The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 202 - 20: Salted Fish Port
Chapter 202: Chapter 20: Salted Fish Port
The wind lightly blew, and the silver moon banner on the castle fluttered noisily.
Salted Fish Port was the only place on the entire continent that routinely hung the silver moon banner and was also the only territory that legally truly belonged to Gray.
Early in the morning, Shelley was already at the roadside in Salted Fish Port with Richie, waiting for her husband to return.
However, it was just the two of them. The world around them was desolate and quiet.
The news that Gray was a Lich had spread across the entire continent, and everyone knew. Since Gray was set to return, the residents of Salted Fish Port who could leave had already departed, and those who remained had closed their doors and windows tightly. There wasn’t a welcoming crowd, and even the streets were empty, as though the town had turned into a ghost town overnight.
The soldiers guarding the town had already left, and the maids had been dismissed. After all, nobody wanted to ally themselves with darkness. Once it was confirmed that Gray was a Lich, whether or not this Lich was righteous seemed to be a discussion no one wanted to continue.
Strictly speaking, Little Richie was only a little over a year old but looked as if he were five or six, quietly holding Shelley’s hand and standing by her side.
Hidden away, his Guardian Angel and tempter demon—Delia and Sarina—lurking quietly from afar. Similarly hidden, Catherine and Abod quietly floated in the sky.
The wind gently blew, caressing Shelley’s hair, pressing down the green grass. She stood quietly, waiting for her husband to return.
"Mama, how much longer do we have to wait? It’s been two days already," Richie asked, looking up.
"Are you tired?" Shelley asked.
"No, I’m not tired. I’m just worried you might be tired."
Shelley gently stroked Richie’s head and smiled softly, saying, "Mama’s not tired."
Richie blinked his eyes and continued to stare into the distance.
From a distance away, a few families peeked through a crack in their windows to quietly observe the mother and child.
"Will the Holy Knight really come back? What if he does come back, what should we do?"
"I’ve stocked up on several days’ worth of food. Apart from when Little Richie was just born, he never stays long any other time he returns. Don’t worry."
"But... I heard he’s planning to sacrifice the entire population of Salted Fish Port to the demons."
"Who said that?"
"The old lady at the market a few days ago."
"My goodness! What should we do? Is it too late for us to leave now?"
Time passed, moment by moment.
Finally, in the distance, the silver moon banner appeared at the top of the hill, fluttering loudly in the wind.
Shelley suddenly widened her eyes.
Before long, Carl appeared on horseback, holding the silver moon banner atop the hill. His bare skull was exposed under the sunlight.
"He’s here!" The people behind the windows gasped and covered their mouths in fright.
Shelley seemed a bit disappointed but still smiled while stroking Richie’s head, saying, "Your father will be here soon; this is just the vanguard."
"Mama," Richie asked softly, "how did you know that wasn’t Papa by the skull? Was it the armor?"
"Your Papa has a pull ring on top of his head."
"A pull ring?"
"Yes, he disguised himself as an ordinary skeleton to spy and learn magic in Bruto’s study. The pull ring is a remnant from that time."
"Have you ever seen Papa’s true form?"
Shelley nodded faintly.
"Weren’t you scared? All humans are afraid. You are human too."
"No, I wasn’t scared. Because love had already blinded my eyes. You are the product of our love." Shelley smiled sweetly while stroking Richie’s head.
Richie stared at Shelley blankly, remaining silent.
After a while, Richie asked softly, "Mama, I’ve always wanted to ask you something."
"Go ahead."
"Was I really born of you, like other children? Or was it purely magic condensation?"
Shelley bent down, gently kissed Richie’s forehead, and softly replied, "You were definitely born of Mama, and no one in this world could deny that. You are Mama’s most beloved little gem."
"I love you too, Mama." Holding Shelley’s hand, Richie said, "I will protect you, from Holy Spirits to the Demon Lord, no one can hurt my Mama."
"Good boy." Shelley gently caressed Richie’s face, saying, "Mama hopes you can protect yourself more."
Not long after, Carl galloped to them on horseback. Striking his chest plate heavily, Carl said, "Madam! Young Master Richie! The Holy Knight asked me to report to you first; he is right behind and will be here soon!"
"Thank you for your effort." Shelley nodded in greeting, then gently tugged on Richie, instructing, "Carl is the captain of the first squad of the Silver Moon Knight Order, your father’s most trusted Silver Moon Knight. You should respect and love him as your father does. Understand?"
Richie nodded, bowed to Carl, who was on horseback, and said respectfully, "Uncle Carl, thank you for your effort."
Carl placed his hand on his chest and bowed quickly in return.
At last, Gray appeared over the hill, leading the entire Silver Moon Knight Order.
Shelley widened her eyes and gently released Richie’s hand.
With a "clack," the residents who had been peeking from the cracks quickly closed their windows, trembling.
Gray sped up slightly, charging down the hill.
Shelley took small steps toward him.
Getting off his horse, the first thing Gray did was tightly embrace Shelley.
"I’m back."
"Yes." Shelley closed her eyes, burying her face in Gray’s chest.
