Chapter 66: Why Do Harems Even Exist?! (2) [Rewritten]

You know what?

Hell. Fuck. Harem.

Whoever came up with the fantasy that being surrounded by multiple beautiful girls equals paradise clearly never experienced the raw torment of being the chew toy in a two-girl turf war.

Because right now? I feel less like the protagonist of some dream scenario and more like a civilian caught in the middle of a territorial clash between apex predators.

Yesterday, it was just Kim Jin-ah. And yeah, sure, she’s irritating sometimes and sometimes cute, but at the very least, she’s manageable.

You know exactly what you’re getting with her: sharp tongue, sharper eyes, relentless teasing, and her constant tracking of your feelings through her system—which was probably the most infuriating kind of harassment.

But when Quincy entered the picture?

I drew in a steady breath as the two girls beside me tried their best to match my pace.

And yes, I kept changing my stride to try and shake them off, but no—both of them were sprinting like their lives depended on it.

After a stretch of road, Quincy darted a glance at Sylvia, then suddenly increased her speed.

Wait... is this...?

Sylvia didn’t hesitate for even a heartbeat. She bolted forward, and in less than a second, they were racing.

Quincy glanced back at me with a warm smile—and it stung.

"That’s wife material right there."

"Keep up, Al," Sylvia called, jogging a half-step ahead of Quincy, her ponytail swaying with every stride.

She twisted around just enough to throw me a grin. "Don’t tell me you’re winded already? What a disappointment."

She let out a confident laugh. "But hey, doesn’t matter—whatever a man can’t do, his wife can always do for him."

Should I add a little spice?

The urge to tease Kim Jin-ah burned inside me. Nothing crazy—just some payback for all the nonsense she’s put me through.

"Well," I smirked, "since I can’t run fast, my wife will just have to be way faster than that."

Sylvia’s eyes widened for a moment. "Is that so?"

Her posture shifted like she was about to sprint ahead—but Quincy’s laugh cut her off.

Quincy slipped her arm through mine, resting her head lightly on my shoulder.

"Don’t tease us like that," she giggled, then tilted her head, catching the flush creeping across Sylvia’s face. "Sylvia, did you... want to run?"

Sylvia instantly looked away. After a pause, she shrugged, though the pink on her cheeks betrayed her. "Hah, like I’d fall for such a trick."

But when she turned back, clearly no one bought it. Her laugh came out awkward. "What’s with that mood? I was just kidding."

Silence fell. Sylvia’s expression hardened before she suddenly stepped toward me and kicked my leg.

"Ow!"

A sharp jolt shot up my calf. She just stared at me.

"Why the hell did you do that?"

She kept her gaze fixed, then gave a careless shrug. "Who knows~ Maybe I’m just pissed you’re sharing our date with someone else."

Before I could respond, a sharp flick hit me from behind.

Both Sylvia and I turned at the same time.

Quincy’s smile softened, her eyes narrowing faintly. "What date? No one told me about this. I would’ve stayed away if I’d known."

Sylvia quickly waved her hands. "No, it was a joke! You really are insane, you know that?"

Quincy pouted. "I’m not insane... right, Allen?"

I didn’t even wait for them to glance at me before raising both hands. "Don’t ask me. I don’t know."

Better to stay far, far away from girl trouble. They were practically another species.

My gaze drifted around the area. Students had begun spilling out of the dorms—some first years, others second years.

A few headed toward convenience stores, some were out walking, others just wandered aimlessly.

When I turned back, both girls were staring at me without blinking.

"...What?"

They shook their heads in perfect unison.

"I’m waiting for you, Al," Quincy said first.

Sylvia nodded. "Yeah, you zoned out for a second."

You know what?

Scratch what I said earlier.

A soft smile tugged at my lips.

The two girls in front of me were breathtaking—women most men would only dream about. And they... had feelings for me alone.

I stifled a laugh. "You know you could’ve just tapped me, right?"

Harems really were the best.

"Hehehe, Allen’s begging for a woman’s touch. Should I shout it?" Sylvia teased, leaning fully into my arm until I nearly toppled.

"I don’t think—"

My words caught when Quincy suddenly tugged my other arm, her eyes lighting up like she’d struck gold.

"Al, isn’t that the movie we said we’d watch last year?"

Last year?

I don’t remember anything like that—and I’m pretty sure Allen Vanderbilt never wrote about it in his diary.

Was she... trying to scam me?

Still, I followed her gaze.

Sure enough, neon lights glowed from a building across the street, a massive poster hanging above the entrance advertising some fantasy romance film.

Sylvia arched a brow. "Allen, wanna stop for a movie?"

Quincy clasped her hands, tilting her head. "It’ll be fun~! Besides, Al never breaks a promise... to me."

Sylvia shot her a glare. "As I recall, I said Allen—not Quincy and Allen."

Quincy’s smile turned sharp. "And if I recall correctly, Allen never promised you a damn thing, you spoiled golden spoon brat."

Ohhh!

I gasped internally.

Sylvia fell silent, her stare locked on Quincy.

Come on, Kim Jin-ah... give her another line.

Quincy smirked in victory. "Then it’s settled. We’re watching together."

Sylvia folded her arms with a sigh. "Whatever. Just don’t pick something stupid."

"Huh?" Quincy tilted her head in mock innocence, then pointed to the poster. "We’re watching that."

Sylvia turned to the banner—her face drained pale, then flared crimson.

"Huh?!!!"

A/N:

So guys, from here on out the Chapters are ones you’ve probably already read (though I’d still recommend a reread since a few parts were added and some removed). I only made some refinements—nothing major enough to require a full reread. So feel free to skip ahead to the next Chapters if you want.
