Chapter 669: Chapter 1: Unknown Journey (Part 2)

Although it looks much like rotten meat, it can sometimes be even more terrifying.

For example, for someone with hemophobia, even a light bump, sometimes not even that, will cause bleeding. As a result, Richie is always covered in blood.

Honestly, if it were in the northern battlefield, Richie would definitely endure the agonizing pain repeatedly to scrape off all the granulation.

However, if it’s during a journey, such actions are clearly unrealistic.

In fact, these unformed lumps of flesh hurt even if not scraped, causing pain with every movement. But for some unknown reason, Richie actually begins to like this feeling.

Perhaps it’s because the pain helps him forget some other things. After all, the physical pain doesn’t compare to the pain of the heart.

"Master! Would you like something to eat? Your servant has prepared delicious food for you!"

A voice came from the cave entrance.

Richie wrapped his black robe around himself, stood up slowly, and then leaned against the smooth rock wall, step by step towards the exit.

The light grew brighter.

What appeared before Richie was a bonfire. Next to the bonfire was a goblin crawling respectfully wearing a simple hemp cloth robe, holding two pieces of bloody lizard meat.

Unlike regular goblins, his skin is gray, covered with small bumps, and his eyes are much larger than other goblins. Coupled with a bloated body, slender limbs, and a wrinkled face, there is an indescribable eerie feeling.

This is an Abyss Goblin, also known as a "Lost One." A branch of the goblins.

"Master, this is a lizard your servant just caught. I hope you like it!" The goblin looked at Richie with a flattering smile, showing his mouth full of fangs.

"I told you, I’m not your master." Richie walked up to the goblin, bent down, picked up one of the pieces of lizard meat, and began to chew it.

The taste was utterly revolting, yet for some reason, Richie didn’t reject it. His hands unconsciously shoved the fishy-smelling lizard meat into his mouth. In his mind, he continually recalled the delicious meals his mother had personally cooked for him back in Salted Fish Port.

There wasn’t even a hint of wind around.

This is the underground world, located at the edge of the abyss, strictly speaking, it is the power domain of the abyss. So even outside the cave, apart from areas illuminated by the bonfire, it was still pitch-black everywhere, feeling even darker than inside the cavern.

Not a single star in the sky, only endless darkness, with occasional roars of magical beasts echoing from within.

"No, you are indeed my master. You are the Grim Reaper, and Brau is the Grim Reaper’s faithful follower." The goblin named Brau stared fanatically at Richie with wide eyes: "You seem like a zombie, but Brau knows you are not. Every zombie carries the stench of decay, yet you do not have the slightest hint of that smell, but rather, filled with fresh blood scent. Brau has never seen an existence with such a strong blood scent like you. Please allow Brau to offer his soul to you! It is Brau’s greatest honor!"

This Abyss Goblin was saved by Richie two days ago from the mouth of a magical beast in a certain canyon. Since then, he hasn’t left Richie’s side for a moment. Saying he’s pestering non-stop wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

"I don’t need your soul." Richie swallowed all the lizard meat, wiped his mouth, and looked at him saying: "Eat the remaining piece yourself. Take me to Shisun City, and then you’ll be free."

"No! Brau doesn’t need freedom; Brau needs acceptance from the Grim Reaper!" The goblin panicked, quickly adding: "That is Brau’s greatest gift! Brau wants to always follow the master!"

Richie was speechless.

Perhaps... this is the underground world. The chaotic underground world has its own logic of survival, completely different from the surface world.

Here, freedom is worth nothing.

Richie spoke softly: "Your value to me only extends to the path from here to Shisun City; I need to know which path is safer. As for afterward... staying by my side will only be more dangerous. I don’t have extra energy to protect you."

"No! Brau does not fear danger! Brau fears abandonment by the master!" The goblin screamed.

"Suit yourself." With that, Richie turned around, tightened his black robe, and walked off. In no time, his figure slowly merged into the darkness.

"Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master! Brau will always be loyal to you!" The goblin struggled to stand up, stuffed the remaining piece of bloody lizard meat into his pocket, then grabbed a torch and swiftly followed him.

That beam of light moved slowly in the dark world, becoming the sole brightness in this underground world. So thin, it seemed like it would disappear at any moment.

In fact, at this very moment, a kilometer away, there were indeed a pair of giant eyes watching them—a "owl" with a human face.

"A goblin and a zombie? No magic power fluctuations. Area is normal, beginning patrol to next area." Muttering with a sharp voice to itself, the human-faced creature flapped its wings and flew to the other side.

This was Silver Moon Third Year, December.

Yes, just like that, we move the storyline back to more than four years ago at the end of the previous volume.

At this time, slightly more than a year since Lich King Gray was ambushed in Dragon Valley, the news of Second Generation Lich King Richie’s succession hadn’t spread on the continent yet, and the standoff in the north had just begun less than nine months ago.

The City Lord of Giant Snake City, Hydra Jones, was working tirelessly in Giant Snake City, not even having officially started his journey to High Court to attend the hearing.

And the starting point of the story in this volume, is at the edge of the abyss control domain in the underground world, never mentioned in previous stories—dubbed the "sewer" of this world, a barren and chaotic place. Filled with magical beasts and adventurers from different races, or rather, the castaways of various races.

Of course, such a place indeed has no lack of danger, evil, fear, and bloodshed.

As for why Richie, rumored to be so busy due to the battles in the north, is here...

Guess.

Strolling through the barren underground world, Richie softly asked: "Have you heard of a demon named Pegasus in Shisun City?"

Brau replied with a grin: "Pegasus? Respectable Master, the humble goblin has no way of knowing the names of demons."

"Then what do you know about Shisun City?"

"Your servant has only been there once, stayed under a bridge for a night, and was driven out of Shisun City. They do not welcome goblins."

"Tell me everything you know about Shisun City. Everything."

"Um..." Clinging tightly beside Richie, Brau hesitated and softly said: "Shisun City is home to many powerful and evil beings. They come from the abyss, wield terrifying magical power, and with just a finger, can erase humble goblins like Brau from the world. The City Lord of Shisun City possesses the ability to converse with the Demon Lord; even the strongest Angel in Heaven fears his strength. Respectable Master, may I have the honor of knowing what you are planning to do in Shisun City?"

"You don’t need to know." Richie answered casually. Under the dim light, his remaining eye lacked any emotion.

History is never a single-threaded storyline.

While the adopted son Jones on the distant Kolin Peninsula strived day and night for his justice, Richie, Gray’s own child, did the same.

These are two battlefronts; the difference is that one is known, while the other remains unknown.
