Chapter 1597: Chapter 1610: A New Path (Part 4)

"What do you mean ’don’t need anything’?" Yu Zexiao looked at her expression that seemed to think he was a bit "over the top," and his heart instantly bloomed with joy. That’s right, since Situ Xuan wanted to use gratitude to bind Jian Anning, then he had to do even more to outdo Situ Xuan! Moreover, he could render Situ Xuan speechless and make Jian Anning’s feeling of guilt toward him diminish, becoming lesser and weaker.

"It’s nothing, let’s go." Jian Anning held his hand, leading him out of the shopping center. Just as they were about to leave, Yu Zexiao said with a serious face, "Let’s come back tomorrow. Time is too tight today, and we don’t even know what gift would be suitable to buy. We’ll come back tomorrow with better ideas to buy something better for him."

"No, there’s no need, right?" Jian Anning felt a bit guilty, while Yu Zexiao nodded and said, "Why not? It’s a must. I’m your boyfriend, right? Of course, I should do these things for you."

In one sentence, he reminded her that he was merely her "boyfriend," not her "husband!"

Jian Anning apparently understood his intention, feeling grateful and even more guilty while doing so.

The two of them arrived at the ordinary ward, where quite a few of Situ Xuan’s subordinates were gathered at the entrance. As they pushed the door open, Yu Jiayi, who had been reporting by Situ Xuan’s bedside, stood up.

Situ Xuan’s face was pale, his entire face seemed extremely ashen. When he saw Jian Anning, his eyes instantly brightened: "Anning."

"Situ Xuan." Jian Anning’s voice was slightly hoarse, and after a long moment, she said, "Are you feeling any better?"

Situ Xuan’s pale face showed a subtle smile: "Much better."

That expression clearly indicated he was in pain, yet it seemed as if having her by his side made him feel significantly better.

Just as the two were about to talk, Yu Zexiao sat aside in a very familiar manner. First, he lifted the bag in his hand, "Axuan, this is a little token of gratitude from Anning and me, thanking you for saving her life."

Upon hearing Yu Zexiao affectionately call him "Axuan," Situ Xuan nearly choked. Even Jian Anning stared wide-eyed in surprise, only to see Yu Zexiao beside her smiling sincerely:

"We got you a watch, do you like it? This watch is too cheap, only three thousand Euros, it doesn’t fully express the value of you saving Anning. But it’s okay, we’ll continue to visit you tomorrow."

Situ Xuan coughed twice, and Yu Zexiao quickly followed up: "If there’s anything wrong, don’t hesitate to tell me. I’m really grateful for you saving Anning, though you took her away at first, if you hadn’t been there in the end, Anning would have been in trouble too. I truly am quite amazed, thank you."

In one sentence, he was saying that if it weren’t for his intervening, Jian Anning wouldn’t have been in danger.

Situ Xuan couldn’t possibly not understand this? Perhaps due to excessive blood loss, or maybe he simply didn’t care about Yu Zexiao’s remarks, his face remained pale, his expression quite calm, as if he hadn’t taken his words to heart, merely keeping his eyes on Jian Anning.

Yet, Yu Zexiao didn’t give Jian Anning a chance to respond. He very casually plopped himself beside the bed, blocking Jian Anning behind him, then clapped Situ Xuan’s shoulder in a friendly manner, grinning, adopting the posture of a close buddy:
