The hivemind is conquering for me?-Chapter 745: Silver Pauldrons

Arriving at the edge of the battlefield. I could see the elite squad holding a ridge quite heroically, but they were being overrun.

Nerissa then pointed to three large Drakoshi and spoke. "Those are our targets, we get to them, the rest stop coming."

"Shit there are too many between us and them If only-!!!"

"Onyx, Sapphire and Sithrik, begin to clear out the enemy with Nerissa, I am going to jump in."

I then expelled the duo out of my Mindspace and proceeded to ’jump good’. With my new levels of Gyrokinesis. I could jump a lot further, but now seamlessly adjust for how far thanks to my ability to fly.

I didn’t need the latter part though as I jumped well over two hundred meters. Once above my target. I applied all the Gyrokinetic force I could muster, shooting me downwards like a bullet.

I positioned Zircon let out an uncontrolled war cry and moments later. Her body penetrated the ten foot tall Drakoshi’s skull. I landed on its shoulders as its body began to fall, but I suddenly felt a chill go down my spine as I spun and just deflected a blow in time.

The blow was so powerful my arms cried as I was sent hurdling backwards into the backs of some other Drakoshi. I was now surrounded but had no time to dawdle. Raising my hand I charged some Pyrokinetic energy and released a flashbang.

The little beady eyes of the Drakoshi couldn’t handle the intensity and all those close to me became stunned. Making space for myself. I gutted two with ease before releasing my minigun in full volume until the drum emptied. Not having time to reload from the other two. I began to charge at the one that had sent me flying.

It seemed to have a look of surprise on its face before it flashed its sharp teeth and charged towards me.

Already I knew this big boy was a cut above the rest on the other battlefield. It was fast. Almost as fast as I was and with all that muscle. Was probably stronger also. But thankfully, I didn’t just rely on those two points.

Raising my hand again to draw Pyrokinesis into an attack, the big guy must have seen my flashbang’s effect on the grunts and looked away for a second, but that was a mistake on its part as I let out a torrent of pure flames towards its hands.

"GRaaah!" It raged in agony but continued its charge and swung down its axe at me. I dodged to the side, but this one wasn’t dumb enough to put its whole strength into the swing and followed up with a counter. This one I deflected with much difficulty before slashing at the Drakoshi’s leg. It allowed me to do so, thinking my sword was weak, but that was its mistake as Zircon cut through him like piss in snow.

Still, it was a flesh wound and only seemed to piss off the big bastard as it continued its assault.

Not only that, but I had more grunts coming at my flank and jumped upwards.

I watched as the Drakoshi big boy smirked wickedly at my tactical error. Jumping usually meant no manoeuvrability. You were stuck in place. Nothing to kick off or reposition. It raised its axe and attempted to cut me in half.

I simply smirked back under my helm and contrary to its understanding of reality, I pushed off the air dodging the attack and counterattacking, Landing a deep cut to the big boys bone before aiming my minigun and firing a few rounds of the pyrokinetic bullets towards its face, getting one right into its left eye. Blinding it.

The big boy roared as I landed on the ground and let out another flashbang. I then took a brief moment to reload my minigun and once again.

*BRRRRRRRRRT*

After a short burst, I then repositioned once more closer to the underside of the ridge. There was a massive pile of Drakoshi bodies that would make traversal more difficult for the big boy. It seemed my attack was more than effective however, as once it began to charge me again, it slowed down immensely. It seemed surprised as it watched me outmanoeuvre it a few times as the fight turned into a more wary form of combat for it.

Still, I was not waiting around for much longer. Charging forward after flexing my leg muscles, I assaulted the big boy with more speed than I had been using. I feinted a strike where I had been targeting him, his hands, before forgoing my safety and surpassing its guard.

It must also have assumed I was going for its hand again and on reflex tried to kick me away. Using my forbidden lego brick, I extended Zircon out, increased the gravity around me which seemed almost too trivial, and acted as an anchor as the big boy cut his own foot in half vertically.

I then capitalised on that as it was falling back and thew Zircon at its falling body. She struck true , directly through its neck and began wiggling violently for extra damage as the big boy grasped at her desperately before going limp.

I had no time to watch the show however, as the Drakoshi around me let out a horrifying growl, grunt, shriek noise and began charging me.

It was not hard though for some reason all of them began to move even slower than before. And I began punching and kicking my way through them before Zircon returned to me with a suspiciously red fuller meaning she decided to have ’snackies’ before coming back to me.

After a few minutes and once I was in the clear for a moment, I turned to look for the third big boy. It had made it further towards the ridge than the other two, but I spotted something strange as it went to react to something.

A second later I saw Onyx jump at the big boy, dive towards its chest and come out of the other side holding its hearts. She then held them above herself, squeezed the hearts and drank the blood juice.

’I have the weirdest boner right now.’ Was all my brain could manage to think before getting back into the fight.

The fight didn’t last long though after Onyx’s stunt as the Drakoshi began to rout. I watched Onyx, Sapphire and Sithrik give chase to those running away while those on the ridge also shot at their backs.

I sent a mental command through our bonds not to go too far to Onyx and Sapphire before turning to the ridge. Nerissa was already making her way up there, though she looked tired as she was walking a bit sluggish so I ran to go join her.

"Are you ok?" I asked just before we got to the survivors and she nodded. "Yes. Dense gravity pocket. Slows the movements. Turn off your Gyrokinesis for a moment."

I did just as she asked before hastily turning it back on. "Ooooh~ That explains a lot of my combat thoughts just then. I thought I was developing super speed for a moment. Heh. Good thing I am immune huh? That fight might not have gone as smoothly."

" ’Gone as smoothly’ he says... Apollo you killed two silver pauldrons. On your own Three considering Onyx is with you. That is a big deal for the Spartari military."

"I don’t know... I feel like I got off quite luckily though with no damage. I mean, the first deflect almost broke my arms. I think the Drakoshi was just over confident and fell for my tricks. Definitely a harder fight than the drop pod."

Nerissa’s back straightened out and she regained her vigour as we passed the Gravity anomaly. "I am proud of you for saying that Apollo. You continue to make me feel honoured to be called your friend."

"Hey, don’t get sweet on me in the middle of a warzone. I’ll lose focus." I chuckled, but my heart felt warm hearing her say that.

As we ascended up the ridge. The elites were looking at us with a mixture of gratitude and curiosity. The gratitude was more for Nerissa. Her armour was easy to make her out as a Praetorian, but mine was still quite alien looking despite being of similar colour underneath all the blood hence the curiosity.

We walked towards the centre of the ridge full of red flowers towards the woman I assumed was in charge. Beside her was most likely her second in charge who was visibly vibrating in place as we approached.

Being the official one in charge, considering Nerissa was just here for fun, I stopped before the woman in the red and gold armour and announced. "Hello. Sorry we were late. This Is Praetorian Nerissa and I am- 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"-Apollo!" The second in command suddenly shouted with pure delight in her voice before running up to me and hugging me tightly. "Oh I missed you so much. Did you come to save me? Hehe, my hero~"

I was flabbergasted, until the commander asked, equally flabbergasted. "Wait. Apollo? Apollo Lambdason?" She asked and removed her helmet. My eyes widened upon seeing who it was. She might not have been in a dress and her hair might have been a mess, but I recognised the Hyllus look anywhere.

"Rhea?" I said in shock, removing my own helmet before looking down. I then removed the helmet of the woman hugging me and was still in shock. "Willow?"

Willow then looked up at me, her eyes narrowing in delight before simply saying.

"Hello future boyfriend~"
