Chapter 274: Chapter 25: Father and Son_2

That was the time he ran away from home to conquer the world, only to end up becoming Gray’s adopted child. However, from Count Dracula’s perspective, whether it was "Jones conquering the world" or "Jones sulking and running away from home," remains a topic for debate.

"Father, the snow is so heavy. How about we fly slower?"

’If you confess now, I might consider reducing your punishment slightly.’

"Huh? Father, I... I don’t understand what you mean!"

"You’re already stuttering, and yet you don’t understand? Or are you planning to deny it to the end?"

"Father, I really didn’t..."

"You must have done something shady. I can tell. There is definitely something in the castle. If you think the snow is too heavy, you can slow down a little with your mother. I’ll head over first and check it out!"

With that, Count Dracula slightly increased his speed.

"No! Father! Please wait for me!" Jones was horrified and used every ounce of his strength to catch up.

If Jones had anything to say at the moment, it would be regret—deep regret—for providing his father with coordinates before departing. If he hadn’t given coordinates, the latter would have had no choice but to wait for him.

Flying behind them, the Countess casually explained to Susan: "Well, isn’t this normal? Every Blood Clan child has their share of ridiculous escapades growing up. Every family has small disputes."

"No, Auntie, not in our family," Susan replied flatly. "It’s not every family, just yours that’s particularly... unique."

"Alright, I admit, our family is indeed special. I don’t know why we ended up this way." The Countess could only shake her head helplessly. "Let’s hope, no matter what happens, you won’t tell your mother about this, okay?"

Susan’s eyes flickered before she smiled silently, offering no reply. This made the Countess even more uneasy.

Soon, they finally emerged from the stormy snow zone. Or to be more precise, Count Dracula and Jones escaped it, leaving the Countess and Susan far behind. And the critical part—Count Dracula was still accelerating...

Another hour passed. Jones was nearly exhausted from chasing after his father when a diminutive castle finally came into view before them.

Beneath the blue moonlight, a small castle nestled on the mountainside stood serenely, surrounded by slender rivers and exuding a tranquil beauty.

Of course, at the moment, it likely symbolized impending disaster for Jones.

Not far from the castle, a recently established Dwarf Village had lit bonfires, where dwarves danced and sang merrily.

"What’s this? A dwarf village?"

"Uh... yes."

"A dwarf village within Blood Clan territory?"

"Oh no, these are dwarf slaves."

"But I don’t see anyone supervising them."

"Because... because Adelle struck a special deal with them, so there’s no need for supervision."

After glancing briefly from afar, Count Dracula resumed his flight toward the castle.

"Father, please wait a moment!" Jones hurriedly chased after him.

"What’s the matter? Can’t I visit the castle?"

"No, you certainly can. But the castle has a Hydra inside. I must warn you about that first."

"A Hydra?" Count Dracula gave Jones a meaningful look. "Dwarf slaves roam freely in Blood Clan territory, and there’s a Hydra within the castle? This sounds like a fairy tale."

"But Father, it’s true!"

"Move aside! If you won’t move, I’ll take action against you!"

Jones had no choice but to step aside obediently.

Transforming back to his humanoid form, Count Dracula landed at the castle gates, ignoring Jones’s protests as he stormed into the castle. However, the moment he angrily entered the grand hall to investigate what Jones had been secretly up to, his heart sank, and his eyes widened.

Because he genuinely saw nine gigantic serpent heads staring down at him from above. Those glowing green eyes radiated an eerie light in the darkness.

Indeed, there was a living, breathing Hydra right here...

Both sides fell into a tense standoff. After all, a Blood Clan member barging into a Hydra’s castle at midnight? The fact that they weren’t already fighting suggested a great deal of self-restraint on both parts.

"Ma’am! Ma’am! This is my father; he just wants to take a look around the castle!" Jones hurriedly stepped between them. "Just to look around the castle, that’s all. I work here. Parents naturally worry and want to check, isn’t that right?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

Jones held out his palms with a nervous smile, sweat dripping down his face as he stared at the Hydra.

After another brief stalemate, the Hydra’s nine heads slowly began to retract, coiling themselves back in the hall. In a low voice, she replied, "Understandable. Go ahead, take a look. I won’t stop you."

Hearing this, Count Dracula finally exhaled in relief and staggered forward, nearly collapsing onto the floor.

"Father, should we start from the third floor or perhaps the first..."

Before Jones could finish his sentence, Count Dracula had already turned around and walked out.

Jones quickly followed him out.

The Hydra opened one eye slightly to watch them leave.

...

Once they were back at the castle entrance, Count Dracula grabbed Jones by the collar and growled in a low voice, "Why is there a Hydra here!?"

"Father, I already warned you earlier about the Hydra."

"I thought you were lying! I didn’t expect it to be real!"

"Isn’t that great? It proves I wasn’t lying."

"No, this is worse than lying! You interact with it here daily? Without any magical constraints? That’s a fully grown Hydra; it could swallow you whole, leaving no trace of your bones!"

"But it wouldn’t. You saw it—it’s very friendly."

Count Dracula’s eyes widened in disbelief: "You addressed her with respect just now. You rarely use honorifics. That means either she holds status higher than yours here, or her temper is terrifyingly bad, and you’re afraid of her."

Jones’s heart skipped a beat. "Uh..."

Count Dracula pressed further, "Why is there an unrestrained Hydra freely wandering in Adelle’s castle?"

"I don’t know. You could ask Adelle about it someday. Maybe it’s his... friend."

"Friends with a Hydra? Has he lost his mind? How am I supposed to ask him when I barely ever see him? Should I go out of my way just to ask him this? Why did he have my son manage a castle inhabited by a Hydra?"

"You’ll get a chance to ask him eventually, won’t you? But definitely not today." Jones smiled nervously, finally feeling slightly relieved.

"Greetings, Count. Pleased to meet you." Suddenly, a voice rang out.

Immediately, the sense of relief Jones just found vanished into thin air.

It couldn’t be denied, sometimes when misfortune strikes, you truly end up facing exactly what you fear.

As Count Dracula and Jones spoke, from afar, Adelle was already flying toward them, accompanied by Dora, his butler, and several Blood Clan guards.

Jones’s expression froze.

Transforming back, Adelle, along with Dora, the butler, and the Blood Clan guards, landed in front of Count Dracula and respectfully bowed in greeting. Then, there was a brief pause.

"What’s wrong? Did something happen? Why are you all looking at me like that?"

Jones once again began sweating nervously.

Count Dracula turned and gestured toward the castle behind him. "There’s a Hydra inside."

"Yes, I’m the one raising it," Adelle replied without hesitation.

"Young Master Adelle, you’re raising a Hydra?"

"Yes, it’s a birthday gift from my father. Quite a special gift, don’t you think?"

"Certainly unique. Don’t you find it dangerous?"

"No, it’s not dangerous. It’s under magical constraints; it won’t harm anyone."

"There’s no magical constraint."

"There is."

"There isn’t."

"There is. You can’t see it from outside; you’d need to go inside to notice. But I’d advise against entering, of course. Safety is never too much to ask for, wouldn’t you agree?" Adelle said with a smile.

"I’ve already gone inside. There isn’t." Count Dracula replied with a deadpan expression.

Adelle’s smile froze.

Jones sweated profusely.

Silence. A heavy silence, one that made the atmosphere palpably tense.

Dora kept her head bowed, as low as possible.

After a moment, Adelle nervously and awkwardly muttered, "Uh... maybe I forgot to set it up. Yes, that must be it. Sorry about that—my oversight."
