The Invincible Full-Moon System-Chapter 1522: Kei Xun (2)
Rex sweated a little.
He was worried.
Not only because Kei Xun was a lot stronger than him—or the fact that she was not even among the strongest, but also because this whole entire situation was new for him. In the Mortal Realm, whenever two entities at the height of power met, it would always end in a fight.
Or at least, that was certain during their very first exchange.
It has always been a battle to the death for him.
So the fact that Kei Xun was doing this was unsettling, and she did it with passion, too.
"No…?" Kei Xun interrupted, taking Rex's silence as defiance instead of confusion or disbelief. "Do you still not get it? Was it because you're weakened? Not in full power—because of your little scuffle with that favored Voidal Knight? Okay, let's fix that."
Swoosh!
Overbearingly, Kei Xun channeled her life energy and shot it into Rex's body.
Upon impact, there was no pain.
Rex could feel her power spread through him instead, reaching every corner of his body.
His Soul Artifacts were being rejuvenated, replenished from their lost life energy.
In an instant, Kei Xun recovered his strength as if it were not a big deal.
"Now you're in full power. Hmm, is there anything else?" Her eyes traced Rex up and down, checking whether there were any more excuses that Rex could use to deny reality, instead of accepting it. "Oh, the Black Rain… I can also fix that for you."
Pointing her index finger upwards, she fired another beam of sunlight.
Rex watched as the beam flew upward and pierced the dark clouds, disappearing from sight.
Then, something incredible happened.
Rumble!
Splash!
Before his very eyes, the clouds churned and twisted like a vortex—creating several thundering sounds that were akin to a Dragon's mighty roar of domination. Then, at the center of it all, the entire sky was cleared from the voidal clouds, cleared from the Black Rift.
At one moment, it was pouring hard.
And in the next moment, the rain stopped instantly.
Based on the System, the Black Rain was usually naturally occurring or summoned by a monster of a higher rank, a Voidal Prince or a Voidal Monarch. However, despite that, it doesn't amount to anything for Kei Xun.
Her power was so immense that she cleared the Black Rain as if it were nothing.
"Now," She continued, looking at Rex. "No more excuses. Try and resist me, child…"
Rex was about to say something, but a cold wind brushed past him again.
For the second time, his arm was severed.
But this time, Kei Xun didn't stop there—she severed his other arm and drilled a hole into Rex's belly with a simple beam. Once again, Rex couldn't react, she was way too fast. It didn't matter if he was a Werewolf with heightened senses.
No chance he could keep up with her movements.
"Ready to admit it?" Kei Xun asked, but quickly continued. "No? Then let's continue."
Once again, Rex was healed back to normal.
Almost instantly, he summoned all three of his Soul Artifacts and prepared to retaliate.
Just why is she doing this to me? Why is she so adamant to make me forfeit the title of Scion? Is it due to feeling threatened by my growth… by my presence? No, that doesn't add up. If she truly saw me as a threat, she could've eliminated me outright. As a Scion, removing competition through bloodshed is the surest way.
So then… why this? What is her reason for doing this?
Rex didn't know the reason behind her insistence, but he knew he couldn't afford to forfeit.
A severe punishment was waiting for him if she did.
His answer was clear, so regardless of Kei Xun's reason, he has to defend himself right now.
"Are you ready?" Kei Xun asked.
Rex didn't answer in words.
He only raised his hands and placed the Aegis of Moon Sentinel in front of him.
Nodding firmly, Kei Xun raised her index finger and charged it again, intending to fire another beam.
Rex knew what she was going to do, and he also knew how fast the beam was, but this time, he was ready. His senses were heightened to the maximum, narrowing his focus solely on Kei Xun's lethal index finger.
In the next second, the beam was finally fired.
A brilliant, thick string of sunlight energy.
Seeing the beam, everything slowed down in Rex's vision.
I can intercept it with my Inevitable Death Spirit Genesis. I'm sure I can match its power, I'm sure!
Hastily, Rex channeled his life energy and used the Inevitable Death.
But then, he realized something shocking.
I… I can't move?!
Rex was flabbergasted—he could see and feel the beam coming towards him, but he couldn't move.
His body was suppressed completely by the energy radiating from the beam.
Even the Law of Inevitability's power couldn't fight back.
Bang!
"Arrghh…" Rex clutched his chest as the beam pierced him and forced him to take a knee.
He really has no chance against Kei Xun.
"I'm expecting more from you, child," Kei Xun commented with a pitying tone, finding Rex once again falling to his knees. "If you only amount to this much, then there's no point in participating in the race. What is your Invincibility Trigger? Oh, right, you're still not even at the first stage yet."
"Hatred fuels your other half—so what, then, is the spark that ignites your power?" She continued.
Upon hearing this, Rex gritted his teeth and answered, "I don't know."
However, unconsciously, his eyes darted to the Forsaken Tower, albeit only briefly.
It was only a glance, but that told Kei Xun what she needed.
"Hmm, I think you know exactly what it is…" She mumbled and glanced over to the Forsaken Tower.
Crash!
Suddenly, a loud crashing sound resounded when Kei Xun reached out her hand to the side.
Rex's pupils trembled, and his breath caught in his throat when he saw that the crashing sound came from the Forsaken Tower. Its rooftop was shattered—the barrier that was trapping April, Crimoria, and Linthia was taken down easily by Kei Xun.
Then, to his surprise, all three were pulled out by Kei Xun's power.
"Wha-What are you doing?" Rex stuttered, gulping harshly at the possibility.
Kei Xun raised a brow, "I want to help you exert your strongest, so you can accept reality as it is."
Shing!
Soon, Linthia, Crimoria, and April were suspended in the air beside them, hung by their hands overhead that were tied together. None of them could break free from the restraint—Kei Xun's power held all of them tightly.
"Divine Saintess, release us!" Crimoria demanded. "Why are you doing this to us? To him?"
"Rex, I'm fine, don't worry about me!" Linthia exclaimed, assuringly. "I can take this!"
Upon hearing this, his berserk stat that had dropped began to climb again.
"Stop this!" Rex roared, both his eyes glowing red. "Don't bring them into this!"
"Hmm, why? From the way I see it—involving them is working," Kei Xun answered.
Even when she hadn't done anything to these three, Rex's power was already climbing noticeably.
"They are from the Aurelius House!" Rex argued, their background was the only thing he could rely on right now. He was hoping that, though she was a Scion, the Marquess could still pose a threat to her. "If you kill any of them, the Marquess would come after you."
"Nothing you do can change my mind!" He added, trying to convince Kei Xun to drop this.
But what it did was the opposite.
"I highly… highly doubt that," She muttered and flexed her hand.
Swish!
Just then, Crimoria's eyes widened when the sunlight began to swallow her entire body whole.
She tried to speak, but stopped when she noticed something.
Looking down at her body, her pupils dilated when she saw her legs—starting from her feet, were beginning to get vaporized by the sunlight, turned into golden ashes. She did not feel anything, nothing.
Despite her body being turned to ash, she didn't feel a single thing, not even pain.
However, this made her feel even worse.
She was clearly dying, yet she couldn't feel anything, and there was no stopping it.
Crimoria lifted her gaze to look at Rex, "Lord Rex…?"
As soon as those words came out of her lips, Crimora was vaporized.
Her remains were swept away by the wind.
Realizing that Crimoria was killed, Rex sucked in a cold breath, he couldn't believe that Kei Xun really killed her. She was a Dame from the House of Aurelius, and even then—Kei Xun didn't hesitate even a little bit to kill her.
Slowly, Rex's gaze trailed down to the ground—he was shocked!
He wasn't that close with Crimoria, so there wasn't really much sadness involved.
But he did cultivate a relationship with her, a friendly relationship, so it was still something.
Now she was dead.
Killed easily as if she were a fly.
I… I have a chance… The System didn't teleport me out, so I must have a chance in stopping her.
But how…? Sacrificing all Nightfall Stars? Letting my anger take over again?
How…? HOW?!!
No matter how hard Rex contemplated it, he couldn't think of anything.
He didn't know how he could overpower Kei Xun and stop her.
Just then, before he could even recover from Crimoria's death, another yelp resounded.
Upon hearing the familiarity of the voice. Rex's gaze shot up, and he saw Kei Xun was now holding the one he cared for the most out of the three, Linthia. Almost instantly, the shock and confusion vanished like smoke being blown by the wind.
Rex's entire body shivered as an unnatural eruption of anger swelled inside of him.
Crack!
A violent gush of life energy sizzled out from his body, cracking the ground beneath his feet.
"Let her go," Rex said, his tone barely covering his boiling anger.
Seeing the change within him—and the surge of power, Kei Xun smiled, "To protect… so that is your spark all along, to protect. Fascinating. I've never known a Scion with that kind of drive. Usually, their drive involved selfish desires."
Then, Kei Xun tilted her head, "But, what do you hope to achieve with that meager power?"
"GRAARGH!!"
Instead of stopping, she reached out her hand and grabbed something intangible from within Linthia.
At first, Rex thought that it was her soul, but it wasn't.
<Notice: Linthia, one of the user's kingdom's captains, is in trouble!>
<Her Soul Artifact is being extracted!>
<Be advised, losing the Soul Artifact would put Linthia in a very compromising situation!>
Viciously, Kei Xun's fingers grabbed Linthia's Soul Artifact as if it were something tangible— even though it wasn't summoned. Rapidly, the Soul Artifact that had taken the shape of pale strands of energy was pulled out and absorbed by her fingers.
Seeing this, Rex's heart skipped a beat.
He gazed ahead with wide eyes and faced the haunting scene directly.
Both his eyes were locked onto Kei Xun, who wore a neutral face with Linthia screaming beside her.
At such a sight, Rex's eyes blurred and focused repeatedly.
It happened several times until Kei Xun's form morphed, turning into something else entirely.
Gone is her priestess outfit that glitters with the aesthetic of a royal, along with her brilliant sunlight energy that made looking at her hard. Now, she transformed into a monster that stood on hind legs, baring sharp fangs that could tear flesh and bones alike, as well as dark furs that coated her entire body.
A Werewolf.
For the longest time, his nightmare returned.
But this time, he didn't feel any hatred towards the Werewolf.
Instead, he felt an unbearable dread gripping him so tightly that it made his entire body feel weak.
I really hate this feeling.
Even though he knew that this was an illusion, the effect it brought was real.
Rex's expression instantly darkened as he hovered over his Inventory, searching for an item.
Then, he finally found it and wasted no time clicking the item.
<Does the user want to use the invincible II item?>
"Yes, use it."
