the class.
With a gentle smile, he introduced himself.
"My name is Elias Jonathan Schmidt. You can call me Elias. I’m from Germany and I just transferred here. My Korean might sound a bit awkward, so I hope you’ll help me."
The girls in the classroom looked completely charmed.
Even Jin-ah was blushing.
"Oh my god... he’s insanely handsome!!"
Beside her, Ji-hye still looked bored.
But at that moment...
Elias glanced toward Ji-hye.
Ji-hye felt a strange chill.
The student in front of her whispered to her friend.
"Oh my god! He looked at me!! I have to invite him to lunch later!"
Ji-hye felt uneasy.
She looked at Elias with suspicion.
"Please choose your seat, Mr. Elias."
The professor said.
"Ah, yes Professor."
Elias replied politely.
He walked forward, passing several female students who were clearly trying to get his attention.
Elias kept walking until he reached the empty seat next to Ji-hye.
He sat down.
"Is this seat empty?"
He asked with a gentle smile.
"Yes, it is. You can sit there if you want."
Ji-hye replied flatly.
"Thank you."
Elias smiled warmly at her.
The girls in the class immediately felt jealous.
But Ji-hye looked completely uninterested.
A few moments later...
The class continued.
Elias rested his chin on his right hand and turned toward Ji-hye.
"You look very beautiful... completely different from all the other girls in this class~ what’s your name?"
Ji-hye answered without even looking at him.
"My name is Ji-hye. And thank you for the compliment."
"Ji-hye... what a beautiful name... not just the person, but even her name is beautiful~"
Ji-hye didn’t respond.
She focused on the professor.
"Heh~ you’re really cold toward me. You know, that hurts my heart~"
"Stop talking nonsense and focus on the class. You don’t want to get into trouble on your first day, right?"
Elias looked slightly surprised.
"Well, well~ I don’t want that either."
He turned back to the professor.
"Honestly... you’re the first person who’s ever been this cold to me~"
Ji-hye felt slightly annoyed.
But she stayed silent.
Something about Elias felt... wrong.
Not dangerous.
But unnatural.
As if he was wearing a mask.
