The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 251 - 13: Small Goals (2)_3
Chapter 251: Chapter 13: Small Goals (2)_3
And then there were zombies.
Zombies were the lowest tier of residents in the Blood Clan territory. Slow-moving, incredibly strong, not very bright, but reliable workers. The downside? They ate a lot.
Normally, any member of the Blood Clan could turn a corpse into a zombie. However, the problem lay in getting the corpse. After all, you couldn’t just pick one up off the streets. Due to the accord with Heaven, the Blood Clan couldn’t freely hunt humans either. If they wanted bodies, they had to buy them.
"So, how much does a body cost?"
The bodies were sold by goblins. Jones never quite understood why goblins sold everything.
"A hundred Gold Coins for an adult male’s body."
"Why is it so expensive?"
"You have to understand, within the framework of the accord, obtaining a body that can be legally turned into a zombie isn’t easy."
"Anything cheaper?"
"An adult female’s body goes for thirty Gold Coins, and a child’s body can be as low as five Gold Coins."
"What’s the difference?"
"The strength varies, but they all eat the same amount."
*Oh great, I couldn’t even afford a proper adult zombie with all the money I have.*
*If I wanted my castle to maintain decent output, I would need at least three hundred zombies made from adult male bodies. That meant I would need at least thirty thousand Gold Coins.* *That was another debt to be paid off.*
*Jones felt his scalp prickling with worry.*
*No matter what, at least the basic needs were clear now. As for things like a dwarf blacksmith shop, that would have to wait.*
*When you felt like you could afford it, a hundred thousand Gold Coins didn’t seem like much. But when you realized production was problematic and you might not be able to repay it, thirty thousand Gold Coins felt astronomical.*
*Back home, Jones was increasingly restless, racking his brain over how to make money.*
"Fishing to sell?"
"Mining to sell?"
"Crafting armor to sell?"
*Selling to whom, and at what price, became another big problem.*
*Jones was practically scratching his scalp off.*
At dawn, Delia, Richie’s Guardian Angel, finally appeared before Jones with news about his loan requests.
Thank heavens, at least nothing went wrong with delivering the letters.
Jones opened the first letter, Camilla’s reply.
"What do you need so much money for? Are you buying a castle? Planning to become a Blood Clan Lord? Get back here immediately! We have plenty to do here!"
*Well, no point in relying on Camilla. Jones silently crumpled her letter and tossed it into the wastebasket.*
"Dear Jones, we are about to join Gray on his northern campaign. The entire Beishier Duchy’s military funds are extremely tight. I can’t lend you that much money at the moment. However, I can personally sponsor you with a thousand Gold Coins. You don’t have to repay it."
*This was the standard way to refuse a loan without damaging the friendship. Anyway, at least he had a thousand Gold Coins in hand now. No fees, and Dora could bring them directly.*
"Dear Jones, due to well-known reasons, the Isaac Royal Family does not have surplus funds. Our tax revenues are also very low, so we cannot support your idea of establishing a Blood Clan territory."
*Bob didn’t even offer a thousand Gold Coins...*
"Dear Jones, I am willing to support your idea. However, you will have to wait until I inherit the throne. Given that the Holy Knight has already agreed to become a Lich after his death, I may never inherit the throne. Of course, I still support you. I am willing to sponsor you with a hundred Gold Coins from my allowance!"
*A hundred Gold Coins... well, better than nothing.*
*Jones now had eleven hundred Gold Coins, still forty-eight thousand nine hundred away from the goal.*
"Dear Jones, you need a loan? Considering our deep friendship, I can introduce you to a highly reputable, famous banker! No matter how much you need, you can borrow it at an interest rate of only 2% annually... Being the Holy Knight’s adopted son, he’s sure to be willing to lend to you!"
*Heh, you might think you have a lot of friends, until you start asking them for money.*
