Chapter 708 Denial After settling down in their room, Fu Juan said to Lanying while the servants arranged their things in the walk-in closet, “Make yourself at home.”

”Am I really free to do that?” Lanying asked with a wild smile.

”Of course, this is my house, and although I am married out, I still have full rights here. Since I adopted you, you are my daughter, so make yourself at home.” Fu Juan assured her with a smile.

Now, there was a half-smile remaining on Lanying’s face, but then she asked, “You said you are going to introduce me to your father…”

At her reminder, Fu Juan got up from the bed and said to her, “Thanks for reminding me. It looks like my two sisters-in-law are angry, so why don’t we go curry favor with my old man, otherwise he would also be angry with me for not introducing you immediately we came in.”.

Lanying was more than happy to see the head of the Fu family. She has heard so much about him, and couldn’t wait to meet him. Now, he was her grandfather, and she wished to win his favor.

Fu Juan took Lanying’s hand, and they both left for Grandfather Fu’s study, without knowing that he already had an idea about them.

When Fu Juan had come in with Lanying, Butler Li got the news and went straight to report it to the old man.

Grandfather Fu was indeed surprised by the latest happenings. His daughter adopted a grown-up young woman without letting them know, and now she brings her over without their knowledge.

”What does she take this place for?” Grandfather Fu said with furrowed brows as the unhappiness on his face could be seen clearly.

Butler Li didn’t respond to him, because he couldn’t answer that question, so he remained mute until he was asked to leave.

He knew clearly that the old man was angry with his daughter’s actions and didn’t want to talk about it, but only for now.

”She just arrived today, and she has already started to challenge my authority and the family’s rules.” Grandfather Fu said to himself.

When Fu Juan and Lanying got to the door of grandfather Fu’s study, they met Butler Li. After Butler Li bowed slightly to Fu Juan with a straight face, Fu Juan smiled and introduced him to her Lanying.

”Butler Li, this is my adoptive daughter, Lanying. Lanying, this is my father’s butler, and he has been serving him for years now.”

Lanying bowed and greeted Butler Li cheerfully, but sue only received a glance and a nod from him. This little action didn’t go unnoticed by Fu Juan, but she didn’t talk about it.

Fixing her smiling gaze back to him, she asked if her father was in his study, and he nodded.

”Good, because I want to see him, and also introduce my daughter who is a part of this family, to him.”

Butler Li put his arm forward and blocked them from making an entrance. “I’m sorry, but your adoptive daughter can not enter Master’s study.”

Fu Juan was annoyed by the access denial and explained that Lanying was not an outsider who couldn’t walk into her grandfather’s study, but that sentence caused Butler Li’s facial expression to become stern.

As he glanced at her, he said, “From the history of this relationship, your adoptive daughter is still an outsider because you have never introduced her to Master before. With this alone, she can not go in with you, she has to wait here, but if master approves of her presence, even I wouldn’t dare you to hold her back.”

Fu Juan is speechless and at the same time, annoyed that her daughter was referred to as an outsider. But what choice did she have? None!

She had no choice but to ask Lanying to wait for her outside, while she goes in first. Lanying was disappointed because she really wanted to see the old man, but she still had to accept her fate.

She faked a smile and told Fu Juan to go in, that she would be fine by herself.

When Fu Juan went in, Butler Li fixed his scrutinizing gaze on Lanying who looked uncomfortable and was forced to look away.

When Fu Juan got into the study, she smiled faintly as she saw her aged father and went to sit on the chair at his table. She greeted him and asked how he was doing.

Instead of replying to her questions, grandfather Fu closed the document on his table and said to her, “I heard that you came here with a young woman.”

Immediately, a smile blossomed on Fu Juan’s face as she felt that her old man was interested in her daughter.

”Yes, I came here with my adoptive daughter, Lanying. I had wanted to bring her in so you can see her, but your butler didn’t let her come in.” Fu Juan complained.

Grandfather Fu cut in immediately without letting her finish her words, “Who did you tell that you adopted an adult, and was bringing her over? Have you forgotten your basic manners?”

”Why is everybody against me today? I have already had a fair share of Hee ChuHua’s attitude. Am I no longer free to live my life the way I want?” Fu Juan said with an annoyed gaze.

”You are free, but once you are in my house, you should follow the rules and act like someone who was raised well! Is this the kind of attitude you give to your husband, even outsiders?” Grandfather Fu asked.

There was a 3 seconds silence before Fu Juan set her pride aside to apologize. “Fine! I’m sorry for not following the family rules.”

Grandfather Fu looked more dissatisfied with her attitude and said, “We need to talk about this particular issue some other time, you can leave.”

”What about my daughter, can she come in now?” Fu Juan asked with an anticipated gaze. She looked like she couldn’t wait to show off her adoptive daughter.

”I will see her during dinner. Also, let me warn you. Your adoptive daughter has nothing to do with the Fu family until you explain certain things to us. Now, you can leave.” Grandfather Fu said and picked up the document before him.
