The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 569: The Divine Guard
To say that everyone was shocked was an understatement. Being alive for as long as they were, seeing the death of deities wasn't abnormal. What was abnormal was the way Kai, or Aion, had killed these five deities.
Normally, one would have to destroy a deity's divine spirit to fully kill them, and the stronger the deity, the stronger their divine spirit, or essence, is. However, when Kai killed the 'traitors', they simply ceased to exist.
The only being in existence who was able to do such a thing was Nemean. While Progenitor decay also erases beings from existence, it's not to the same degree since the energy doesn't instantly kill the victim, only poisons them, which then leads to death unless used with the user's power, like an energy beam.
"S-Such a weapon exists?!" The others asked in shock, slowly backing away to not get grazed by the Progenitor Blade
"Why are you all backing away? I'm not going to stab any of you with this." Kai said as he waved the blade around, scaring everyone there.
Even Clarisse was nervous because she remembered that Kai wanted to use this specific weapon against her. She mentally thanked Leo for stopping him from doing such a thing.
"As you can see, I have purged the traitors. Now, before the Divine Guard arrives, is there anyone else who wishes to confess their wrongdoings? I'm only giving you this one chance. Speak up now, or I'll slaughter your families when I learn who went behind my back later."
Of course, no one spoke up because none of them were traitors. Still, the fear Kai instilled in them, the seed he planted in their heads, would make them worry about every action they took, hoping it didn't make them seem like a traitor.
But Kai wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted to instigate them even more. After all, he was thinning out the enemies he would eventually have to deal with. He walked toward the father of Xenovia and stared at him with a cold, dark, and cruel expression.
"Your daughter was a traitor, even confessing to it. Tell me, how am I supposed to think that you aren't associated with her?" By claiming that he was a spy as well, the people related or close to the 'spies' would freak out.
"L-Lord Aion, please believe me! I would never betray you! I have devoted every ounce of my being to serving you and fulfilling your wishes and desires!"
Kai couldn't help but laugh at the statement. He completely understood what the man was saying, but he decided to act petty, thinking that this was something Aion would do.
"Really? Every ounce of your being? Yet, your daughter betrays me? Wasn't she created from a part of your being?"
"I-I...M-My lor—"
Kai stabbed him in the chest, watching as his body started to crack, then fade into nothingness.
"You see. I don't really like traitors or people who think that I'm a fool. His daughter didn't even have access to all of the important information that was going through our network. So, someone, tell me, how would she know just what to tell our enemies?" Kai asked
Someone raised their hand. "Because she might have snuck in and stolen the information?"
Kai killed that guy by throwing the blade into his face. After summoning it back into his hands, he swung the blade downward as if to toss the blood off it, but the blood was erased as well, so he was just aura farming at this point.
"What a stupid response. Anyone else wish to answer the question?"
One person reluctantly raised their hand. "They were both traitors."
"Correct! I'll make sure your family and planets are well compensated. Good work."
"T-Thank you, my lord!"
Kai waved the guy off, then returned his attention to everyone. "Now, do you all understand what this means?"
The crowd backed away from the families and friends of the people who were traitors. They didn't wish to be associated with them one bit, not after seeing what Kai would do to them.
"M-My lord! Please have mercy! We aren't traitors! Please, you have to believe us!"
"And how will you prove your innocence?" Kai wondered
"Y-You can check the soul brand that you have engraved on us! Please, check them!"
"Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!" In an instant, Kai killed everyone related to the traitors.
"Someone, tell me what the soul brand allows me to do?" Kai honestly didn't know, so he genuinely needed this information.
"I-It allows you to not only control us if need be, but allows you to peek into our souls to search our memories."
"So, what the fuck do you all think I've been doing for the past thirty minutes?"
Everyone looked down and gulped out of fear.
"Don't be so gloomy, all of the traitors have been taken care of. While I admit that this is definitely a blow to our forces, it's better to nip the bud before it sprouts. Now, prepare for an attack. The Divine Guard is here."
Just then, the wall to the castle exploded, and millions of soldiers charged into the throne room.
"Kill those heretics!"
"For Lord Nemean!"
"Kill Aion!"
The guards slaughtered anyone in their sight the moment they arrived.
"Protect our lord!"
"Kill them!"
"For Lord Aion!"
Part of Kai's plan was to make sure that the Divine Guard actually didn't know that he was Aion. This way, they could fight with their actual lives. The only thing that sucked was that he couldn't really kill any of them like that, so he made sure Clarisse was the one to fight him.
"You filthy insects! How dare you show your disgusting faces in my presence!" Kai's energy erupted from his body, and he lunged at one of the divine guards who thought she was about to lose her life.
The bloodlust he was releasing was very real, and for a brief moment, even Kai thought he was about to kill the woman.
"You scum!" Clarisse arrived, blocking his attack with her blade.
"Clarisse, my old teacher. Come to watch me kill my father? If you join me, I wouldn't mind showing you a good time."
"Fucking pig! You're a disgrace to your family! Your youngest brother is a better successor than you would ever be!"
A vein popped from Kai's head as he roared out of anger and pushed Clarisse back.
"Fucking whore! I'll show you where that mouth belongs and put you in your place!" He slammed into Clarisse, taking their battle outside.
Once they were out of sight, Kai released his disguise, created clones to act as Clarisse and Aion battling, and then finally released the laughter he was holding in this entire time.
"Pwahahaha! How was my acting? Was it great?" He was clutching his stomach because of how hard he was laughing.
"It was amazing! I honestly can't believe that you played that role so well. Honestly, young master, I thought you were actually Aion to the point where I wanted to slit your throat."
"Haha! I'll take that as a compliment."
"To be honest, I didn't think this plan would work, but seeing it in action, oh, I know Aion is going to be pissed when he finds out about this."
"He's gonna shout my name across the universe out of anger, but the joke is gonna be on him since sound doesn't travel in space! Haha!"
Clarisse frowned. "Y-Young Master, we're speaking to each other in space right now."
"Shut up."
"Sorry."
The fight lasted a whole hour before things finally died down. The losses were more on Aion's side, but the Divine Guard still suffered a great loss.
Aion's followers went from a few million to a few hundred thousand, while the Divine forces still had people in the millions left. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Their weapons and armor are actually broken, holy shit!" Kai could tell that the weapons and armor that the Divine Guard used were of a high quality. It was like a weaker version of his progenitor blade.
"Your father made them."
"I bet."
She smiled. "Now that the battle is in our favor, do you think we should end this?"
"Yeah. But let me win. I have a plan. Oh, and don't worry about your subordinates, they won't die."
"What do you mean?"
"Heh, you'll see."
Back on the battlefield, everyone was still fighting for their lives when Clarisse came crashing into the building with a missing arm and tons of deep wounds that reached her soul.
When Kai arrived, he was also injured, but not to the same extent as Clarisse.
"You may have gotten weapons from my father that could harm me, but your power is still inconsequential to my own." He looked around, scoffed, then held up his sword.
"You all are a disappointment. How dare you claim that you are my followers and fall to a bunch of nobodies!" With a swing of his blade, he decapitated hundreds of thousands of Divine Guards, wiping them from existence.
