The Lady's Butler: I Reincarnated To Serve The Villainess-Chapter 46: The Academy’s Test [Final]
BOOM!
So much for not embarrassing him in front of his lady.
Adrian resisted the urge to face palm, only because it was an action inappropriate for a butler, as he watched his clones get easily dispelled.
Yes, he understood that they were mostly D-ranks, but they hadn’t even been useful as distractions.
Well, almost all of them had been useless, except one.
The moment Adrian had teleported away from the attacking Stags, it had also done the same, unlike the two others.
You see, the [Shadow clones] skill created a copy of Adrian, including his all abilities, although a lot weaker.
Which was how the clone was able to use his ability.
The only downside to this is the fact that all its abilities drew from the original’s mana, fortunately, Adrian had enough of it to not worry.
"Let’s try this again," he said as he lifted his hand into the air.
The moment he did, the Stags also made their move, two of the four vanished, reappearing from opposite sides, their antlers crackling as they aimed to skewer him from both flanks.
The third and forth seemingly charging some type of attack, but Adrian couldn’t pay them any mind right now, as he had to focus on these two.
One of the two suddenly made a move, rushing towards him with lightning enveloping its entire body, but just before it could reach him, Adrian switched places with his clone.
BOOM!
The creature’s antlers immediately hit the clone sending enough lighting into it to completely multiple bears, causing the clone to melt into a pool of electrically charged shadow, seemingly as useless as the other two.
But the ground beneath the stag erupting a split second later as countless black spikes shot upward.
BANG!
The beast was launched into the air and before it could regain its balance, its body was pierced in multiple places before dissolving into motes of light.
"That’s one down," Adrian said, but he didn’t let his guard down in the slightest.
The second stag attacked soon after, dashing towards the position where Adrian had reappeared, moving too fast for the eyes to track.
The next second, it was suddenly in front of him, no, it wasn’t the stag itself that was before him, and Adrian a moment too late.
BOOM!
The lightning decoy created by the second stag’s fast movements suddenly detonated the moment it reached him.
The explosion didn’t spread out, instead, it formed a sphere around Adrian, focusing all impact at the center where he was.
Renelle almost stood up, her worry visible for a second, that is, until she recalled that this was an illusion that would stop the moment the candidate was badly harmed.
Still, the pain felt would actually feel real, so she was a bit worried.
The lightning sphere suddenly faded, revealing a large crater created due to the explosion.
At the center of the crater, a sphere of condensed shadow ball had been formed, rotating slowly as arcs of lightning crawled across its surface, unable to penetrate.
A second later, it collapsed inward, and Adrian stepped out of it, completely unharmed, brushing a speck of dust off his sleeve.
"...Clever," he admitted, glancing toward where the second stag had repositioned itself.
The damn things were smart enough to only have been using a single type of attack, only to try and catch him off guard.
Headmistress Evelina on the other hand, had a grin on her face, her red eyes glowing a bit as she saw everything that had just transpired in great detail.
Adrian had indeed been caught off guard as the lightning decoy exploded, but within the briefest of moments, he had managed to encase himself in the ball of shadow.
A reaction speed that even some in C-Rank were incapable of.
Even the stag seemed a bit confused, but the consequences of its momentary distraction immediately came in the form of Adrian’s shadow below it.
The shadow reshaped itself into a spike and rose from the ground, cleanly piercing through the stag and creating multiple other spiked branches.
The stag, just as the first, dissolved into motes of light, disappearing completely.
’Two left,’ he thought as he slowly turned around, but the moment he did...
BOOM!
Another explosion of lightning struck where he stood again, this one a lot stronger than the last, but he was prepared.
After all, he had noticed that the two stags were charging an attack since earlier, so the moment he had the crackling of lightning, he immediately encased himself in the condensed shadow again.
Lightning crashed into it from both directions, the force tearing through the outer layers of the shadow barrier that encased him.
Fortunately, the attack was soon withdrawn just before it could reach him, as the Stags seemed to have run out of juice for their charged attack.
He exhaled softly as he released the barrier and stepped out, feeling a bit of static flowing through his body.
"...I suppose I should stop playing around," Adrian muttered as he looked at the two stags that had attacked earlier.
The two that had attacked earlier were some form of distraction as these two charged a devastating attack, and it was indeed devastating.
If that attack hit him, he wasn’t confident in coming out unscathed, he’d have probably lost.
Fortunately for him, [Shadow Manipulation] was a lot more versatile, allowing him to wrap himself in a shield and then form more layers of protection from those shadows.
"What now?" Adrian asked as he approached the beasts, "your surprise attack failed and I’m guessing you barely have any mana left."
In response to his taunt, the Stags charged up lightning between their antlers again, using whatever little mana they had.
But he wasn’t about to let them.
Adrian suddenly disappeared before they could launch their attacks, reappearing behind them.
Due to their lack of mana, the beasts’ reactions were slow, so before they could fully turn around, their very own shadows beneath the stretched and full enveloped them, causing them to struggle.
"You won’t escape that," he said calmly and the next second, he clenched his fist.
The Stags went completely still as they became motes of light, causing the shadow to drop and fade.
Adrian then readjusted his uniform, ensuring that there wasn’t a single spec of dust on it before finally turning towards Renelle and headmistress Evelina.
"I hope my performance was entertaining enough," he said with a smile as he lightly bowed.
But just before the two could respond,
BOOM!
Something seemed to crash into the arena, right behind Adrian, causing him to turn around.
Before the dust kicked up could clear up, a voice came through,
"Fight me next!"
