Chapter 1580: Chapter 1592: Rescue (

The police ignored his explanations, knowing that since he could contact the kidnappers, he could naturally trace them! Consequently, the police took control of Cheng Wanli, making him talk to Franz to lure him out.

Franz was also very cunning, never showing up himself. He only sent a small lackey. When it was time to withdraw the money, the police swarmed in to stop him and then used this lead to continue investigating the related personnel.

That was something for later. When Jian Anning and Situ Xuan escaped from the cabin, they both realized they had to flee quickly, or they would be in danger!

By then, the snowstorm had already intensified, and as they were on foot, Situ Xuan vaguely knew that the group wanted to cross the Alps to reach Italy, to descend the mountain path from the other side. Situ Xuan had some counter-surveillance awareness. As he walked, he took a branch, tied it with the rope that had just bound their waists, and strapped it behind him. As they walked, the branch and leaves would erase their footprints.

With the heavy snowfall, as long as those people discovered it late, they wouldn’t know where they had escaped to!

Their plan was quite good, however, when it came to actual execution, they faced challenges. Jian Anning, being a woman, lacked strength and couldn’t keep up, while Situ Xuan had just been brutally beaten. His body had already suffered once from Yu Zexiao’s assault and was quite weak. Now, having endured such violence again, his whole body felt out of breath.

As he ran, he felt like his entire body was about to fall apart, especially his abdomen, which ached excruciatingly!

Situ Xuan constantly pressed on his painful area. He roughly knew that perhaps the spleen, ruptured from the previous beating, had cracked again! But staying was not an option for him—staying meant waiting for death. Besides, if he stayed by Jian Anning’s side, even if those people came charging in, at least... he could buy her a little time to escape.

Both of them dared not take the main road, fearing capture, and only dared to take the forest path. They wound through the mountain trails, uncertain of how long they had walked. Despite wearing high boots, Jian Anning found them soaked with snow, the melted water seeping into her boots, making them wet and cold. She gritted her teeth, not daring to say much, heading only downhill!

Meanwhile, Franz and his men returned to the cabin with plenty of supplies. With the heavy snowfall sealing off the mountain, even they dared not cross the Alps in such harsh weather, fearing avalanches!

Upon returning, they found the three guards sprawled carelessly. In such cold weather, the small cabin naturally lacked heating, and even if they made a fire, they couldn’t make it too big for fear of being discovered, resorting only to drinking to keep warm.

Seeing these three knocked out drunk, Franz cursed them twice, put down the supplies, and checked near the cabin. As expected, the rope was untied, the cabin had a hole, and the people were gone!

Franz was furious and, without a word, took a big metal bucket full of ice water and poured it over them with a "splash"!

The icy drench jolted the three awake. Upon waking and turning their heads, they found the cabin empty—their "easy prey" had escaped. Anger was useless; Franz had his own tricks up his sleeve.

How can one survive in such a place without keeping dogs?
