562 Goodbye-The bodyguard’s head walked towards him to see his situation. He saw Javier kneeling on the ground and had just now hung up the phone. Their boss looked devastated since they all learned that the victims of this accident were no one else but their Madam and their youngest daughter.

However, holding all the courage in him, the bodyguard head came forward to talk to his boss, “Officers are calling you, sir, to identify the bodies. They are burnt and are almost skeletons. But they still want you to see and check once whether it is your car and inside them were..” he didn’t dare to complete the words.

Javier did not respond. He stayed still without blinking his eyes. His eyes showed no tears but he was exhausted. His soul had left his heart till now.

“Boss…” the bodyguard head once again asked for permission and Javier somehow nodded his head. Without speaking, he stood on his legs to lead in the way where the officers were standing. Till now his eyes caught the sight that the car was already on the surface and the bodies laid on the stretchers covered with a cloth.

Even though he was suspicious, he wanted to be comforted about a few things. The suspicion lay down deeply and he came to see the car number. It did match what he had. Then his eyes traced to look inside the burnt car to see a small sign that hung around the rear mirror. It confirmed his half-horror.

“T-this c-car is m-m-mine..” Javier mumbled under his breath but the officers understood. The grief that the man suffered has caused his mind to be disturbed. “We ask you to please go ahead and look at the dead bodies now. They are right there.”

Javier took a deep breath to control his sentiments. He took a deep breath to not let himself slip away and walked to the other end.

One of the officers pulled the white cover down and what came into his sight was nothing but a burnt body. It was almost impossible to know whose skeleton was this. However, his next gaze pulled the harsh reality in front of him.

“T-this bracelet..” it had burnt from the edges but nothing could hide a gemstone inside it. This was something he himself gifted her when she gave birth to the children. It was special. When he realized what the skeleton was wearing.. it turned out exactly what he imagined.

.....

With tender care, Javier took the bracelet out from the dead body to gaze at it for some time. His eyes couldn’t be removed from it no matter how much he tried since this was something that was considered the last property of his love.. something he could at least hold on to, unlike those skeletons.

“Sir, is this your wife only?” The officer asked him again and Javier finally gave a soft nod without letting tears escape his eyes. Then he heard the officers say, “As per our records, the accident happened thirty minutes before we came here. The car started to burn after ten minutes of falling down. The person inside has died and this is the only body found.”

Hearing this, Javier frowned. Despite his despondency, he moved his head to look at the officer, “Only one person?”

“Yes sir, only one body is found in the driving seat. Although there is a child seat as well in the car there is no child inside as per what your guards described.” Javier felt abnormal in this. He had heard Lisa’s sobs. How is it possible for only Jennifer to die, where is his daughter?

While he was still not able to find anyone, his heartbeat stopped when he realized something and the officer said the same, “It is possible the child fell in the forest when the car went down because of the broken doors of the cars. It wouldn’t have been possible for Mrs. Johnson to hold the car and child together.”

“Our groups and your guards have decided to take a turn in the forest by helicopter but please don’t keep your hopes high.” With this, the officer left Javier alone with the dead body.

At this time, Javier finally shifted his eyes to find the burnt body again. He clutched the bracelet in his hand and his other hand was kept on the burnt body’s hand. He held it, but his heart didn’t skip a beat and neither did fear crawling anymore.

But there was no denying that this was his wife.. Jennifer Johnsons..

“Why did you leave me so soon?” He couldn’t answer but his hoarse voice only sounded broken. “I told you to follow the lead… you didn’t Jennifer.. why?!? Why did you leave us so soon? When everything was finally getting on track.” A sigh escaped his lips but not a cry. 𝒇𝗿𝙚ℯ𝑤ℯ𝑏𝒏𝑜ѵe𝙡.c𝐨m

He couldn’t cry. He can’t. He was feeling nothing but numbness. The thought of him and his daughter, Ariana, being alone to face the world was shattering. He didn’t want to survive but he had to, he has a daughter to raise.

Emotions played no role on his face here as he had no such idea how to react. What should he do? How should he live in this cruel world? He had so much to say to her. So much to live and experience with her. But here she was, gone from his life forever.

Only blame landed in his heart. Javier couldn’t help but blame himself for the loss to him. Not if because of his carelessness and past, his daughter lost her life and his one daughter is now motherless.. this wasn’t the life he wanted to live at any cost!

Clutching the bracelet with a much firm grip, he mumbled under his breath to show his undefined apology, “I’m sorry Jennifer… our love story couldn’t have a perfect end. I’m sorry, my love.”
