The Kitty Became a Cutie and Was Pampered in the 80s-Chapter 795 I’m Your Uncle (3)_1
Chapter 795: Chapter 795 I’m Your Uncle (3)_1
Xiu Jianhong’s wife, Hu Yun, was a smart woman who was slightly overweight. After finishing a mouthful of food, she saw Ruan Jiaojiao passing by her doorstep and her eyes lit up instantly.
She greeted warmly, "Jiaojiao, have you eaten?"
"Auntie Hu, not yet," Ruan Jiaojiao replied, taking the opportunity to step up towards the courtyard of Hu’s house.
Seeing her coming, Hu Yun immediately got up and brought out two stools from inside the house: "Haven’t eaten yet? Would you like to have something at Auntie Hu’s? It’s just that the dishes aren’t very sophisticated; I’m afraid you might not like them."
The Ruan Family was now the best-developed household in the village, even among the wealthiest in the whole town. Anyone with a bit of sense wouldn’t choose to cross the Ruan Family.
As a smart woman, Hu Yun naturally wouldn’t do that. Knowing how much Ruan Jiaojiao was pampered at the Ruan household, she always showered her with praise whenever she saw her, spouting all kinds of nice words candidly.
"No, I’ll eat when I get home. I’m just out for a walk with my uncle," Ruan Jiaojiao explained.
Jiang Bin’s attire made it obvious he was no ordinary person, and Hu Yun dared not neglect him. She refrained from staring too much and when she moved the stool for him, she wiped it over and over with her sleeve before offering it timidly: "Please, take a seat."
Jiang Bin smiled without saying much, his gaze sweeping over the little boy next to him a couple of times.
The little boy was over five years old and not very tall, dressed in the latest popular tracksuit with foot stirrups, bowing his head and eating. The Xiu Family’s meals were simple, but his bowl contained a stir-fried egg, probably added especially for him.
In the past half-month, Jiang Bin had researched the Xiu Family; according to Principal Lu, Xiu Xun was like unpaid labor in the household and didn’t have it easy.
Yet, Jiang Bin was still grateful to them.
Without them, Xiu Xun might not have been able to grow up, and as for treating an adopted son worse after having their own child, although Jiang Bin felt somewhat sorry for his nephew, he had no place to criticize this family.
At the very least, they had provided him shelter and raised him. When the time came to take Xiu Xun away, he would offer the family a generous reward as thanks for their kind treatment of Xiu Xun over the years.
While Hu Yun was fetching the stools, Xiu Jianhong also went inside to get his treasured cigarettes and handed an opened pack to Jiang Bin.
Jiang Bin declined with a smile: "Thank you, but I don’t smoke."
"Oh, you don’t smoke. Then, please keep it," Hu Yun said next to him, her voice restrained. After saying this, she wasn’t sure what else to say and could only turn to chat with Ruan Jiaojiao.
She caught onto Ruan Jiaojiao and proceeded to lavish her with praise, which made Jiaojiao feel incredibly awkward. To give Jiang Bin more time to observe the Xiu household, she had to endure it—it was indeed a hardship.
Over the past few years, Xiahe Village had improved a lot compared to the previous years, with many households building new bungalows, but the Xiu Family still lived in a mudbrick house. The kitchen was separate from the main house, which was small and dilapidated, with straw over the roof and half a mountain of firewood piled chaotically beneath the eaves, appearing quite unkempt.
The main house had two doors, but the openly accessible hall had no door; instead, it was bare and stored numerous farm tools. Next to the hall, there should be an entrance to a room, but it was too dark to see anything within, just an indistinct darkness.
Between the kitchen and the main house, several beams were put up, covered with oil-painted tarp, beneath which a lot of lumber was neatly arranged, probably because it was essential for family meals.
