Chapter 43 – The Ice Lord’s Life (part 1)

No matter how much Bai Xi tried to ‘interrogate’ Feng Ming on the carriage, he didn’t respond and kept his eyes closed. Bai Xi leaned against the carriage wall, defeated, and muttered, “How could I promise to learn martial arts from you?”. She felt cheated. Was she mistaken?

“Because it’s me.”

Bai Xi was startled. She didn’t expect him to answer and found that he would always do something unexpected.

“You want to be stronger and I can help. It is that simple.” He looked at her.

“It’s that simple?” Was that really it”? She thought about it carefully, wondering if it was just that simple.

“Bai Xi.”

Bai Xi looked at him and waited for him to continue.

“You can choose now, but after the carriage stops, you won’t have a choice. You will need to listen to me until you have learned and can pass the test.” He glanced at the carriage curtain.

Bai Xi closed her eyes, as if thinking deeply about the matter. However, she raised her head a moment later and she had no doubts. “You are saying I should ‘honour the teacher and revere his teachings’? That’s understandable.” She just had to get stronger and Feng Ming just happened to appear at this time. Since he is willing to teach her and she is willing to learn, she shouldn’t squander his good will. As for other things, she would keep at it and slowly examine everything to determine the truth.

Feng Ming closed his eyes once again. The rest of the ride was quiet and peaceful. After the carriage stopped, Feng Ming gradually opened his eyes and hopped off the carriage.

“This is…” Bai Xi also hopped off. However, when she saw the shop in front of her, she was surprised. What kind of store was this? There was nothing in it. No, there was just no product to sell. There was only a chair, a table, and a single person – an old man.

“Young Miss Bai Xi, master will let Old Cao forge a weapon to your liking for you,” Qing Wu explained with a smile.

Bai Xi was stunned. “This is a weapon shop?”

“No, Old Cao and master haven an arrangement here. Except for Old Cao, nobody in the world knows where Old Cao forged his weapons. Every time Old Cao has met people, he would say that he wouldn’t make weapons for anyone. The sword by my side was only made because I have known Old Cao for two years. He wouldn’t have helped me otherwise. However, I heard that this time, when master asked, Old Cao agreed immediately.” Qing Wu’s eyes flashed with pride when he mentioned the sword in his hand.

“He didn’t want to be bothered by you before he completed the sword for you.” Bai Xi smiled shallowly. To be bothered for two years… It was strange that he wasn’t annoyed. She had to admit that the sword by Qing Wu’s side was a good one.

“Hehe.” Qing Wu touched the back of his head with a smirk.

Bai Xi walked into the shop, following the figure into the store. She couldn’t describe the feeling in her heart, but she felt that man was different from the legend.

“Is it her?”

Feng Ming didn’t answer verbally, but his expression informed him of his answer.

“Let me see… You obviously have questions.” Old Cao sighed. He should agree since his main objective was to see who could make this kid ask him to forge a weapon. As he didn’t see her, he was disappointed.

At this time, Bai Xi had walked into the store, just in time to hear Old Cao’s words. However, she pretended that she didn’t hear anything and kept her face devoid of any expression.

“Little girl, what kind of arrangement do you have with this kid?” Although this girl didn’t look very good, the woman who could make the dignified Feng family’s master notice her couldn’t be bad.

Before Bai Xi could digest the meaning of this sentence, she heard Feng Ming speak.

“You talk too much.”

Old Cao laughed. Although he had much more he wanted to ask, he sized up Bai Xi instead while nodding his head every so often as if he was satisfied.

Bai Xi was confused. Was she here to forge weapons or see this old man? And what was that old man insinuating? Did he misunderstand the relationship between her and Feng Ming? She saw the old man’s expression and it seemed like that was the case.

“Little girl, do you have a favourite weapon?”

Bai Xi was about to speak, but someone cut in.

“You’ve seen him. Remember my words.” Feng Ming turned around and walked out.

“Huh?” Qing Wu stared dumbfounded at his master who had left. It was over so quickly? Young Miss Bai Xi had yet to answer what weapon she wanted.”

“Little girl, I will make you an appropriate weapon. Don’t worry,” Old Cao said softly. He didn’t pay any attention to Feng Ming’s abrupt departure. Instead, it confirmed his guesses.

“Do you have to meet the person before you forge a weapon for them?” Did she sit in the carriage for half a day just for the sake of letting Old Cao take a look at her? And when she finally arrived, she didn’t even get to say anything before that person just took off. Was it really just for Old Cao to see her?

Old Cao didn’t expect Bai Xi to ask him this, so he was stunned for a while. “You can say that.”

“Okay.” Bai Xi turned around and left. Since it was like that, she would see if he could really forge a suitable weapon for her.

Old Cao shook his head and sighed. He grumbled, “Youngsters these days don’t know how to respect their elders.”

“Old Cao, I am still here?” Qing Wu was about to leave but heard Old Cao’s complaint.

“Forget it, go be the driver.” At the sight of Qing Wu, Old Cao’s expression changed a little. He ordered for the guests to leave and then vanished into the store, scaring Qing Wu.

“Old Cao is really heartless.” Qing Wu went to catch up with the carriage.

When he got on the carriage and was about to drive it back to the house, he heard the voice of his master coming from the carriage. “Tonight, you need to prepare. From tomorrow, you will be following me.”
