The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 288 - 32: Adolf’s Secret (2)
Chapter 288: Chapter 32: Adolf’s Secret (2)
"You are certainly human."
"Humans can’t live this long. I’ve already undergone early modifications. The humans of today are different from those of the Krimasha era. Without a common origin, culture, or growth experience, there’s no way I can see myself as the same as other ordinary humans. And after the Awakening Day, I can’t treat our hard-earned awakened compatriots the same as normal humans. Maybe we are already two different races. Oh no," Adolf paused and then continued, "maybe three. I’m different from them too. I, they, ordinary humans, the Blood Clan, and the Liches, the only thing we have in common is that we all evolved from humans."
The Blue Mist remained silent, quietly following Adolf, watching his back.
Finally, Adolf reached the middle of the huge stone pillar and stopped, staring ahead silently.
A blue gemstone, almost indistinguishable from the other massive gemstones, contained within it a girl. Golden long hair, delicate eyebrows, and a beauty as if she were a sculpture. She wore a purple mage robe with gold trims. With her eyes closed, she slept quietly, seeming to float in the water. The posture was elegant and enchanting.
"How is she doing?" Adolf took an empty step. Just as he was about to lose footing and fall into the abyss, the sand adhered to the surface of the huge stone pillar began to flow like water, moving quickly from the bottom to the top, and swiftly forming a suspended bridge beneath his feet, extending in the direction of the girl.
Adolf’s steps were solid on the bridge made of sand, moving forward step by step.
"She has passed the dangerous period. If there are no accidents, she should wake up in another fifteen years."
"Is her condition good?"
"Fairly good, she should be considered a relatively successful case. However, as previously predicted, she may not remember you. To be precise, she may not remember almost anything. Because of memory disorder, if her memory isn’t eradicated in time, the result could be a complete failure."
Adolf stood on the sand bridge, silently watching, expressionless. *There was a sense of indifference in his eyes, along with a hint of helplessness.*
"What’s the matter? What are you thinking?" The Blue Mist asked.
"Have you ever loved someone?" Adolf asked softly.
"I was created as a spirit to manage this place. I can’t fall in love with anyone. I can only remain loyal to my mission."
Adolf continued to quietly observe the girl. For a long time, he held a magic wand in one hand and a light ball in the other, speaking softly, "The feeling of falling in love with someone is very wonderful. You will feel that as long as you have her, it’s enough for the whole world. But losing the one you love will make you feel like it’s fine if the entire world is destroyed."
"Isn’t she still here? Maybe you don’t need to be so pessimistic."
"But she won’t be the same her anymore. Didn’t you say that? Her memory, everything, is gone. She will come into this world again like a newborn baby. All cognition will be a blank slate."
"She can relearn, just like before, retracing the original path."
"But will she still be the same her? Will she still be the one I loved?"
The Blue Mist floated quietly, not answering.
With a faint sigh, Adolf softly said, "And, I’m afraid I don’t have the time to wait for her to grow up again."
"It doesn’t need to be a long time. Before she went in, she was only seventeen."
"Seventeen plus fifteen... thirty-two years. I’m not sure I can live another thirty-two years."
Saying this, Adolf took a step to the side.
The sand bridge quickly turned and solidified at his landing point ahead. However, Adolf didn’t step down but floated.
The sand bridge extended rapidly along his flight path, as if trying to catch him.
Soon, he reached another gemstone beside the girl.
This gemstone was different from all the others here. Like amber, it had a kind of turbid yellow, with streaks of red in the center, resembling a giant eye veined with blood.
Adolf reached out to gently touch the gemstone, which rippled like water immediately. He turned his body, gradually immersing himself into it.
"I suggest you don’t use magic anymore unless it’s necessary. Including flying magic," the Blue Mist said softly, "your body isn’t fully modified. Using magic will create a burden. If you want to live another thirty-two years, besides staying in the ’Blood Crystal’ as much as possible, you should avoid using magic. Any magic."
"I know. Wake me up in two days." Adolf closed his eyes and softly said, "If I never wake up one day, remember to tell her I love her. *For this ten thousand years, I’ve always cherished the days with her, although fleeting like an instant. Even if she may not remember at all.*"
"I will."
"Thank you, Eugene."
Saying this, Adolf’s face completely submerged into the Blood Crystal. The bloodshot eye flickered slightly, then completely solidified.
The sand bridge quietly retracted until every grain of sand returned to its original position.
The Blue Mist gradually dissipated until it disappeared entirely.
The whole space returned to silence, like an abyss, devouring all sound.
In the corner, a middle-aged male mage in one of the Blood Crystals suddenly trembled slightly and opened his eyes sharply. The entire Blood Crystal rippled.
Subsequently, the light in the middle-aged mage’s eyes gradually disappeared, and he slowly closed them. The blue radiance on the Blood Crystal gradually dissipated and turned red, the color of blood.
Time still flowed bit by bit, just as it had for the past ten thousand years.
...
"No matter how impossible or hopeless this method seems, if it’s already the last resort, we can only choose to believe in it. We must fight for humanity and not succumb. Even if the opponent is a deity or a demon. Ansel, we should be our own masters, not someone’s vassals."
This was what the girl said to Adolf in his memories.
Ansel Lefebvre, Adolf’s real name, a member of the Krimasha Mage Alliance, the Tomb Guardian of Krimasha, always waiting for the day this enormous tomb would reopen. But perhaps when the tomb truly opens, he may no longer be able to see it.
Or maybe, will this tomb ever reopen a magnificent history, or will it truly become a giant tomb, burying the beliefs humanity once held?
*Keeping a secret, working silently for the revival of humanity, spending ten thousand years alone in this sunless space, bearing endless confusion, self-doubt, struggle, and pursuing a glimmer of hope that he might never see...*
*What kind of feeling is that?*
*Only Adolf himself would probably know.*
Ten thousand years of long waiting, countless people’s devotion and lives...
This is the price weaklings pay to challenge the strong; this is the spirit that the magnificent Krimasha civilization, unknown to modern humanity, prided itself on ten thousand years ago.
Humans have never resigned themselves to fate, nor would they surrender.
This is the dignity of Krimasha.
