Chapter 844: Chapter 461 Assassination of the Queen_2

After figuring this out, Rod’s steps held no hesitation whatsoever, skillfully navigating the dark sewer as if it were his own backyard.

He was decisive at every fork, even though he didn’t know what lay ahead. In his mind, he had already constructed a three-dimensional map of Starry Sky City’s sewers, and as long as half of this map was completed, the rest would naturally fill itself in.

Rod’s mind was intensely focused, while the Book of Knowledge excitedly shouted in his mind, "Divinity, Divinity!" He paid no heed to it, nor to the scorching gaze piercing from behind.

All he wanted was to walk out of this sewer.

There weren’t many monsters in the sewer, and any that appeared were exterminated in the blink of an eye.

Archbishop Horus never stopped ringing the Silence Bell in his hand, suppressing any disturbances to the minimum.

Halfway through, Rod discovered that the other side had collapsed. He turned and saw that many parts of the sewer were in a state of disrepair.

Horus said, "The terrain formed a thousand years ago is tied to Starry Sky City’s barrier and solidified by Spiritual Energy; we cannot break it."

Yet this posed no great difficulty for Rod, who, relying on his absolute knowledge of the sewer, zigzagged up from the bottommost layer.

The deep disturbance of Spiritual Energy became increasingly clear, occasionally swept by powerful waves like a typhoon.

Liszt suddenly said, "We have reached the upper layer; I can distinctly sense the internal turmoil of Starry Sky City, consistent with our earlier sensations outside, just more pronounced and detailed."

"Sir Rod, we cannot proceed up any further."

Rod immediately halted his steps, "What do we do now?"

Liszt said solemnly, "The spatial fracture inside Starry Sky City has worsened severely. According to the echo detection of Spiritual Energy, vast spatial rifts have sliced Starry Sky City into dozens of parts, hard to cross and weakening Spiritual Energy waves in the process. So, we need not clear the entire city, only the area close to the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground."

Horus gathered everyone together and spoke earnestly, "To be precise, it’s not about clearing, but about carving a path. Our aim is not to clear all of Starry Sky City but to seize the Holy Fire Seed."

He unfurled a map, making it glow with Spiritual Energy, forming a three-dimensional pattern in the air for everyone to see.

"According to Investigation Legion intelligence, Starry Sky City is a typical central city, with the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground in the exact center, where the Starry Queen slumbers. The Holy Fire Seed has been confirmed devoured—our ultimate goal is to kill the Starry Queen."

"Note, according to decompiled feedback from Spiritual Energy, an overwhelming number of powerful monsters inhabit the city. Super Rank monsters above Third Tier number in the thousands, Fifth Tier monsters count at least dozens, aside from the Starry Queen, three King Level Monsters or Fallen have been detected."

Horus pointed a finger at the map, marking three massive red dots.

"It is impossible to clear the entirety of Starry Sky City, even clearing a partial area is unfeasible. This is a thorough assassination operation."

"We will spend several days to clear enough space, during which we must utilize spatial rifts maximally, cutting battlefields into portions to eliminate them piece by piece."

"The outer barriers of Starry Sky City do not dampen Spiritual Energy waves; they only blunt them for further spread. If the external battlefield isn’t thoroughly cleaned, we must allocate some combat power for interception outside. But everyone has done excellently; the battlefield is cleaned thoroughly, so we don’t need that combat power anymore."

As he spoke, Horus glanced at Rod, indicating that this merit belonged to him.

"Afterwards, we must strike swiftly like a drawn sword into the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground to complete the assassination of the Starry Queen."

The combat plan was somewhat vague, but amidst so many uncertainties, it could only reach this level.

Fortunately, Rod found a direct exit from the sewer, so they wouldn’t have to alter the terrain and thereby trigger unknown consequences.

Luo Weiya exclaimed, "Deservedly known as the King of the Sewer, truly living up to the name."

"Indeed, indeed." The Great Sword Tai Luo admired, nearly prostrating in praise; he had no sense of direction and was long dizzy in the sewer, "I admit you’re the strongest new star; no one in Trolian knows the sewer better than you for over a thousand years."

Jessica also had to admit Rod’s role in the sewer far exceeded hers.

"Hmph, I want to be stronger outside the sewer than you."

Brittania’s Anne clapped and laughed, "Bravo, Brother Rod! The sewer is yours to save, and the world outside, shall be mine."

The Book of Knowledge laughed wildly in Rod’s mind, "Haha, 10 points of Divinity came right into my hands—I understand why the Dream Realm chose you... Must be many fragments in the sewer, ugh!"

Rod shot into the Dream Realm and jabbed it sharply, then flew back.

Hah, if I can’t fix them, I can fix you!

Rod was huffing and puffing as he climbed a broad slope upwards until he could distinctly sense the wind’s presence when four Special Level Combatants instantly blocked in front of him.

Horus stepped forward, continuously shaking the Silence Bell while opening a Spiritual Power Barrier with a special tool to shield their presence as much as possible before allowing them to proceed.

Rod followed the throng to the exit, feeling the gentle wind greet him, the air carrying an indescribable ancient, worn aura.

He gazed afar, seeing a scene of decay and devastation.

Ruined buildings, collapsed houses, black dust swirling in the air, crisscrossing cracks on the ground—the time of this human Royal City from a thousand years ago seemed frozen, preserved at the moment of its destruction.

No words were spoken; the crowd fell silent until Horus produced the Star Disk and aligned it to the location.

"We are on the southwest side of Starry Sky City."

Luo Weiya asked, "How far is it from the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground?"

"Hold on."

Liszt approached the exit, stepped forth, out of the Spiritual Power Barrier.

He shook his head slightly, looking up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle.

Rod visibly saw his soul boiling, one wave of mild Spiritual Energy surging from him after the other.

Is his Soul Trait reconnaissance?

Rod wondered.

Sure enough, a moment later, Liszt opened his eyes, returned within the Spiritual Power Barrier, and said, "We need to clear nine areas to cut straight into the Starry Avenue leading to the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground."

Rod asked, "What is Starry Avenue?"

"The main thoroughfare running through Starry Sky City."

"How do you know it’s called that?"

Liszt gestured with his eyes towards the distance.

Rod looked, seeing a stone platform covered in dust with the words written in the Starry Kingdom language:

"Starry Avenue"

It seemed like a signpost, and the avenue pointed by it had long been fragmented—without that signpost, it would be unrecognizable.

Guardian Fei Xue asked, "Why don’t we go past here?"

Liszt shook his head, "No, going past here would take us through Starry Square and the Main Palace area, where a formidable King Level Monster resides."

As he finished speaking, a gale-like roar emerged from afar.

"Stars never perish!"

The booming sounds trembled the buildings, with dust rising skyward, blotting out the sun.

Liszt’s expression changed, quickly instructing, "Get down! Hide for now!"

These were seasoned warriors who immediately retreated to the sewer.

Soon after, the second gale-like roar came again.

"Kingdom eternal!"

Rod instantly recalled the Great Star Priest, locating Ye Feng and Riegel among the crowd, the three exchanging glances, recalling the same thing.

Liszt said solemnly, "This is a powerful half-mad Fallen, its Spiritual Energy roar sweeps the entire city at fixed intervals. According to certain scholars from the Royal City, it used to be the Main Star Priest, the leading Great Star Priest."
