Chapter 716 Lanying’s other side For the past few minutes, Lanying has been trying to placate her angry mother since Fu Hee left.

”I am the only daughter of the Fu family, how dare her to talk to me that way! Even outsiders are treated better than me!” Fu Juan said.

Lanying knew she couldn’t talk bad about anybody therefore, she only continued to comfort her.

”Mum, if you continue this way, we will be thrown out of the house, and it will take a while before we will be allowed to come back again.”

Lanying’s reminder caused Fu Juan to be angrier. She pushed her hands away and said, “What’s so special about staying where nobody wants or respects you?”

Lanying could swear that she was fed up with her tantrums, but she couldn’t do that as this was not the right time to flare up, she still had a major goal to accomplish.

”Then what about being patient and trying to bond wire the family? If we don’t lay low everyone is going to hate us. I’m not complaining about the bedroom because it is okay. The most important thing is to try and bond with your family.” Lanying said with a softened tone.

Although Fu Juan didn’t stop ranting immediately, those words sank into her head and reminded her of the reason for bringing her over.

In the sitting room, Fu Hee who was angry earlier was seen drinking a glass of juice, just before her granddaughter came to her.

All of her worries disappeared immediately as she brought the little girl into her arms, while her Nanny watched her from the side.

”Da Xia, are you going somewhere?” Fu Hee asked as she released the little girl from her embrace.

”Yes, I’m going to see Ocean, do you want to come along?” Jasmine asked with an inviting smile.

Fu Hee couldn’t get over her cuteness and ended up squeezing her cheeks gently. “I hate to reject your invitation. But if I wasn’t busy, I would have loved to follow you.”

”It’s okay, grandma, I can go alone, bye,” Jasmine said as she waved at her.

Fu Hee waved back in return and said to her, “Don’t be late for lunch.”

”Okay.” Jasmine agreed before turning around to leave. Fu Hee reminded her Nanny not to let her play in the sun before they left together.

It wasn’t long after Jasmine left that Fu Lei came out asking for her, and she told him where to find her, and so he left.

When her surrounding returned to quietness, Fu Hee thought of something and called the housekeeper over.

”I want you to go and inform that young woman of the basic rules she has to follow while in this family.”

Fu Hee had just remembered that it was important that Lanying knows the basic family rules and follow them so that she wouldn’t be blamed for not letting her know if there were to be a default, as she doubted that Fu Juan mentioned anything to her after seeing her walk out on the family the other day.

The housekeeper took her instruction and left.

Lanying was all alone in the room when the housekeeper knocked and walked in to tell her about the rules.

Lanying who didn’t look like she was in a good mood, lay on her bed and listened to the housekeeper.

The housekeeper started by giving her the 3 different times for dining in a day and reminded her never to be late if she was going to join the rest of the family at the dining table.

”You are not exempted from taking tea and quick snacks in your bedroom. For now, there are restricted areas you shouldn’t cross. Apart from your bedroom, the dining hall, General sitting room, the in-house gym, and the lawn outside, you are not allowed to explore any other part of the house unless granted permission by the Mistress. And most importantly, you can’t take photos or videos of any part of this house.”

When the housekeeper was done listing the basic rules she had to follow, she asked her if there was anything she didn’t understand, and if she had any questions to ask.

Lanying couldn’t believe that she would be given such instructions openly. She knew she was not yet accepted into the family, but to restrict her movement and stop her from exploring, wasn’t right to her, but she didn’t say anything about it.

She was already unhappy with the fact that her new bedroom didn’t have any walk-in closet for her to show off, still, she felt at ease knowing that she now had her own privacy during her stay there.

Without letting her dissatisfaction show on her face, Lanying said to the housekeeper, “I got everything you said. But can I have a cup of tea right now, I’m very thirsty?”

The housekeeper smiled slightly and corrected the impression she had of her, “Actually, you can’t ask me to bring things for you as their other servants around. My job is already very tasking, but since you had no idea about it, I will ask a maid to bring you a cup of tea.”

Lanying acted flustered at her revelation for only a few seconds, before saying with a taunting gaze, “I thought that as a servant, your role is no different from other servants working under you, but it seems that things are different here.”

The housekeeper saw the obvious taunt on her face, but that didn’t move her at all. She didn’t show her emotions. She still had that slight smile on her face till she left that place.

”Boring!” Lanying said and rolled her eyes after the door closed with a gentle thud sound.

’She didn’t really fail to meet my expectations of her.’ The housekeeper said as she walked along the hallway without a smile. It was as if she knew that Lanying had this other side of her.

Lanying ordered tea but she never got it after disrespecting the Fu family’s housekeeper. This little retaliation, made Lanying know how powerless she was in the Fu family.

No matter who she was, she was just like an ant that could be easily trampled on by servants of the Fu family.
