The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 222: Return to the palace (1)
Chapter 222: Return to the palace (1)
Hazel was awoken by the sound of someone flipping the pages of a book. She couldn’t feel Tobias’s arm around her and feared that he might have left her so she sat up to look for him only to find he was the one making the noise.
"Did I wake you? These pages keep making too much noise. I will stop," Tobias said, closing the large book.
"You don’t need to stop. What time is it?" Hazel asked. There was still daylight creeping through the window so she hadn’t slept till night.
"I don’t know," Tobias said, realising how much he had lost track of time. "I will find out for you. It’s time that you eat something."
"Just wait. You don’t have to leave. Tobias, why did you create a mess with your books again? You can’t treat them this way," Hazel said, horrified by the mess Tobias created. ’Would it hurt you to be tidy with your work?"
Tobias looked around at what he thought to be organised. "Everything is where I need it to be. There is no mess."
Hazel sighed, once again having the thought to school him about taking care of books. "This is a mess. My mother must not have come in here to see this. You are lucky that I am too tired to move."
"Lucky me. I will be done shortly and then put all of this away. Your mother has come in since I woke and didn’t say a word about the books. I should take that as she likes me to ignore the mess, right?" Tobias asked.
"Or maybe she is more concerned about me," Hazel answered. "Don’t pout. My parents already like you and I am sure they like you more after staying here with me. I don’t mind if you have to return to the palace, Tobias. I am fine in my parent’s care."
"I don’t need to return yet," Tobias replied, hoping Hazel wasn’t looking to send him away just yet. He made plans to spend the night here.
"I would love if you could stay with me here and not return to the palace, but I think we might spark suspicion if you spend all day here. After dinner, you should return to the palace and then come to me tomorrow. You mustn’t be late," Hazel warned.
"Or what? Will you not allow me inside this room?" Tobias questioned, setting his work to the side to go to Hazel.
"I will do that and much more. I will find the strength to personally throw you out of this room. Is Kenneth still here?" Hazel asked, shifting her body to look at the door.
"He hasn’t left other than to bring me here. He isn’t accepting anything for what he has done for you. I will still find something to show how much we appreciate him. How are you feeling now? Hungry?" Tobias asked, taking hold of her right left hand.
"I feel better than I was a few hours ago. The doctor said that I would feel better after sleeping but I am to remain in bed and not do anything intimate for a few days. It is strange to think the doctor must warn someone to wait before trying again. How some might not have time to rest," Hazel said.
Hazel was able to see how lucky she was that everyone wanted to rest and her husband wasn’t some impatient bastard to climb on top of her to try again. Then her bad thoughts went away and she wasn’t thinking of trying again soon.
"Not everyone has a partner that puts them first. I will get something for you to eat and drink Would you like if I was the one to cook for you?"
Hazel nervously laughed as she knew that just like herself, Tobias wouldn’t be a good cook. "I think we should let the cook do it. I will miss you too much if you go to cook."
"You’re still an awful liar but you are good with the sweet talk. I will inform the cook to make something you like and tell your family you are awake. Unless you don’t want to be disturbed yet?" Tobias asked as she might want to avoid questions.
"If anyone wants to come in, send them in. I don’t mind," Hazel replied.
Hazel was finally at a point where she could speak and not be lost in her emotions. Her family was worried about her and knowing them, they were crying all day as though they were the ones to lose the baby.
Tobias kissed Hazel for a short goodbye and then got up from the bed to get what she needed. "You are the first person to have the king act as a maid. Try to enjoy it."
"Then, would my maid be so kind as to bring me a book? Thank you," Hazel said, laughing at his expression.
Hazel didn’t enjoy being alone in the room the second Tobias walked out the door. It seemed like she was only fine with him around and was still stuck in a terrible place. The sleep had only made her body feel better but it was her mind that needed to heal.
Hazel closed her eyes, trying to sleep a little longer until someone would come in to see her. She wouldn’t mind if her family would do like when she was younger and there was a storm to share the same bed.
Not long after, a knock on the door was heard and Hazel welcomed the person in.
"Helena," Hazel greeted her sister. "Did Tobias give you the task of bringing me books?"
"No, I had them put to the side for when you woke up. Since you have to stay in bed, I thought you would like to have something to do and what else would make you happy? I heard that you are going to be fine. Will you?" Helena asked, needing to hear it from Hazel.
"I am fine. Do you plan to stand by the door while you speak to me? You can come closer. The bed was cleaned thanks to mother and a miscarriage is not something I can pass onto you," said Hazel. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"Oh, right," Helena said, closing the door and then walking over to the bed. "I didn’t think it was something you could pass on to me but it scares me. I don’t mean to make this about me but what if-"
"Just because it happened to me doesn’t mean it will happen to you, Helena. Do not put that thought in your head especially now when the wedding planning should have you happy," Hazel said, regretting that she spoiled Helena’s plans.
"It is not that. I was thinking of how the king reacted to all of this and as I am getting married, what if this happens to me and my husband doesn’t take it well? I know he loves me but is it this much? What do I do if his relatives get upset that I lose a baby? I just,’ Helena touched her chest, trying to calm her heart.
"Helena, you have nothing to fear. The man you described sounds like he would be understanding and again, this might never happen to you. I feel terrible for putting such a bad thought in your head when you are soon to wed. You can share your fears with him and go from there," Hazel advised Helena.
"Right," Helena nodded her head. "I can just talk about it. I hope this never happens to you again. I just don’t believe it was your doing. That palace is an awful place and anyone there could be out to get you. Please be more careful from now on. Get rid of everyone you don’t think you can trust. It is better to be safe than sorry."
"I already plan to do that when I return," Hazel revealed.
