The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 228 - 03: Jones’s Marriage_2
Chapter 228: Chapter 03: Jones’s Marriage_2
Otherwise?
They had already started talking about Jones’ post-marriage life... Even if Jones agreed, it would be roughly a hundred years later!
Finally, the dessert was served after the meal. Jones quickly took a bite, then immediately stood up and said, "Father, Mother, Aunt Sarah, Cousin Susan, I am full."
With that, Jones bowed slightly and turned to leave.
Everyone watched him quietly.
"Stop." Count Dracula spoke.
Jones quickly paused, turned around, and awkwardly said, "Father, is there anything else?"
"It’s been so long since you last saw Aunt Sarah, wouldn’t you want to have a good chat with your aunt?"
"I... I don’t have anything special to say to Aunt Sarah."
"Nothing special to say, then tell her everything that has happened over the past few years."
"Tell... everything?"
"Is that not allowed?" Count Dracula’s expression turned cold, making the scene incredibly awkward.
*As Jones racked his brain on what to do, Aunt Sarah spoke up* "Forget it. He surely has things he wants to say to me. How could life outside compare to home? It’s probably because he just got back and isn’t quite used to it yet. Let him go for a walk. It’s good to exercise a bit after a meal."
Upon hearing this, Jones let out a sigh of relief as if granted a pardon.
"Is that so?" Count Dracula thought for a moment and said, "Alright then, go for a walk."
Susan immediately stood up and said, "I will accompany Cousin on his walk!"
Jones was startled, but the Countess looked delighted.
"Susan really will be a good wife, dear, look how considerate she is."
The Earl nodded approvingly.
Aunt Sarah looked smug.
...
A few minutes later, by the castle courtyard pond.
The young man in sea-colored finery stood off against his fiancée in an orange dress... staring intensely at each other.
Dark clouds rolled in the sky, thunder roared, and a bolt of lightning flashed. The white light illuminated Jones’ face: expressionless, one could almost say full of hostility. It also lit up Susan’s face: a sly smile.
The wind howled past them.
The atmosphere looked as if a fight could break out at any moment.
Staring at Susan, Jones asked, word by word, "What’s going on?"
"Which part are you referring to?" Susan replied with a smile.
"Multiple parts?" Jones was taken aback.
Susan replied with a smile in her eyes, "Not many—just two. One is why I didn’t refuse the marriage arrangement, the other is why I came out with you."
"You even have a motive for coming out with me?" Jones widened his eyes.
"Hahaha!" Susan covered her lips and let out a high-pitched laugh, scaring away nearby crows. After laughing, she looked at Jones and said ghostly, "Yes, I’m here to mock you face to face."
"Mock... mock me?"
"You said you would conquer the world, but after leaving for a few years you returned with nothing accomplished, becoming a Lich’s adopted son instead. Not only that, but you’ve also converted, and I heard you pray before meals and attend worship weekly. Why didn’t you pray just now? Is it because you were embarrassed? If I’m not mistaken, you’ve started drinking pig’s blood, correct?"
Jones was stunned, took a cold breath, and couldn’t recover for a while.
Susan continued speaking to herself, walked back and forth, and made a crying face, "My mother actually wants to force me to marry this loser. Is this fate’s arrangement? Is it heaven’s jealousy of my beauty and kindness?"
Then, she angrily screamed, "No, I absolutely refuse! I will resist! I will fight like a protagonist from a fairy tale! I can’t let myself fall into your clutches! Even if you use vicious plots and treacherous schemes! I won’t fall! I will fight against evil forces to the end!"
She shouted as tears fell! She shouted as tears fell!
Jones was stunned again!
"Don’t you have anything to say?" The girl who had been crying a moment ago instantly went back to a normal expression.
"Um...excluding the parts you imagined and the overly flattering adjectives for yourself, overall, I agree with your thoughts."
"Agree with what?" Susan asked.
"Agree with resisting this marriage arrangement." Jones answered.
"Really? You also agree to resist the marriage arrangement?"
"Of course, do you think I want to marry you? I’d rather marry a sow."
Susan’s eyebrow twitched twice, but she stubbornly maintained her dignified expression, "Alright, don’t worry about this matter, Cousin. Leave it to me."
"Really?" Jones looked at her suspiciously, "I still feel something is off."
"As allies, shouldn’t we trust each other? Our interests align; that’s what matters most."
"Alright, I’ll trust..."
Before finishing his sentence, Jones suddenly paused because he noticed Susan’s expression looked wrong. She had a terrified expression, seemingly looking behind him.
Jones, startled, quickly turned around.
A bolt of lightning lit up the surroundings.
The quiet night, the shimmering pond, the grass and trees trembling slightly in the wind—nothing was happening.
Just as Jones was puzzled, he suddenly felt a hard kick from behind, throwing him forward into the pond!
"What are you doing! You just said we were allies! Are you betraying me this quickly!"
Screaming, Jones barely managed to pull his head out of the pond, only to find that Susan was no longer there. Everything around him was silent.
For some reason, he suddenly had a bad premonition and quickly climbed out of the pond. Without hesitation, he transformed into a bat and rushed toward his parents’ parlor.
As soon as he entered, his expression froze.
Because he saw Susan, wearing a torn dress, crying in Aunt Sarah’s arms, while his parents were angrily glaring at him. freewebnσvel.cøm
Jones was still soaking wet.
Jones’ mind frantically spun, turned, and then shouted at Susan, "She kicked me into the water!"
"Sorry," Susan looked up, sobbing, and said, "Uncle, Aunt, I was just too nervous and acted too harshly. I really didn’t expect Cousin to molest me."
"Molest..." Jones’ mouth twitched twice.
Aunt Sarah was already fuming, and even Jones’ parents looked unsettlingly furious.
"No! No! Let me explain!" Jones screamed, "I didn’t do anything! I’m only 72 years old, still underage! How could I possibly molest her!"
"Yes, I also think it wasn’t Cousin’s true intent. Maybe... it’s that he picked up some vile habits from the Human World. This isn’t Cousin’s fault... He said he wanted to spread teachings to me, and I thought since he was so devout, I should support him. Then he said he wanted to do something he often did happily with human girls..." As she spoke, Susan began crying, "Mother! Please don’t worry! Although Cousin is a failed higher Blood Clan, not only taken in by a Lich but also converted to human religion and tainted by human habits, I am still willing to marry him for the family’s honor and mother’s wishes!"
Aunt Sarah’s hand trembled as she stared at Jones in terror.
"No! What nonsense are you saying! Nothing actually happened!" Jones roared.
"Let’s pretend nothing happened... passing word about this wouldn’t be good for Cousin’s reputation." Susan sobbed.
Count Dracula had slowly started walking toward Jones, the Countess angrily turned away from Jones.
"Father! Father! What are you doing?"
"I didn’t believe her when she said it, but when she mentioned spreading teachings, I believed!"
"Wait! What kind of logic is that!"
Jones was already screaming as Count Dracula lifted him up.
"Enough!" Aunt Sarah slapped the table, stood up, held Susan’s hand, and said, "I think we should seriously reconsider this marriage. We’ll see you later."
With that, she turned and left.
As they crossed paths, Susan secretly stuck her tongue out at Jones.
"Sister! Sister! Hold on! Sister!" Count Dracula threw Jones aside and quickly chased after her.
The Countess gave Jones a helpless look and left as well.
Leaving Jones alone, collapsed on the ground, with his eyes wide open in shock.
