The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker-Chapter 692 - 654: Addicted?
Back in the room, Qiao Yuxian didn’t turn on the light, standing at the door leaning against it.
The room was pitch black, so quiet that there wasn’t a sound.
She leaned against the door, staring into the seemingly endless darkness before her.
Suddenly, she straightened her body and turned her gaze to the room’s balcony.
Qiao Yuxian stared intently at the balcony, watching as the half-drawn curtain seemed to move slightly in the dark.
A very soft sound came from the room.
Like leaves falling to the ground.
A very light sound, but Qiao Yuxian still heard it.
After a few seconds, she abruptly raised her hand and turned on the room’s light.
And in the instant the room lit up, she saw Gu Yanjing step out from behind the curtain.
Dressed in black, with a jacket covering his chin, his eyes radiated with coldness.
Because of the cool night, the corners of his eyes were somewhat red.
Like a flower blossoming on bright, clean ice.
Bright red and seductive.
Qiao Yuxian stared at him in disbelief.
Gu Yanjing stood on the balcony, glancing at her wet, reddened eyes, then pulled the curtain shut with a flick of his hand.
A rustling sound followed.
Qiao Yuxian snapped back to reality, looked at him, then frowned, and said fiercely, "Who allowed you to come!"
Gu Yanjing looked into her eyes and walked toward her.
Qiao Yuxian quickly said, "Don’t come closer!"
Gu Yanjing acted as if he couldn’t hear, swiftly moving in front of her, grabbing her hands, lifting them, pressing them against the wall, then kissed her.
So sudden, the words Qiao Yuxian wanted to say were blocked back, a hum unintentionally escaping her throat.
Gu Yanjing kissed urgently, and at her hum, he pressed harder.
The sense of oppression instantly engulfed the whole room, surrounding her entirely.
Qiao Yuxian was forced to tilt her head back, uncomfortably complying with him.
With her hands pinned above her head, her shoulders also felt uncomfortable, she squirmed a little, only for Gu Yanjing’s grasp to tighten.
Their bodies pressed even closer.
Qiao Yuxian hadn’t gone out, wearing little to begin with, and Gu Yanjing wasn’t wearing much either.
Pressed together, they could feel each other’s body temperature slowly rising, and their heartbeats were getting faster.
As time passed, Qiao Yuxian’s shoulders became truly uncomfortable, she wriggled again, and let out a dissatisfied sound.
But Gu Yanjing behaved as if he couldn’t hear, not relaxing his grip at all.
Until Qiao Yuxian mumbled his name softly.
He regained a hint of reason, slowly releasing his hold, then pecked her lips twice and placed her arms over his shoulders.
Qiao Yuxian’s eyes became moist again, glaring at him with little intimidation.
Gu Yanjing lifted a hand to wipe her lips, then pinched her face, saying, "Addicted to acting."
Some things needed no words; both of them understood at heart.
Just a look, a sentence, and they knew what the other wanted to do, enabling seamless cooperation.
They shared absolute tacit understanding and absolute trust.
Qiao Yuxian suddenly felt guilty, pursed her lips, and looked at him innocently.
Actually, she didn’t know if what she was doing was right.
Just that since the plan came to this point, she followed along this far.
They were constantly targeting Gu Yanjing, wanting his life.
At the time, she thought, if she believed them, allowed them to think she was opposed to Gu Yanjing.
If Gu Yanjing were to act under her hand, might it somewhat keep Gu Yanjing safe for a short time?
They wouldn’t need to keep such a close eye on Gu Yanjing, allowing him some ease.
Gu Yanjing pinched Qiao Yuxian’s face again.
Qiao Yuxian wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips, saying, "Honey, my legs are weak, I can’t stand."
Gu Yanjing’s eyes immediately softened a lot, lifting her by the waist slightly.
Qiao Yuxian wrapped her legs around his waist, giggled, holding his neck tightly, and said, "Just now, you were quite fierce. It hurt a bit to kiss."
Gu Yanjing kissed the tip of her nose and said, "Sorry, I missed you too much."
"It’s okay, I missed you too." Qiao Yuxian looked into his eyes.
Gu Yanjing also gazed at her, his usually cool eyes full of affection; after a pause, he asked, "How’s your body feeling? Do you feel better? I heard you threw up yesterday?"
"It’s nothing, just some car sickness. I feel much better." Qiao Yuxian said, "Don’t you think I look much more lively and energetic?"
"Yes, much more spirited." Gu Yanjing said.
"Shi Tan and Huang Qi discussed the medication for me; I’ve been recovering quickly these days." Qiao Yuxian said.
"That’s good then." Gu Yanjing seemed much relieved.
Qiao Yuxian cradled his face and rubbed it a bit.
Gu Yanjing smiled softly.
Qiao Yuxian also began to laugh.
The two held each other quietly for a while, neither saying a word.
Quietly savoring each other’s presence.
After some time, Gu Yanjing asked, "Were you crying just now?"
"No." Qiao Yuxian’s nose brushed against his.
"Why?" Gu Yanjing seemed unable to hear the word "no" and asked immediately.
Qiao Yuxian fell silent, looking at him.
Gu Yanjing said, "Because of Yan Ting?"
Qiao Yuxian’s expression tensed for a moment, then she leaned her head on his shoulder.
Gu Yanjing carried her over to sit on the couch nearby.
Qiao Yuxian sat on his lap, looking at him, her hand playing with the zipper on his clothes: "Why did you come so late?"
"I missed you." Gu Yanjing said, "And was a bit worried about you."
"Afraid I would be sad?" Qiao Yuxian asked.
"Yes." Gu Yanjing said, "Wanted to keep you company."
Qiao Yuxian felt a warmth in her heart, her eyes turning slightly moist again.
Gu Yanjing caressed her face gently.
Qiao Yuxian blinked away her tears, holding them back, saying, "Yan Ting... has been someone too important to me. On Yao Mountain Island, I didn’t want to suspect anyone, but it was him— and even Grandpa Nine, he could... How could he be so ruthless! That was the person who raised him."
Seeing her sadness, Gu Yanjing felt a pang of sorrow too. But he didn’t know how to help her.
Some things could only be slowly accepted over time.
Time can’t heal everything.
But people learn to accept things more resiliently.
"But why would he do this?" Qiao Yuxian’s voice turned hoarse, "Why are we on opposing sides."
"I found some information about his identity." Gu Yanjing said.
"What?" Qiao Yuxian asked.
"Qu Qingkong should be his biological grandfather." Gu Yanjing said.
Qiao Yuxian’s eyes widened in shock.
Gu Yanjing touched her face and mentioned, "We found some correspondence from Qu Qingkong’s base, written so cryptically, like he was threatening Yan Ting with his mother."
The content of those letters was so cryptic that if not carefully examined, it would seem like trivial chit-chat between friends.
When sorting things, they categorized it as useless.
But when reporting to Gu Yanjing, they mentioned the category as useless too.
Gu Yanjing, curious, had them send it over for a look and noticed the peculiarities inside.
Moreover, he found the handwriting on some replies familiar.
Back when Yan Ting went to Jin City, he was hospitalized from an injury.
While signing, the doctor saw Yan Ting write his name.
Although the handwriting in the letters was deliberately altered, Gu Yanjing immediately thought of Yan Ting.
Qiao Yuxian looked at Gu Yanjing in shock.
Gu Yanjing kissed her eyes gently and said, "Follow your heart. Deal with things the way you want. Your comfort is the priority. I will always stand by your side."
"Will you listen to whatever I say?" Qiao Yuxian asked softly.
Gu Yanjing said, "Yes. As long as you’re safe, I’ll listen to you."
