Chapter 673: Chapter 3: Unknown Journey (Part 3)

Step by step, Richie walked up to the creature and stopped.

Amidst the sickening sound of slime, a huge eye opened in the middle of the rotten flesh-like entity. Unlike a human eye, it was more like a dragonfly’s eye, composed of countless small eyes. The eye was covered in slime, as if it hadn’t been opened for a long time.

"Hello, Bofran, right? Bailey introduced me here." Richie said to it in Abyssal.

The flesh-like creature named Bofran stared blankly at Richie for a while, seemingly needing time to recall who Richie was talking about. Amidst one of the unsettling slimy sounds, a mouth with four petals opened on one of the tentacles and it said in a sharp voice, "Evil Soul Bell?"

"Yes, that’s him. He sent me here to find you. He said you owe him a significant favor, and now it’s time to repay it." As he spoke, Richie took out a black object from his pocket and handed it to the "rotten flesh."

A tentacle with three holes at the end reached out towards Richie, sniffing the black item in his hand. "Yes, this is indeed the tentacle left for Lord Bailey by Bofran. What does Lord Bailey need Bofran to do?"

"He wants you to cooperate with me and fulfill all my requests." Richie glanced around as he spoke. "Before I came, I thought this place was an inn."

"Yes, this is indeed an inn. But it serves the Insect Clan, hahaha. It seems you need a place to stay. No problem, Bofran will arrange that right away."

"Thank you." Richie replied softly.

...

About half an hour later, Richie and Brau were standing in a room of a "proper inn."

The room, roughly fifteen square meters, was not large but not small either. A simple bed, the dirty cups had a hint of mold. A desk and two chairs looked very worn, even with a layer of dust on the surface. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Well, this inn doesn’t look proper either, but this is Shisun City, what more could you expect?

"How is it, satisfied? Oh right, how should Bofran address you?" Bofran’s bulky body was carried back and forth by several bugs in the room, their abdominal armor and limbs making a rustling sound on the floor. Occasionally, the tentacles would fiddle with something, appearing very enthusiastic.

"You can call me... Sir. Yes, just call me Sir." Richie casually opened the window of the room, and immediately, a pungent smell rushed in. To be precise, it was a cloud of thick smoke.

Unexpectedly, the room faced a river of lava...

No choice, Richie had to close the window again. It seems that the residents of Shisun City really aren’t picky about their living environment.

"Hmm... Sir? It seems you’re not at liberty to disclose your name. Bofran understands. If unnecessary, Bofran will never reveal your visit to Shisun City, please rest assured. Is Lord Bailey well? We haven’t seen each other for a thousand years."

"He is well, and it would be even better if you could accomplish the task he commissioned you for."

"Of course, Bofran is very willing to serve Lord Bailey. Lord Bailey pulled Bofran back from the brink of death. Life is everything to Bofran, and naturally, Bofran is also willing to exchange everything for it. So, may I ask, what exactly does Bofran need to do?"

Richie paused, looked back at Bofran, and said softly, "Bailey said you once mentioned a demon named Pegasus and that he resides in Shisun City. Is that true?"

"Lord Pegasus? Yes, Bofran mentioned him, the esteemed Lord Pegasus resides in Shisun City. He is the ruler of all the Insect Clan."

"I wish to meet him, preferably alone."

"Hmm..." Bofran seemed hesitant. "I’m afraid it’s not that easy..."

Richie knitted his brows slightly.

Seeing Richie’s doubts, Bofran hurriedly explained, "No, it’s not what you think. Bofran is very willing to serve you, and Lord Pegasus is indeed in Shisun City. However, Bofran has never met Lord Pegasus."

"How do you know he resides in Shisun City if you haven’t met him?"

"Well... I don’t know how to explain it to you, but Bofran is sure that Lord Pegasus is indeed in Shisun City."

"Because he resides in the inner city, and you can’t enter the inner city?"

"No, it’s not that. Bofran is also unsure whether Lord Pegasus is in the inner city."

This answer was as good as no answer at all, and Richie began to doubt the reliability of the information. But there weren’t any better options at the moment.

With no choice, Richie could only say, "Let’s say it a different way, is there any way you can let me meet Pegasus?"

After hesitating for a moment, Bofran said, "If it’s absolutely necessary, I can introduce you to my esteemed Mother Worm. She can definitely help you meet Lord Pegasus, although Bofran is also unsure if she’s willing to help. However, in that case, I will have to introduce you to her, at least telling her that you were sent by Lord Bailey. Is that alright?"

Richie hesitated and asked, "How is your Mother Worm’s relationship with the Abyss?"

Bofran’s tentacle formed a smiley face as it opened its mouth, "Hehe, it seems I guessed correctly."

"What did you guess?" Richie asked calmly.

"I heard that the Lich Council reorganized into the White Bone Holy Light Court and elected a Lich King, now allied with the human alliance against Heaven and Hell. Lord Bailey is among them. It seems that this matter is related to the Northern war situation, right?"

Richie silently watched him, neither agreeing nor denying.

"Hehehe, rest assured, Bofran won’t speak of it. Since this matter is of utmost importance, Bofran shouldn’t talk about it even more. The Insect Clan will only be loyal to our Mother Worm, and for brain insects like Bofran, loyalty to friendship is also required. As for everything else, it’s irrelevant to us, including the Abyss. By the way, in the conflict between the Lich, Abyss, and Heaven, our Insect Clan’s stance is neutral."

"Alright, thanks for your trouble." Richie nodded. "Arrange for me to meet with your Mother Worm."

"Bofran will handle it right away, please rest assured." With that, several bugs carried Bofran and turned away.

Only Richie and Brau, who was huddled in the corner, were left in the room.

Richie turned to look at Brau.

Brau immediately knelt down and earnestly said, "Honorable master, you are far more powerful than Brau imagined. Rest assured, Brau will not disclose any information about you to anyone."

"When I am in hibernation, you are responsible for guarding me. If you encounter anything you cannot resolve, press the gemstone on this ring." As he spoke, Richie handed a ring to Brau.

It was a rusty-looking iron ring. The so-called gemstone on the ring looked like an ordinary stone.

"As you command, my master." Brau accepted it with both hands, respectfully holding it.

Retracting his gaze, Richie turned and lay on the dirty bed, closed his eyes, and entered what is called "hibernation."
